I caved and upgraded my 11" M1 256gb to the corresponding M4. Got the keyboard, case, and pencil. Traded in the M1 at Apple.

Definitely a want and not a need. The screen is noticeably better from my vantage point. Keyboard is also nice with the aluminum cover on the inside. Function keys are good too.

The pencil is, well, a pencil. I am not an artist, but I do use the pencil for annotating things, so I needed the pencil.

As far as weight and thinness, not really a large deal to me. I am a tech nerd and just wanted to get the update, so I did.

How much did the Apple store give you on your m1?

Got to say the new Magic Keyboard is the best thing for me at present. Super nice, trackpad and keys are like using an Air. Hope the back cover holds up as it got very grainy and marked on my old 2018 Pro.

Screen isn't as a bigger deal as I thought. Yes it's OLED so you get that contrast but it's not as huge as I thought so far.

Pencil is the pencil - I can't for the life of me at present get the find me to work so maybe that's broken at present?

Tbh, I wouldn’t open it... I’ll take it to the store, to show them what happened to the box.

I’m awaiting on my order from them as well… if the box is that condition, I’m definitely taking it to Best Buy.
I’m still angry they refused ship to store. The product is there.

Both my brother and I noticed that closing the cover doesn’t turn off the iPad. Anyone else noticed this?

It’s a non issue. Some people just love to complain.
Is it really? It looks pretty bad in this photo.

Really. That is a macro shot of a display. Any display will fall apart under those circumstance. Again, some people just love to complain. It is a non issue.
Unless you have zoom lenses in eyes. Misery loves company.

Mine got here this morning, but my keyboard isn’t here yet, and I have to head to a ballgame so I won’t be unwrapping and setting it up til I get home tonight. I’m definitely itching to get it done!!

Viewing angles are not so great compared to the iPhone's OLED display. You can clearly see not so inky blacks when you lay it down on a table in dark mode vs. when using it in the Magic Keyboard or holding it in your hand.

Some immediate impressions after a few hours of use of a Space Black iPad 13" 1TB with Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard.

Weight and size, along with overall industrial design, is phenomal. It's hard to believe the amount of technology packed into this thin of a device. I'm coming from a 2020 12.9" iPad Pro, so the weight reduction feels significant. It feels just as a sturdy as the previous model, too.

The Magic Keyboard is a huge improvement. The trackpad alone feels so much better the original Magic Keyboard. Typing feels better than my Macbook Pro so far...I guess I feel a bit more immersed with the magic keyboard and the iPad screen since it sits closer to my face.

And speaking of the screen, it's really a thing of beauty. The blacks are so inky, the colors are really vibrant. I did a couple of Lightroom photo comparisons side-by-side with my old iPad, and the new OLED screen is so crisp and vibrant. I wasn't expecting a huge change, but my expectations are far exceeded.

The old iPad is going to my Dad, so it'll be put to good use. But I think for anyone on the fence wanting to upgrade, the screen and weight are big quality of life improvements...along with the Magic Keyboard. Excited to take this on the road and do some shooting/editing.
