You should. I use a magnifying glass to get a closer look.

I looked at mine today and everything looks good..I did the online dead pixel check and I went into a closet LOL and everything looks fine..the last test is to check that warping thing with the letters I forgot what it was but that will be the final test to confirm the ipad is OK

That’s good to hear that phew. isn’t it ridiculous that we have to go to such extremes on hardware that should be defective free? It’s unforgivable.

I’m so glad you brought this up, Samsung and LG should really do better QC on their panels. Makes no sense right?

I just googled test to check for dead pixels and it switched between green, yellow, blue, black and white and I didnt notice anything. I know some have reported grainy issues not sure how to check for that is that something necessary to check for or not worth the time

When I Checked for dead pixels I did it with the brightness a little lower because I always put the brightness down a bit due to me getting headaches from the screen..that does not make a difference right, if there were dead pixels it would appear regardless?

You don't need to have the screens brightness at max but I find it makes it a bit easier to see any dead pixels. Looks like you're very fortunate with a good one, not everyone is so lucky. I have no doubt that a lot bought the M4 and have dead pixels but don't notice them or just think it's mouse poop on their screen.

I second this.

Was able to return my 11-inch Pro today. Now, do I try another store (~45 min one way drive) or do I try ordering online?

Well, I finally made it to another store here locally. Told them my story and picked up another 11-inch Pro. To my surprise... another dead green subpixel. This time, they were not willing to exchange it on the spot and only offered a refund. What gives here? Are my eyes just too sensitive? I was suggested to order online and get one direct from Apple. I'm 50/50 on doing that or just giving up at this point.

It sounds to me like either the tech isn’t fully mature, there’s some kind of defect on the line, or a very large set of defective shipments. I mean if you’re seeing these defects, I just think it’s going to be pretty hard to unsee them. Did you check the display 11 and 13 inch models? Did they all have the defects as well? Again, if it was me, I’d wait it out until they could give me a machine that had a fully functioning display, for that kind of coin.

I did look at the display models. The issue is, most of them have scratches on the glass and they are lit really well to hide any pixel issues.

In well lit environments, it’s really hard to spot them. At home, it’s super easy since most of us have normal, dimmer lighting.

Yeah fair. In your case, if you don’t neeeeeeed it right now, I’d wait a few months to see if others start reporting it as wide spread and see if Apple does anything to address it.

Yeah, that’s an option. I did end up ordering one online as a last resort. I’m just hoping it either has no dead pixel issues or it’s closer to a bezel. I’ll take advantage of a warranty exchange later on, sometime next year. Hopefully at that point they will sort these out.

I just would like an iPad for the time being for my travels.

To add to the saga, I did share my experience using their feedback form. I was contacted by the Apple Store I most recently visited and was told things would have been handled differently if this specific manager was present (I was basically told to keep it and deal with it or return it, rather than try an exchange). This manager was very understanding and even told me when that specific iPad was produced to see if this is a larger issue or isolated.

Let’s see if the online order has any issues (hopefully not), but if it does, I’ll go back Friday and work with him directly.

Well, it was my turn... bought on June 21.
