Most of the videos I have seen they are applying decent force in a specific location. In normal use i don’t think that happens on a normal basis

It was funny that Siri I don’t understand. She meant to say I don’t understand how stupid you are to bend a new iPad.

wants that viral video. Enough views and it’ll pay for several iPads.Being the jerk I am, hope he doesn’t get those views.

As others have said you can choose not to buy. For me, as others have also said, I’ve had mine since launch, take it with me places and I’ve never had an issue with it bending.

iPad Pro 2020 Bend test...

Sucks they did not improve the structural integrity of this new iPad. Will wait for possible revision end of year :(
Our small business own 4 2018 iPad Pros, two 12.9 and two 11, have never had any bending issues and we use them everyday.

I’ve never understood ”bendgate”. Treat them with the same amount of care you would a MacBook and you have nothing to worry about.

I bought an '18 iPad Pro 12.9.
Returned it promptly.

I've got a first gen I found on Swappa. I'm not a fan of thin but I was even less a fan of no headphone jack, different charger, and Face ID.

It is just a television replacement for me after all.

YouTube has videos of 10.5 pros and iPad minis being bent, yet no one makes a big deal about those........

A thin piece of aluminum bends. Who would have guessed?:rolleyes:

That's the problem. For the price they charge they could make it out of carbon fiber or magnesium or a stronger grade of aluminum or even a good strong plastic, especially after all the furor over its predecessor's frailty. This is not a device that stays in one place on a desk; it is meant to be constantly carried around in a variety of conditions and situations.

I switched to Samsung tablet. No bending problems. Not going back, not now.

Microsoft use magnesium for some (all?) of its products, and I think given the thinness, that would have been a great choice.

My concern regarding the iPad is how prone to bending under normal circumstances, not how bendy it can be when someone forcibly tries to bend it. I'm unsure if I'm willing to spend over a 1,000 dollars for a tablet, especially given how little it was improved - this of course is a topic for another thread, but the context here is, I'm spending 1,000 and I want some assurances that it will not bend

This again? Really? OF COURSE anything like this is going to bend if you apply that much pressure to it. He’s trying to bend it. Therefore, he bends it. I’ve had my 2018 12.9 since launch day and it is still perfect. Normal use is not going to bend this thing. It’s that simple.

Like Yogi Berra used to say, "It's deja vu all over again." Might as well attach this to the big thread up on top. Meet the new Ipad build, same as the old Ipad build.

Clearly this update wasn’t meant for you (or anyone who has a 2018 model really). As someone who had their iPad Pro replaced because of a bent chassis videos like this drive me crazy. These are just viral videos looking for views. They don’t tell you if this issue has been fixed or not.

Sheer idiocy. I don’t drive my Cayman into a phone pole to test its bend resistance, just as I don’t reef on my IPad Pro like this for internet clicks.

you do understand that in the same physical dimensions, magnesium is a lot weaker (~20%) than even 6061 aluminum, right?
