I have an iphone 11 pro OLED and it doesn’t have the bloom, you probably have nightshift on and a **** ton of settings on
Honestly you're losing all credibility here, if I had night shift on my screen would be piss yellow. brightness was maxed out like you asked for. ?‍♂️?

What you’re doing is putting it to 100%, taking a screenshot, then dropping it down to like 10%.

Getting embarrassing now ?‍♂️? you asked for 100% brightness, you got 100% brightness, don't even know why I'm bothering replying to you, next you'll tell me I wasn't even using a mini led iPad.

I had night shift on ?‍♂️?? Couldn't make this stuff up if I tired.

Won't be replying to you anymore.

You got lucky with your beautiful device. When I looked at your picture on my iPhone and I see no issues.. But as soon I look on my iPad in a dark enough room, sadly there’s blooming around there. I will definitely be taking my iPad in soon I get a full 2-3 days off to head to Calgary to have mine checked out.. Its definitely possible mine may be a bum unit for the dark modes. Everything else is perfect, just the night time I will have issues 😳😢😢😭😭

Definitely take it back for a new one, apple customer service and return policy is awesome, had no issues when I took back my first unit which had a damaged back, they took one quick look at it, in and out in 5 minutes, hopefully there is stock for a replacement when you take it back, good luck ?

Uh, the screenshot INLCUDES the brightness setting at 100%.

troll smarter.
Don't waste your time with him, he only has one thing on his mind, which is stirring up trouble, trying to get people angry by trolling, even with everything he asked for, he comes back with cheap insults and constant trolling.

OLED don't bloom because each individual pixel is controllable.

This is the "issue", even with 2500 dimming zones, it's not the several million that an OLED effectively has. Still infinitely better than a normal IPS or VA panel.

But it still a different thing. The miniLED zones themselves cause blooming effect, on top of the glass causing even more.

Whereas with OLED, the glass doesn't really create a blooming effect unless there's a big gap between the panel and the glass (or as others said, the object surrounded by black is too bright).

It's mostly big TVs that can have more space between the panel and the glass, phones and tablets need to be much more compact so they're as tight as possible.

As an owner of several OLED TV's since 2018, I can definitely tell you this phenomenon is present on OLEDs but it's not enough to notice it if you're not looking for it.

lol... yes, watch that video and tell me they're not biased, the first paragraph out of his mouth is:

"Apples new 24" iMac is definitely a hit, with it's brand new design, the incredible M1 chip, the beautiful 4.5K display and the surprisingly light and thin chassis."

The rest is click bait.

It's irrelevant, I like Max Tech, I watch their videos, I "thumps up" their videos, I subscribe to the channel... being biased isn't a defect, it's an attribute.
What the heck are you talking about? Yes, the iMac is indeed a hit as with any new releases from Apple...it's just a fact! What did you want him to say?...Oh, this iMac is not selling as well and here's why....LOL

There’s definitely bloom on my device, it’s all ok, acceptable, except when watching HDR movies.

Yes, HDR movies. there seems to be a ‘cliff’ on the darkness. When watching a darker scene, the picture should transit from bright to dark to darker and to black smoothly, But on this mini LED display there is a cliff, where instead of transiting from dark to black, it just switches from dark to black.

but i have to say it’s only noticeable in a completely dark room, if there is some sort of environment light it’s not that noticeable. But still, it’s super annoying.

Thanks, I hope I will be impressed by tablet as such, esp after wwdc, if they announce proper'ish multi tasking for iPad and maybe some pro app support from mac. Good screen is something I got used to with my previous 10.5 ipp and my gf's 13.5 SB ?

The biggest thing I notice coming from a 6th generation iPad is that the blacks are truly black, almost as black as the bezel. Shadowing I never would have noticed, but it is there slightly. Blooming just seems like my eyes’ normal reaction to bright whites on a dark background — just a little glare. Again, not something I would have noticed on my own, nor is it something that bothers me.
You know yesterday I found some blooming when I was watching white text on black background… FROM MY GLASSES! Now I’m not sure if I should return the glasses or the eyes…

MaxTech is a biased YouTube channel with a deep lean towards Apple products. The end. Anyone can see that, in fact I'm willing to bet if you polled his subscribers you would find the vast majority are fully aware of it.

I think you're confusing them being biased as some sort of attack on them, or perhaps Apple customers in general.

It's none of those things, MaxTech can be biased towards Apple products without having any bearing whatsoever on the quality of value of Apple hardware.

They're biased and Apple products are amazing... both of these things can be true.

It’s a non-issue 99% of the time during normal use. The only time I even think about it is if I have the brightness turned way up and the YouTube UI over black comes up when full screen. Overall I’ve noticed a much better image than my 2018 iPad Pro and I’m happy with my purchase. Instead of looking for specific situations where it’s more noticeable, I just use it like I normally would like I just swapped out my iPad and kept on going.

For the people returning it, this is the tech Apple is going to be using on iPads and MacBook Pro screens for years to come. Maybe even the bigger iMac Pro. Best get used to it, lol. mLED still has some time to go before it’s consumer ready, and I don’t see Apple spending all this time developing this and putting OLEDs into the iPad next year. It’s pretty expensive to do large OLEDs and image burn in may be an issue with a device that’s used more like a computer like an iPad, and definitely for the Macs with tons of static UI elements. Samsung can get them at cost because they make them. I’d say the chances of Apple switching next year are near 0 and the year after 25% if the prices drop and enough people complain. Otherwise it wouldn’t be until the year after that I could see them switching but by then mLED may be taking hold and that’s the holy grail.

No big issue:

Even in this example video, the blooming effect will be increased due to the fact his camera is overexposing the whites. You can clearly see this from the screenshot here. That will make the blooming look worse than it is. It doesn’t matter how pro your camera set up is if it’s set up wrong.

Indeed this will die down quick and people will accept the odd issue in certain situations. If this was all the time then that’s something different but if people are needing to find it then it’s not a problem

Ahh, ok. I’ll stop here. This is becoming a debate that is getting nowhere because you are already set in believing what you want to believe.
