So I don’t know about everyone else but I am hugely disappointed with the iPad Pro line up… new chip and hover, seriously is that it for 18 months of development? Even just adding miniLED to the 11” would have been something, but I am majorly disappointed. I can see iPad Pro sales simply flat lining this year.

Does anyone think this might be one of those short refresh cycles where we see an M3 refresh in 6-12 months…

It just seems very odd that so much effort was put into the 10th gen base iPad which actually has some features which are better than the Pros (landscape orientation, Magic Keyboard folio etc)… it no wonder apple didn’t have an event. What a shambles the line up is right now…

To me it feels like Apple is focusing their attention far more on the cheaper iPad line up and has just given up improving the pro line up at this stage… base line major refresh, Mini again major refresh, iPad Air basically an 11” pro but without a few bells and whistles, the pros are just stagnant now and seriously not worth the asking price at all.
Why are you disappointed? What were you hoping for that you didn’t get? What did Tim Cook promise you and not deliver on?

I want OLED and landscape camera as much as everyone else but that won’t happen until 2024 at the earliest. It would have been nice to have mini LEDs and MagSafe right now though on the 11. I don’t want to wait until 2024 so I picked up the new 11 inch to hold me over

What the heck do you all even want from an iPad? It's insanely overpowered with nothing to use this power on already. There's no other Pro hardware improvements to implement until iPad OS is better or they can do foldables.

The only software innovation apple does these days is how you literally cannot spell iPadOS without capitalising it right. Try it. Unlike other autocorrections this one you can not cancel and type it your way. That's all you get from apple in software.

This video has given me some new ideas and inspiration on how existing features such as drag and drop can be better used.

Maybe the issue isn’t so much about getting more hardware innovation and more of learning to take better advantage of the tools that iPadOS already affords us.

not alot they can add really not until they change the display tech. the areas of improvement would always be in software

Design wise the iPad can only get thinner (but by how much) and the bezels ever slimmer. Beyond that there is no radical design change possible, unless…
- you can make the camera smaller and eliminate the camera bump without losing effectiveness.
- you can fold the display without a noticeable crease.
- or you can magically expand the display to varying sizes and/or ratios.

I am disappointed that the 11” in what will be nearing 6 years come next refresh has only got better cameras, 5G, thunderbolt port and a better chipset.

That is quite abysmal for nearly 6 years of development IMO…

It’s basically an “S” year for the iPad Pros. You’ll get those from time to time.
It’s basically been an S year for the 11” in 2020, 2021 and now 2022. At least the 12.9” got a ‘major’ refresh in 2021 with miniLED.

For someone who doesn't have an iPad Pro or has an older model it is a fantastic Spec.
There is absolutely no need for Apple to release a new iphone/ipad EVERY year with wiz-bang features.
Exactly. OP does not indicate what they are expecting?

It was a refresh, not an 18 month redesign. It wasn't meant to be.
I think the problem is that it’s been 4 years of this design on the iPad Pro. Many of us have been asking for a landscape camera since year 3 of the iPad. So Apple instead makes the new iPad with tons of questionable design decisions, but gives them the landscape camera and function keys on a “cheap” product.

I was hoping they fixed the camera orientation in 2018 or at least 2020 with the Magic Keyboard, but assumed it would not take them 4+ years to do it - still waiting. Most likely it will be 5+ years where the camera is in the wrong position on your most expensive iPads that are priced up to $2,399USD.

It is inexcusable!

You would think apple could fix the off centre gaze on the iPad Pro's with software just like microsoft do with their Surface line.

They cant even fix Stage Manger (its so bad it should be called beta) and the camera in the new Studio display is terrible too. So many bad decisions lately, but it’s becoming the norm for Apple these days.

We need longer updatecycles for everything: iPhone, iPad, iOS, MacOS. I bought into Apple a long time ago because 1. it just worked 2. many features and quality were way ahead of their competition.

Well.. that’s everything you could possibly want upgraded no? What else other than ‘better everything’ do you need?

What’s wrong with it? Works fine for me…
THe better question is what is right with it? It’s laggy on my M1 Pro, the windows resize in strange ways, crashes, typing in text boxes in various apps are hit/miss (mostly miss). It’s clearly not a shipping product, but it is lol.
