Thank you sooo much!

One thing I am curious about is, how does the lower reflectivity, and the 600 nits screen, make using it outside or in an office with fluorescent lighting?

Based on seeing the new iPads in an Apple store, given how bright the lighting is in the store, I think it made a difference Seeing how the displays are much more readable. The new iPad Pro's have a reflectivity rate of 1.8%, compared to its previous reflectivity of 2.6%.

Guys i did it finally, Sold my first generaionm and bought new one as well as The lighting to USB3 camera adapter today, cause somehow i feel we will see Flash Drive sticks support in future updates of iOS 11.
I usually would like to restore new devices via iTunes as first thing to do with.
Restoring from back up is next.

So glad to upgrade from 256 to 512 GB, I suppose no need to concern about removing things to get free space anymore.

But 512 GB is low too and almost took 280 GB of storage by now.

Wasn't expecting to get so much use from the Smart Keyboard and Smart Cover but I'am.

Smart Cover is ideal for before bed when watching things and just browsing in bed.

I have both as well and am getting equal use out of them. Smart Keyboard when at work or doing work related stuff. Smart Cover for around the house. Perfect duo.

This is one of the big reasons for the switch to 12.9. Will be great for the football season for these reasons alone. Can't beat multitasking like this on the 12.9

I like it and is more like a laptop, can't wait for ios11. But what it has done is make appreciate my iPad mini even more. They are totally different machines and suitable for different tasks, lazing in the garden in hot weather is definitely mini territory.

As owner of both 12.9 second and Apple TV 4 which one is your favorite for watching movies/shows?

I would say I watch more films/shows on the Apple TV but I think for when in bed where you just want to relax I reckon I will watch more on my 12.9

Although when amazon prime video comes to Apple TV I bet I will watch it on there.

I initially bought a 10.5 version but noticed the back side of it had a slight curve to it, call me OCD but I checked it with a level and sure enough, there was a curve. I took it back the next day and got another, which had a similar curve, so just went ahead and bought the 12.9. It's a great piece of hardware and fits in my hands just great, the only thing I miss is being able to type with my thumbs, it's more of a stretch now!

Other than that, it's lovely and the screen is great for my older eyes.

Which is why I'm baffled that Apple decided to remove the split keyboard option on the 12.9. It makes zero sense. It's the larger iPad that needs it most.

[QUOTE="2) reduced screen size (12-12.5") ?"
[/QUOTE]

I hope they'll don't do that - the larger screen is one reason for me to use the ipad and not the Microsoft Surface Pro.

My thoughts are with the next iPad update, (major update that is), will be eliminating the home button altogether on the iPads. That said, if Apple has everything aligned with the company Synaptics, they potentially could have the home button embedded in the display.

I also see the 12.9 iPad either being in a smaller footprint or retaining the current size, but with a reduction of the bezels, thus creating more display.
Nah, I don't see this happening just now.

The iPhone is Apple's baby and from what I've heard thus far in the rumors, only one iPhone (let's call it iPhone X) coming this year will have bezel-less displays, home button embedded, etc. It'll be one super premium device that's priced higher than the rest and have features the rest don't have. The 7s, 7s+, as I imagine the less-premium version to be called, will still have the home button, etc. That won't be getting a major redesign.

September 2018 is when Apple will let us know if the lower tiered iPhones will be getting the iPhone "X" features, or if they plan on discontinuing the current iPhone line and introducing a smaller version of the X.

If Apple does make it standard, in any way / shape / form, I think 2019 would be the earliest for an iPad with iPhone "X" features to be introduced. Unless of course, we see a brand new iPad next year. If Apple doesn't, and continues it's three phone models (2 'regular', 1 premium), then it's a safe bet that even in 2019, the iPad won't get those features.

I guess they removed it because they don't want to encourage that kind of usage on something as large as the 12.9... easier to accidentally drop. Add a case like the Otterbox Defender and we're talking lawsuits because of wrist damage. :)

It's strange... I've heard this mentioned many times about it being too big for holding and typing. But to my mind, they made the situation worse by removing the split keyboard. I remember using the 1st gen 12.9 with the split keyboard, before Apple axed it, and it worked absolutely fine. I still hold and type but it's a bit harder to do. Alas, I found an app called Handy that offers a basic, split keyboard. So I can use that for now until Apple comes to its senses. And no, I'm not holding my breath on that one. :D

Honestly, Apple makes some of the strangest decisions about stuff sometimes.

I solved the lack of split keyboard with a keyboard app called Handy. And yes, it is very handy! Really don't know why Apple did away with this option.

Thanks for sharing this. The lack of split keyboard was really holding me back pushing the button, this has made my day!

Still hope for an official split with a future release of iOS 11. I use work apps for email and internal comms that don't allow use of 3rd party keyboards for security reasons.

You're welcome! I was glad to see there was at least an option to get the split keyboard back on the 12.9.

I see you're in Edinburgh... I was there just a few weeks ago (from Toronto, Canada). Really great city! It was our first time in Scotland (and the UK for that matter). What an amazing place.

Edinburgh is a wonderful city...when it's not raining...which is rarely! :)
