This is something I’ve never managed to get my head around. Why don’t manufacturers put a sim tray In laptops?! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think “back in the day” cell companies used to have data plans for USB-A devices that would keep a laptop connected. If I remember correctly the plans were expensive?? It was long enough ago that I never had one of those plans. Either I couldn’t afford the plan or the laptop at the same time. Lol... Those devices may still exist?? I have no idea.

1) Extensive USB-C support
2) Mouse and/or trackpad support
3) A more ‘thorough’ and user accessible file system.
4) Bootcamp support, but for OS X

This isn’t IOS 13 but I want a proper, backlit keyboard folio for the 2018 12.9 IPP.

Tom

It’s interesting to see people’s wish list for IOS 13, from the rumours and what Mark Gurman has said, it sounds like some of you will be happy while others not so much.

The home screen is rumoured to be getting a redesign, I wonder if that means Apple will move away from having apps in a row and so far apart (on the iPad at least).

Mark Gurman also mentioned Apple Pencil features, my guess is to do with the touch surface area of the 2nd generation Apple Pencil, maybe guestures?

I just hope we get a integrated cursor, and a file system, with a revised home screen. I think these are the main features everybody is after.

Mouse support to make a dual monitor setup truly productive (so extended display instead of mirrored). External hard drive support and a more functional Files app. Dunno how to better explain this, but if I could resize apps with a mouse like with a normal mouse on the external display that would be great. I don’t want every app to be full screen.

I don’t even need a redesigned home screen to be honest. Mouse support so I can dock to a display is most important to me. I would buy an iPad Pro in an instant.

Hey I’m good with strictly added mouse support. Or a integrated cursor at least.

I hope they add these features. I’ve got a worrying feeling apple will not add mouse support.

Does anyone here actually think they will add a integrated cursor? Or mouse support?

No I don’t think they will add mouse support, Apple have said in the past that the Mac is for point and click with a mouse while the iPad is a touch device, it’s the reason why they won’t add touch to the Mac. After using a Surface Pro 6 it’s a good call in my opinion.

Rumours and leaks from Mark Gurman are reporting iPad heavy features such as an improved Files app, being able to open multiple tabs within apps, Apple Pencil improvements, redesigned home screen and being able to run two instances of the same app.

But an iPad is so powerful, thin, and versatile. Considering the cost of a 1TB cellular model one could easily buy a nice used late model MacBook Pro.

Sometimes when I’m typing, I’ll hold down the space bar to get the edit tool to pop up, then I’ll pretend or imagine it is a cursor lol. It’s so smooth, I only wish it was a real cursor.

I don’t want a MacBook Pro, and I do not care for a Surface Pro 6 either. I use my iPad Pro a lot for gaming. And I really like how well the games are optimized for it, and how great they can make the graphics look on a device with such minimal GPU power. When I’m not gaming I’m using Adobe rush, surfing the web, or watching movies.

Hopefully a much revised file system, and a few other things will help me deal with the blow of no cursor.

Either way, my iPad is awesome and I love it, it is easily my favorite device I’ve ever owned. I look forward to ios13.

Whether we like it or not Apple’s answer is to buy both, I love the iPad Pro and I also love my Mac, Apple have kept the two separate for a reason and I can definitely see why.

The iPad Pro I use for drawing, photo editing, gaming and watching content. While the Mac I use for long writing sessions, also photo editing in Pixelmator Pro and some light gaming (Two Point Hospital). I certainly wouldn’t recommend the Surface Pro, in fact the new iPad Pro beats it in benchmarks

Both the Mac and iPad Pro are great devices, Apple just expects people to use both. I can see the iPad Pro getting more and more features but mouse support I don’t think is one of them.

I would love to have an actual file system with the ability to choose which app opens specific files. So for instance I could copy videos on to my iPad and select a file to open with VLC or another software. Or maybe if I had a pdf, then I could choose different programs to open it.

More Pro apps like Final Cut Pro X for iPad Pro. Microsoft office to make IOS version on same par as Mac OS X.
Home screen redesign that allows more apps in the dock.
Opening up same app in multiple workspaces
Making Safari more powerful e.g. download files.
Allowing external hard drives to be connected to iPad and Files system.
Multiple tabs within apps, though already happens in PDF expert for example.

EVERYTHING that is on this list. Especially External Storage (almost 100% certain it will come.)
And my second most important part is Safari. It's really crazy annoying that some websites that require interactivity of sorts, like Facebook Ad Manager are not possible to work with on the ipad because of how Safari is limited. Also about downloads, yes, though for this I'm happy that it works very easily with Siri Shortcuts now. Huge imporivement.
But in general, the limitations of the files app, the way how certain simple tasks are being hindered by the limitations of Safari and certain things like having to use the Share sheet everytime you just want to hand over something to another app (yes, drag and drop was a HUGE improvement already), are making it still very tedious to switch completely to ipad instead of sticking to my macbook.

Pretty sure the iPad Pro has plenty of power to run Final Cut Pro. It’s CPU is well above the minimum spec for Final Cut Pro. We meet the minimum requirements for RAM, and video memory. The 1TB model is even above that.
The only thing right now that is keeping FCP Pro from materialising is the lack of external hard drive support.
I could imagine they announce USB Drive file support and announce either Premiere Pro Touch or FCP down the road. But without the ability to store huge amounts of data externally it just doesnt make sense.

No external storage forced me to buy the 1TB iPad. I’ve got terrible home internet too, so cloud is not a option either.

Note for future reference to anyone.

