No it doesn't. I mean, no I'm not willing. It's not a big enough advantage to overcome the extra weight.

Yes, for you, it wasn't. For other people, it is.

To anyone who owns both models: Can you please tell me if the screen on the 9.7" has a much more yellow screen than the 12.9"? I have True Tone turned off, and the whites on the smaller Pro are much yellower than on my larger Pro. Wondering if all models are like this, since I'm on my second one.

I don't have the 9.7 iPP, but in my experience, the amount of yellow on an iDevice can vary, even among different units from the same model. That is, two 9.7 iPP could have different amounts of yellow.

Too heavy? My 2 1/2 year old daughter carries around and holds our iPad 3 just fine.

Its happened and we haven't even made it to space yet.

It's more that it's big and unwieldy for me. I loved the size of the screen and the weight sans case was fine but for my uses which includes carrying my iPad to the gym to watch on an elliptical. It was too large. Honestly I do miss the 12.9. But it wasn't the right device for my uses.

But other people don't count. Only those who own both. That is what this thread is asking.

Where does it say this thread is only asking the opinion of people who own both? And in any case, I imagine that'd be a small number, since most people are likely to own one or the other, but not both. I do own an Air2 and an iPP 12.9, so I think I have a good idea of the weight difference between the two Pros.

I also want to hear people's opinions on having a 12.9 and 9.7 pro

I have both and tbh the 12.9 is an amazing screen, that's obvious. But Im starting to believe the perfect set up is a laptop and 9.7 with Smart Keyboard.

The 12.9 is a great device but it's just seems to try hard.
Also your hand gets more tired lifting to click stuff, since lack of mouse. I'm not being lazy, but doing hours long work, gets a bit tiring.. Compared to mouse.

Thinking that 9.7 pro with Smart Keyboard for light but productive work.. then MacBook to whip out when big screen and computer like work is needed.

Thoughts? That's my two cents.

I love that the 12.9 charges with lighting though.
Hate that on the go.. If you have MacBook and iPad you need both cables and chargers.

good thoughts.

I'm sticking with the 12.9 Pro. So far, working great for a lot of what I would use a notebook for (though I've had to alter some of my workflows)... remotely connecting to my iMac when I need OSX. The larger size and Pencil are causing me to rethink some of the things that I didn't do (or think possible) with the smaller Air 2.

I have reason to believe/hope the next update to iOS is going to make the 12.9 really shine.

I've just picked up a 12.9 Pro and its huge, good huge though. The 9.7 was too small for my needs. Very happy here!
"good huge" LOL, love it! :D

I have had both now for a few days and love the form factor of both.I have switched between them, using word, Safari, MLB.tv and Citrix app for work. I have screen shared on the 12.9 which I would have struggled with on the 9.7, but walking around the office environment with the 9.7 has been easier. Both are good for media consumption but the 12.9 does have the edge in that department.

I am traveling over the next few days and will take both so I will report back on how I get on. At the moment I have no desire to send any of them back and haven't used my MacBook or iMac in days.

I was 100% sure that I wanted the 9.7 iPad Pro, until I walked in to the Apple store earlier today, all of a sudden all I can think of, is how beautiful that big iPad Pro is. I left the store without getting a new iPad, while I am doing research on the iPad Pro.

While I well agree on everyone that the 12.9 is an awesome screen. Overall I just thought the screen to keyboard ratio looks overboard .. And maybe this isn't the right word but "try hard" somewhat doesn't seem flow-ish. Lol sorry for my words but best way to describe.

And since the screen is big.. Tapping and touching got a little tiring for extensive work (1hr+).. While on the 9.7 it didn't seem as much that way.. Sure it was bit annoying to tap once and awhile but it just kept flowing more productively to me than the 12.9.

I personally believe 12.9 is great for artist that need that space..

But for me I'm doing emails, iMessage, Safari, notes, and keynote. Simple notebook work that an be done on a smaller scale. Once awhile I use the pen for graphing something up quickly.

So I believe 9.7 is awesome for a mini notebook/laptop work. 12.9 I can't seem to justify over just whipping out the good ol macbook at that point. Other than hating to carry Around an extra charger
[doublepost=1459929443][/doublepost]I am just debating if I like the Smart Keyboard or the magic keyboard better

Using the Smart Cover in flat stand.. when wanted it nice

This "flat stand" was the reason why I chose the Smart Cover together with the magic keyboard. I don't wanted to give up on this.....

