If you go back really far in the thread, most of the earlier shipment iPads went through Taiwan (Don't recall the city but I assume it's the same. They also seemed to have a lot less weirdness, but that could be the different in corona disruption, not the different in location.

i'd say it depends on how much you want the new one. also... other places seem to have some versions available for quicker shipping (i.e. best buy). I was too cheap to go that route cuz i get the 10% military discount and will be getting he 3% apple card cash back (so in reality 1.5% cash back gain).... sucks that BB won't price match the apple military/education store... i woulda given up an extra 1.5% cash back to get it sooner.... but the overall savings was more than my cheapskate self would justify!

I did the same thing. I was going to order from Best Buy but they were not matching the education price, so I opted to get it straight from apple. Hopefully, my iPad arrives by Friday.

Yeah, also went with Apple for the educational discount - also stupidly thought it would deliver from my local store, since the news at the time was all about local stores shipping.

Kind of disappointing to see people who ordered a week after me have delivery dates within a few days of mine, but maybe that means the shipping lines have adapted and is not a personal attack on my character.

Here's my iPad journey for entertainment value:

COVID sure has made a mess of everything! Mine is supposed to arrive 14-16th. I haven’t even gotten to the shipping hell yet, my card is not charged and the order is still processing :mad:

It's good they aren't lonely! I was checking the dates, and it looks like mine was scanned at about the same time as few people had theirs bouncing back and forth between Korea and China, so I wonder if it's the same shipment, mine just didn't happen to have a weird South Korea scans?

Yeah mine bounced to Korea and back once, before it ended up like yours at the moment, I have no idea what is going on

I don’t know why people think they can’t get the Best Buy educational discount. I did. You just order the iPad through the Best Buy site and then call them when it’s delivered and show them the Apple education store site and they put back $100 on my credit card.

Until I started following this thread after I ordered.... I expected it earlier because Apple has always set very safe delivery dates! Things have always come early or the first day of the spread... Heck... even my apple watch came earlier than promised and the one time I missed release day on my phone it came earlier than the promised day.... I assume (incorrectly) the same thing with the iPad.... *pout* My pencil was supposed to deliver the 17th to 21st and came today! (overnight... next day!)

Shoot... at the rate it's going... the loooooooooooooong delivery date for my not-so-2-day-prime screen protector will get here on may 2 before my iPad! maybe my dbrands skin, too....
 
I just ordered an 11inch wifi Pro with the 128gb, yes my first baseline. I have had the 2018 12.9 cell model and use it alot for comics and editting video for the former its a bit large to ready comfortably and i wanted to try the 11", i may sell the 12.9 if i find i like the smaller size. Supposed to be here from Best Buy on Thursday

Mine was ordered on the 13th with a delivery estimate of 22/4-24/4.

Shipped today, so I'm hoping it comes early (i'm in China)

[edit: update, just got a notice it'll be here in 2 days from SF, the Chinese shipping company. Looks like delays are definitely a product of shipping out of China and not in production at this end.]

I emailed UPS again and my shipment immediately departed from Incheon. :p

Fingers crossed it's heading to Anchorage and not ZhengZhou again.

I feel bad for ZhengZhou because I have now been programmed to hate and fear it now, even though it is only the UPS facility that has wronged me. :( If I ever visit China I'm going to have to visit ZhengZhou just to put a face to the name that haunts me.

Edit: UPS just deleted the 9:45pm departure scan from Incheon and now there is a 1am departure scan from Incheon. I suspected they were deleting and replacing scans before but I never happened to catch it close enough to be sure. So who knows if it's actually left Incheon, or will anytime soon. I am going to scream.

Same here but just checked again and the date of the departure scan from Incheon changed to 16/04... some real time travelling going on at UPS
 
Well I have my case and Apple Pencil but iPad is still processing. 11" 128 GB WiFI Space Gray ordered 4/11 - Still shows delivery window of 4/17-21
