Thank you for your comments. Think people like myself are getting conflicting information about the screen quality. You have clarified it somewhat - looks good with HDR content, but everything else seems to be the same. I hardly watch HDR content ( and even then have a HDR tv for movies) so think I’ll stay with my current 11 inch Pro
This is accurate. I have the new one and old one side by side. My instinct, just restoring one to the other, was that browsing and general use didn’t change much at all. It was only when viewing them side by side with the same content/webpage, etc on both that I noticed the difference.

I’m curious… have you tried LumaFusion? It’s an impressive video editor… especially for an iPad App.
I was hoping for free software Apple already makes. If I have to spend the money on the app I will, but we’ll see what WWDC brings.

If you looking for free video editing app from Apple.. then you should go ahead with iMovie. But if you expect Apple to bring something equivalent to Final Cut Pro for free... you'll be disappointed. Paying 29.99 for the best video editor on the iPad isn't too bad considering how much we paid for these newest iPad Pros.

And on top of that LumaFusion isn't hiding behind a subscription. There's the storyblocks subscription and FCP Export... but that's all optional.

At $30 it is a great deal - Adobe Premiere Elements is $70 for a PC version (and $240 for the Pro version).

I don’t expect final cut. The iPad version of iMovie is missing features you can find on the Mac version. I just want Apple to bring those features to the iPad.

If I used video editing software more, I’d probably buy it. I use iMovie once a year or so and just want feature parity. I can use my MacBook Pro until that happens or it dies (currently the 2012 model). Not a huge need, just a want.

How do you get an extension in return date?
Um.. according to some user on MR, it’s something you can initiate through the website on your order. I’m not sure what exactly you need to look for, but supposedly on the last day to return… you have an option to initiate a return, then that gives you about a week or so to successfully return it.

I believe that would be the extension @LFC2020 is referring to.

Battery life only seems not great with media content that the moment. Managed to get over 10 hours screen on time today.

the blooming a non issue for me…if it’s something I need to try and find and look for it’s time to forget it and just enjoy the device.

I bought 2 and both of them have dead pixels. How hard is it to get a decent panel on such a small (comparatively speaking) screen.

Dead pixels are an insta return for me

Well, after prolonging it. I went ahead and opened mine.

First impressions…. The weight is definitely noticeable, I realized that as soon as I picked it up. XDR display wasn’t really a huge shock to me, perhaps because I didn’t um.. test it for HDR content. I sense a speed increase in certain areas, just in loading up apps. But it’s not groundbreaking.

I haven’t tested CenterStage, I plan on using it sometime soon… Dave2D mention that’s one of the biggest reason to upgrade. So, I’m looking forward to that. I haven’t tested the rear camera yet, but I’m sure it will be a huge improvement over my 2018 iPP model. But that’s pretty much all there is to it. I didn’t order a new MK… using my current dock and K2 Keychron Keyboard.

Awaiting on WWDC.

Spent another hour in the Apple store. The 12.9 screen definitely looked whiter and sharper to me - this alone has made me change my mind. Now just need to keep checking Amazon and Apple store daily for stock to come in....

Check Best Buy as well. They had a 256gb + cellular come online this morning for purchase (through their ‘Notify Me’ option).

Thanks but I'm in the UK. And the only stores I trust for customer service is Apple, Amazon and Costco and none of them have stock sadly.

Don't notice the weight really, as it was already pretty heavy. Screen is a big improvement. Incredible really. The whites I didn't expect, as the talk is mostly of the blacks.

It's nice. A substantial upgrade.

Lol, for the time being. My return date is on the 8th, when WWDC arrives on the 7th... what Apple announce for iPadOS will be the deciding factor if I plan on keeping it.

Didn't notice the weight? Granted, the difference is minuscule. But I noticed it immediately...I'm curious what model are you upgrading from?

I'm sitting outside enjoying using the iPad in bright sun and wow!!! Had to turn off the reduce bright point to have the screen bright enough for me to use outdoors. my 2015 model screen was to dark to see outdoors. ?????

Yeah, I would doubt that anyone actually notices the weight unless they’re holding one in each hand. And, with the screens off, I’d still wager that most folks couldn’t tell which was which better than 50% of the time. Same with the thickness. If they can pinch an object and tell it’s thicker by a HALF a millimeter without having access to the other device for comparison, then they’ve got godlike caliper fingers :)

I asked this question in another thread, but no one answered

My return date with Apple is until the 6th June, can I start the return on the 6th or does that mean I should do it before 11:59pm on the 5th?

Until June 6 means exactly that. You can start the return on June 6.

If you want to play it safe though, you can always start the RMA on June 5.