Before you move in to that nearly perfect house, or apartment. Check out the available internet providers for your address first lol.

I would like all the hardware issues addressed (the bending and most importantly the irresponsive touch/touch disease issues).

I am less interested in the software frankly, as I still do most of my creating on my iMac. My iPad is basically my sketch pad and surfing machine, so I do not need a more robust OS for this. I know the iPad's limitations and I am fine with them. I understand that some may want more and I hope this is addressed for those that want to only use an iPad as their primary device.

The touch issues can only be fixed by replacing your iPad. Coming from someone who has owned (3) of them, neither of them were bent, but my first (2) had a touch issue. It was minor and the 2nd devices touch issues went unnoticed for over a week. But, device number (3) brought a light at the end of the tunnel. No touch issues, even with a screen protector. And boy oh boy do I feel lucky, I am very careful with it too. I honestly feel like I won the lottery with this one.

So, I feel like going through warranty if you have a touch issue will only yield you another device with the same problem. They can easily fly under the radar..

So, there are good ones out there. And I’d do it all again, if it meant being where I’m at now.

It sucks, and we shouldn’t have to deal with this, I was furious too! I was very upset saying horrible things about the new iPads all over this forum.

Personally the only pro feature I’d like to see is the addition of mouse and trackpad support. I know many pro users would love it, but for me, it’d be an accessibility feature more than anything. When I’m using my Bluetooth keyboard to do work that involves a lot of typing, it starts to hurt my wrist and shoulder to use the touchscreen. I have had some injuries there which makes it harder. Not having to use my arm vertically would be soooo much more comfortable.

I’d also like the idea of apps that aren’t optimized for the iPad to open in small floating windows. Maybe that way we’d finally see more missing iPhone apps coming over, like Calculator and Phone.

Lots of little wishes (Siri in a small slide-over window for example) but my big ones are external storage and device driver support. My apogee iOS devices no longer work 100% because Apple deprecated mifi hardware without opening up USB-C driver support.

I have similar issues. In fact sometimes I am starting to feel pain just by using too much my iPad (by too much read more than 1/2 hours a day). The display is big enough for me (9.7 inch, regular one) to cause wrist strain when I start to rely on touch screen and gestures too much.

I want them to address the bugs I currently encounter with iOS. Files app is quite often unresponsive. For iPhone in general I can get around with it though my iPhone is a company one so having to store files in OneDrive is something that I do often. For iPads for me it's unforgivable. The fact that killing the app does not help and I have to wait 30/40 minutes for iOS RAM management to fix this problem is a huge strike for my productivity.

Safari and cursors is another annoying issue that I would not care about on my iPhone, but for iPad is annoying. If I have to write a long post in Safari at some point the cursor vanishes and I can't select text properly (and I need this because I do lots of formatting).

The Notes app can get unresponsive too. It's a shame that I have issues with the few Apple apps that I use (most of them are sitting in a folder called Apple that is never used). I do expect the apps that come as a bundle with the device to work properly. I am willing to accepts bugs in third party apps, but not in the apps created by Apple.

So yeah I would say sure bring new features but also work on stability. I have read a lot of people saying that iOS 12 is actually stable (compared to iOS 11) and that might be true but I have never used iOS 11. I am new iOS user and my first impression of iOS 12 is not a good one. I encountered a lot of bugs with unresponsive Files and Notes app where nothing but restarting the device helps (and that is something I do not want to do). I observe it both on the iPad and the iPhone and I use different cloud accounts so it's not device specific or account specific. Plus I read about those bugs in internet as well. Others encounter them too.

It sounds like you do a lot on your iPad. And you would benefit from a iPad Pro with more cpu power and memory. I own a new iPad 6th gen 9.7” and I think they are great devices. But, any heavy lifting or multitasking work is done on my iPad Pro. It has 3 times more memory for a reason, and alot more storage space too.

I used to do a lot on my iPad (same as yours - regular one, 128 GB, WIFI, space gray I believe). I bought it last year end of September and I wanted to use it as a digital notebook. At that point I would have like 5/6 hours screen time per day. I used it mostly to take notes during work meetings as well as read (and then annotate, highlight etc) pdf files. I would also use it quite often to store PDF files from sites using Safari and then go through the annotate/highlight route. The last step is the one where I usually encountered bugs.

Now I use the iPad a lot less (on average an hour/hour and a half per day). They gave me company 14 inch laptop with touch screen. I now take my notes during meetings using the laptop and leave the iPad only for brainstorming (cases where I do need to sketch ideas). Considering this currently it does not make sense investing in iPad Pro because they are rather expensive for my usage.

I do not play games on my iPad, I do not use it for media consumption either. I use it solely to do handwritten notes and to store PDF files from sites via Safari. I honestly expect regular 6th gen iPad to handle those tasks. I agree that the RAM is not a lot and yeah I do have issues with this but the tasks I do are not that power extensive anyway.

Sadly no. Many people who’ve replaced various iPad Pros have had touch issues pop up again on the replacement. Sometimes immediately, sometimes months down the line.

So yeah it’s nice you got a replacement that’s working, I’ve tried multiple times and keep getting iPPs that have or develop this issue.

I will not buy another iPad Pro until Apple fixes this design flaw. Nor I will not jump through hoops again trying to get another one exchanged only to be refused again. One $1k wash is too much.

most of mine have been mentioned....

Better pencil support. I want to be able to swipe with my pencil to open the docked app, same as swiping up from bottom or down from top. I use my pencil a lot....