I have the 12.9 and have no intentions on getting the 9.7, I'm happy with my choice.

What work you do on the pro?

I hear you. Which pro do you have? 9.7 or 12? What work do you do on it

I have the 12.9 and love it! It took a while to understand the idea behind the 12.9 but after I got it it's wonderful....I am using it for presentations at customer sites. If there are not too many people I can put it upright on the desk and sometimes even using the pencil to illustrate something. On bigger events the beamer is connected too. The 9.7 is definitely too small for that.

Additionally I do remote support on Windows VMs. The screen resolution is 1200*1600 and the 9.7 is also too small with 800*1200.

I agree. I totally love the real estate but that's the thing that bugs. In stand up mode it just seems like everyone can see everything you're doing or even reading. With 9.7 it's more private. As I said I have both and seeing which fits my needs

While I do not have the 9.7 pro, I've extensively compared my 12.9 ipp with an Air 2 (same size as 9.7 pro) and I just cannot see the appeal of going back to a smaller pro. Sure the 9.7 is more portable, but the amount of screen real estate lost does not make it worth the difference in portability in my opinion.

People have carried 15-17 inch laptops for years and no one blinks, yet someone brings out a 13 inch tablet and people flip out about how it isn't portable. I completely get that some people don't use their iPad as a laptop replacement, and for them, 9.7 may be more comfortable as a media device. But for those that are using their "pro" tablet as a laptop replacement, the 12.9 is much better for productivity simply because of its screen real estate.

My observations after using both the 12.9 since November and the 9.7 since last Friday are as follows:
- The 9.7 is definitely easier to carry and feels better as a tablet to me.
- After getting used to the 12.9" screen, there was a bit of a "re-learning" curve back to the smaller 9.7" screen.
- I found it easier to use the on-screen keyboard on the 9.7". For whatever reason I couldn't really get used to the on-screen keyboard on the 12.9".
- The Smart Keyboard for the 12.9" is MUCH better since it is full size. Too bad Apple didn't design a fold-out keyboard for the 9.7" that made it bigger. Sure, it would have been thicker, but I find it hard to touch-type on the 9.7 Smart Keyboard. I'm debating whether to return it and just use a Smart Cover. In theory I could carry the larger Smart Keyboard but then I'd still need a 9.7" cover and would lose some portability.

Overall, I plan to keep the 9.7". The portability trumps the better Smart Keyboard for me.

I guess that's why Apple has 3 different iPad sizes.

Someone could argue that the 7.9" is better than the 9.7" due to portability. Granted the 7.9" doesn't have Pencil or Smart Keyboard support... But it's just the fact that your choosing portability which makes the 7.9" iPad better suited for you.

I, for one... Know that the 12.9" iPad can be a struggle to hold and as you say not exactly portable as the smaller iPads. But I find that the on-screen keyboard better on the 12.9" compared to the 7.9" due to the full layout of it.

But it's pretty good idea of Apple gives us these ranges to choose from.. "What a time to be alive!"

Is it the weight of the bigger Pro that pushes people to the 9.7 or dimensions? Both? We're used to taking laptops around so it's funny to see how the 12.9 is almost described as some sort of oversized monster when it's 1kg with the ASK connected.

How much moving around does one actually do? I'm usually sat at a desk or on the sofa with it on my lap. It sounds like some of you are constantly roaming and can't hold it! I actually do this no problem with the bigger 12.9 Pro when I use it as a mobile whiteboard that Air plays back to my Apple TV on a big screen. I don't even bother snapping off the keyboard either.

I found that I now use the iPad for much more than I used to since I got the 12.9 from the small Air 2. Split view and typing on a decent sized keyboard made all the difference, which is a clumsy and compromised experience on a sub 12-inch device of any kind.

IPad is usually claimed to be a consumption rather than production device. However, I think the 12.9 really made increased the production aspect. Sure it's not a laptop for more complex tasks. But it also beats a laptop for things too. And it always trumps the smaller iPads for media consumption.

I've now had the bigger Pro for over a month and is put the Air 2 in the shade to the point where it's probably time to sell given how dusty it gets.

I want to buy the Pro as a birthday gift for my sis. What do you guys recommend the 12.9 or 9.7? She loves art and loves to draw and paint so I'll also be getting the Pencil along with it.
