I think there was a post on the MacRumors site about a new cover that's compatible with the MKB, forgot the name...Quill or something like that? Has anyone tried this yet?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using coverbuddy with my ipad pro 2020, 11 inch for almost two months now.
I never take it off of the ipad ever since I installed it the first time.
My ipad never been dropped nor bumped into.

Last night it no longer connect to the magic keyboard, so I took it off and inspect the pins.
Upon inspection, the center pin fall off, I managed to put back on, but I noticed that the pin tip on the inside part is no longer protrude / sharp. I suspect some part of the tip fell / snapped off.

I contacted my local seller, but they don’t cover any type of warranty.
Should I try to contact SwitchEasy directly? I live on south east asia, wonder if they would ship directly to here.

I purchased the CoverBuddy iPad Pro 12.9” 2020 for my 2018. Fits perfectly well. When placed flat on either side, it stays completey shut. When placed vertically it does open a tad, which ends up making it easier to open than before. It sits very tight.
However the USC C hole is a bit too small for the standard Apple charging cable that has a right-angle base. This isn’t a major issue as it can be connected to the base of the Magic KeyBoard. The hub I have is slightly tapered at its base which allows it to stay connected, but with a bit of movement it does disconnect.
It seems that many off the issues have been resolved.

U can give a try.
I did a bulk order and later sell sharing transportation cost. My 2 customer have pin came off and they wanted to claim the warranty from coverbuddy. What I hear from them is they will require purchase invoice, and order number. & they successfully got their replacement.

Pad and Quill Oxford Leather case

And this one just shipped about a week ago. Big difference, a little tighter fit, and its full leather, outside and inside. Shipping later this month will be the same thing basically except it will magnetic mounting without the Magic Keyboard. So you take it out one and snap it into the other, no 3m adhesive (the MKB stays in the other case). In addition the Oxford Leather iPad Pro case is sightly oversized so it protects the edges of iPad.

Yes, I’ve heard back from them asking me for the invoice and my re-seller infos. They said I can now contact my re-seller to get a replacement.
Will try to contact my re-seller tomorrow.

So the falling off pin really is an issue. I never took the case off, wonder how that happened.

Would love to see that combo along with the magic keyboard and the coverbuddy. Do post pictures.

So finally I just got the replacement.
The SwitchEasy customer service is really good. Also my local seller.
They had me return the old failing product and send back the new one few days later.
Even tho I covered the shipping fee (both ways) almost 20% of the product cost, but better than nothing at all.

Sadly it’s still the first gen, so I still need to avoid installing thick glass screen protector.

Also in the past week I’ve getting used to the naked feel of the ipad and MKB. Looking so much sleeker and lighter too.
But any kind of protection when the ipad is off from the MKB is still required I think.

BTW I noticed a kickstart project is making a similar kind of cover, curious if theirs will be better.

Do you remember who the kickstart was with, I would love to take a look at it.

Here they are: PITAKA

I think it’ll be great for those who want back cover without the pencil guard.

Edit: I think I was mistaken, they’re not a kickstart project 😅

Oh, those of you guys with the IPP 11” + magic keyboard + coverbuddy, what kind of carrying case / sleeve / bag do you use?

The combo makes me worry not all 11” case / sleeve / bag will fit into.
I use the water field air caddy when taking the iPad out of the house because I did notice my magic keyboard case getting a little knicked up. https://www.sfbags.com/collections/ipad-pro-cases

Edited: The PITAKA iPad Pro case is now available on its website and will be available on Amazon in early November.

Got the spirals case on Thursday. Overall it is built better than the Cover Buddy, but it does not close all the way either. I like it better than the Cover Buddy, but still not perfect.

Charging Apple Pencil works fine.

Hey guys, I just received my Coverbuddy (big opening camera for the 2020 iPad Pro model) for my Ipad Pro 11 from Amazon.ca

However, it doesn't work well with the Magic Keyboard because it doesn't close perfectly with the iPad inside. There is like an half an inch gap.

I thought this was already fixed, because I'm using it with the Smart folio keyboard and it works good with it. Yes I do have both keyboards.

Did Amazon sent me an older version or does the latest version of the Coverbuddy cannot work well?

Thanks

What is the picture of the product packaging? Is it Smartfolio with Coverbuddy or Magic Keyboard with coverbuddy? The later is the newer version.

Also do you use any screen protector?

Here are the pictures of the packaging and also of the iPad inside of a Coverbuddy inside of the Magic Keyboard. Yes I do have a thin tempered glass screen protector. iPad Pro 11 with screen protector (without Coverbuddy) works fine with the Magic Keyboard. I don't think it doesn't close because of the screen protector since the Coverbuddy works perfectly fine with the Smart Folio Keyboard. I think it's because of the lip on the left side of the Coverbuddy that prevents the Magic Keyboard to close.

That looks like the newer version. I got the older version with smartfolio keyboard on the cover. I use it with thin film screen protector and it closes perfectly fine.

I remember reading somewhere that SwitchEasy only recommends to use their thin film screen protector (which is the one I’m using) On iPad that use their coverbuddy and the magic keyboard.

As per my own inspection, the lip on the side doesn’t interfere with the magic keyboard when closing, it closes on the outer part of the keyboard surface rather than on top. Also can be seen on your last picture. So I still think the tempered glass is the culprit here.
