Surprised safari tabs still reload even with 8GB of ram. Not the same for all apps though.
Which post mentioned reloads?

@Mac407 mentioned there's no refresh on his new iPad even with many tabs unlike the 2018 Pro.
So one thing I noticed on my new iPad Pro 12.9 is on safari, no matter how many tabs I leave open, when I return back to them there’s no refresh. I even checked the settings if app refresh was turned on, and it is. I always had a constant refresh every time I would switch a tab on my 2018 12.9 256 pro.

Then I suspect you have something wrong with your unit. I see nothing like that, I see halo effects from it being too bright before I see any blooming (tested by covering up the object on the screen). Did you update to the .1 update and then restart like some people suggested?
No, I generally do not update any software just for them to close a jailbreak loophole. It would anger me to discover they changed something for the ipad and not put it in the notes. .1 is supposed to be a "security" fix

I had a question for you about that. So I believe you have applied the ESR Tempered glass right ? Do you feel by any ways after applying the Tempered glass the screen brightness the colours is dimmed ? Do you feel after applying the screen protector the overall experience of the Liquid Retina XDR Display screen is spoiled ? Applying the Screen Protector reduces the true colour of the 12.9” Liquid Retina XDR Display from popping out ?

Well there are people on these boards that reported that before the update they had a lot of blooming and after installing it and restarting they can barely notice it. My guess is that there was some zero day bug fix with the mini-LED display, could explain why some people seem to have it bad and other like me can barely notice it.

I cannot say either way personally since I installed the .1 update when setting up the device (my backup from my 2020 model was on the .1 so I think it was needed).

Could always be confirmation bias.

Oh wow! Much better. It's still there, but half as bad. 14.5.1 really does have improvements.
To be 100% sure I have to wait til this evening when it is dark, but the first impression while cupping the display with my hands is significant

Great that it got better! Did you restart after you had installed it? That’s what some people said was needed for them to get it good.

I did not. The OS already has to restart after the update. Don't see the logic in that

Yeah I failed to see the logic as well, although I don’t know how updating is staged combined with starting up hardware resources like the display controller. Just repeating what others posted here, could be BS but since it doesn’t cost to try it I thought I would mention it.

I receive mine on Friday like probably half the world as always it was easy to set up by using my phone. The unit so far is very snappy I like the fact that somethings happen very fast and video like a streaming service from a cable company or YouTube etc. looks wonderful picture and picture is nice as always. I was surprised that it did weight more .

I purchased the 256 gig with cellular. Does this new iPad have the value that is pervade. Honestly it's a giant phone. Yes it is faster yes I like the big screen he has the OS is fine but unless you're using certain apps it's best to use things like Google docs online or Microsoft office online the actual iPad apps are a bit crippled and some of the simple functionality we do on your computer is a bit tedious on the iPad that said now for the Apple keyboard and trackpad that you can purchase separately. It seems to work as advertised and as you would expect I like the fact that you can use the trackpad and it makes it feel like you're using a laptop. What's my basic triage work when I'm traveling or just want to send something quickly make it very effective again though is it really worth the price?

When we look at cost of a device like this is extremely expensive there's no getting around it with a laptop be better like a MacBook Air their answer is yes if you're not using a pencil or really care about a touchscreen and you're not doing a lot of drawing you're better value is a MacBook Air it has a little bit better set up for configurations and a little bit better expandability than an iPad with a keyboard. The question is will I keep this device the jury is still out I like the fact that it has cellular and then I can be anywhere in the world and stay connected phone.

I deal with this device was to replace the TV and Apple TV that I had in my office also the value of sidecar against computer is also fun because now I can play some things on a smaller screen that I don't reveal all the time and then work and focus on other things on my 27 inch iMac which Sunday I hope Apple decides to bring out a larger by Mac crossing fingers.

Since I had an old 128 gig pro version with a keyboard it's a big step up. But again for most people a MacBook Air would probably suffice but in my case on replacing a 32 inch monitor a bunch of hardware with this iPad to make more space on my desk since it connects pretty seamlessly with iMac I can reduce the clutter on my desk quite a bit and that does bring some value to me.

So am I crazy or are the speakers on the 2021 model significantly louder as well as having an improved soundstage (i.e. more roomy sound) over the 2020 and 2018 models? I only have an 11-inch 2020 Pro to compare to, so maybe it's a 12.9-inch feature. I don't really see any reviews mentioning this, but I find myself rather blown away, is it in my head?

I didn’t notice a difference. At the same volume setting on the devices side by side, I didn’t notice one was significantly different from the other, but I’ll check those other threads.

EDIT: Nothing really in those other threads yet. My test was on a standard YouTube video, maybe I’ll try again with some musical content for bass comparison.

For MOST people, a $329 iPad would suffice or $429 if they want to be connected all the time via cellular. A MacBook Air would be extreme overkill for most people.

$459 for cellular (LTE is $130 upcharge on iPad and iPad Air) and rarely goes on sale that’s not linked to contract unlike the wifi-only models.

But yeah, especially with A12, it’s a great option that will last years (assuming low local storage doesn’t bother one).

the speakers are different on the 2121 model compared to the 2020 model and yes I agree they sound better. there was a review (forgot who) where they ran magnet paper over the back of the 2021 and the 2020 and you could see clear as day they are different.

Probably since no one has yet to provide photo evidence of before and after update.
True, but my confirmation bias has to get through my high standards & pickiness. So if I'm happy with it now, that's all that matters :D

Edit: okay after using it in the evening it isn't much better. I think it has improved somewhat, but can't rule out confirmation bias anymore
