Enjoy, great device, can't put mine down, love everything about it.
I enjoy most things. For those angry at the blooming effect, it’s really not that noticeable in situations where you’re looking at the screen for an extended period of time. And watching movies is a much better experience with the top and bottom black areas not being illuminated.

I just want Xcode, desktop-class iMovie, and support for multiple external (non-mirrored) displays, and I’ll be 100% happy.

I’m looking at using my iPad as my laptop going forward.

I’m hoping iPadOS 15 or 16 will bring more functionality. Took a risk, we’ll see if it pays out.
Same here. But I’m by no means a pro user. I was dying for a bigger screen on a laptop (was looking at the 14 inch MBP and trying to wait for it) but I really wanted to get into digital art so I pulled the trigger.

The other route I could go is to get the 128gb iPad and a MacBook Air (be it last years or whatever is coming out) but im thinking the iPad may be sufficient and will remain hopeful it is.

As expensive as this set up is, it’s cheaper than buying another laptop.

I’m curious… have you tried LumaFusion? It’s an impressive video editor… especially for an iPad App.

It would take me 50 years to fill up a 2TB iPad ? nice purchase.
Every time I read something like this I think of the first time I got a zip disk. “100 MB, I’ll never need any more storage again”

But for context. I have a 2tb 2017 model. I’m now at the point where I might start to need more.

Ha, I remember thinking that with those Syquest 44mb disks (those things sounded pretty cool when they spun up), 100mb Zips, and 1gig Jaz.

I am in Australia and have had my 12.9" 256gb Wifi and MKB for 4 days now, was a spur of the moment decision saw they were in stock in Harvey Norman on release morning so grabbed one, lucky as no stock since in that store, was a risk as there is no return from them unless faulty.
$2340 all up ouch. Lucky i get the 10% gst back also a tax deduction, and got $650 back from my 2.5 year old 2018 11" 64gb 4g, also saving on a data plan as can just hotspot when needed, 64gb was too small too.
I didn't see the point of getting the new 11" screen is the same, have always wanted to try the 12.9 so did.

Wow this thing is a beast, everything is so fast and so smooth, video quality and the colours/blacks are brilliant, the bigger screen is so worth it, huge upgrade. The old 11" blacks were more grey.
Love the keyboard with track pad, i just take the iPad off and use with no case when i don't want the keyboard.
Had the folio case only on my 11".
Weight and size is no issue just like when i went to the 12 pro max used to it in a few days and couldn't go back.
Not seeing any issues.
I have a late 27" 5K iMac fusion with 24gb ram and this iPad is faster and smoother to use.
Also connection to my AirPods max and AirPods is a lot better too.

Enjoy your iPads. Ignore the haters.

they're dbrand skins, check out their website.
I had come close to ordering a dbrand skin in the past (for the iPhone) but I finally went for it for this keyboard. I went with the Sky Blue (hopeful that it’ll be close to a Tiffany’s blue) and an orange frame for the iPad. Odd color combo (as I’m an odd duck) but it looked neat on the website. I am excited for this product. Yours looks great.

LumaFusion is a super powerful video editor beyond desktop iMovie. I second that recommendation that was mentioned above.

I never said it would be extremely crappy. There is some blooming, as can be seen in one of LFC2020’s images. He may like it more than his OLED, but that isn’t proof that I would. I think in a pitch black environment, I would prefer my OLED for most HDR content. OLED TVs are extremely close to reference monitors within the range of brightnesses they can show, and the range most real-world HDR content is mastered at and I don’t think a theoretically perfect display would look significantly better than OLED.

I definitely think I’d vastly prefer the mini-LED in the new iPad than the one in my iPad 10.5” in 99% of circumstances. My 10.5” looks awful in darker scenes in movies.
Whaaa!!!! Whaaaaa!!! Whaaaa!!! ? ???

Just received my 12´9. Already have iPad Air 2021 and iPad Pro 11" 2020. I was underwhelmed by the screen. Looks nice when playing movies (HDR) but absolutely no difference when browsing web etc. Returning this and keeping my Pro 11".
Thank you for your comments. Think people like myself are getting conflicting information about the screen quality. You have clarified it somewhat - looks good with HDR content, but everything else seems to be the same. I hardly watch HDR content ( and even then have a HDR tv for movies) so think I’ll stay with my current 11 inch Pro

If I wanted to make a video from past road trip, would you recommend LumaFusion to a beginner over iMovie?
Sorry for OT.

I have a Mac mini, a 15” MacBook Pro and I have the new 11” iPad Pro, and after ordering the new iPad, I thought I should have gone 12.9 1Tb, since I am using the MacBook Pro less and less.

will see what iOS 15 brings, and then have to consider about selling the 11” 2021 iPad and my 2018 MacBook Pro

Why not get a extension on your return date from apple, then swap It for a 12.9" after wwdc

Well, tbh… LumaFusion is not all that complicated. Obviously, it’s a learning curve to LumaFusion… but with time and some YT tutorials, you‘ll figure out the basics. It‘s the best video editor app for the iPad.

That’s always been my mindset since the iPad first came along. I personally felt that having both a laptop and a iPad, just seemed too close in form. I went from having a laptop to having a desktop (during the years owned a Mac Mini, 21” iMac, 27” iMac). Then, last year decided to sell the 27” iMac while staying entirely with an iPad. I do have a PC, but it’s primarily for a Plex server.

I only got the Mac Mini this year, I only had the MacBook Pro and iPad prior, mostly due to my living situation. Now that’s changed, I got the desktop and now thinking having all 3 is excessive for my needs.
