Hi. There wasn't a September version of this thread so I guess I'll post here. I placed an order for the wifi only non-engraved space gray 11 inch iPad Pro on September 1st along with the smart folio and magic keyboard. Both cases arrived the next day however I have a shipping arrival date for the iPad Pro between September 24th and October 1st with express shipping to New Jersey. I didn't choose express shipping but I'm hoping that means it'll arrive quickly?

On a side note I'm worried that with the massive rush to get out these iPad Pro's that quality control might suffer and problem devices might fall through the cracks, such as the whole "bendgate" issue from earlier this year. With seemingly every Apple store not in stock I'm concerned if a problem arrises where an exchange is nessisary there would be massive delays in getting a new one. This is a super expensive purchase so naturally I'm nervous.

Has Apple made any official statement or comment about why there's still such a massive delay all these months? Surely it can't all be because of the school rush. I read online Apple sometimes does shipping delays before releasing a new product generation but considering this generation was just released back in March I doubt that's the reason.

I ordered Thursday 9/3. 11, 256, cellular, gray. Expected delivery 9/28-10/5. Hope it’s on the front end. I’ve got a trip 10/1. It’d be nice to have it. Should’ve thought to order a week earlier.

I’m sure most of the delays are caused by supply and manpower shortages in the manufacturing facilities exacerbated by COVID-19.

Ok. As a Veteran of this Thread, I‘ll try to help.

Ok. Starting with the iPad Pro you ordered. Apple’s shipping dates are Pretty accurate. Express Shipping has no Meaning. It will still arrive in their Given dates. Expect it to move to “Preparing to Ship” about a Week before your Earliest Expected Delivery date.

Next, the Quality Control. As far as I know, Everyone in this Thread has gotten Flawless iPad Pros, including me.
Yes, the iPad is easy to bend as it’s so thin. As long as you keep it in the Magic Keyboard (It’s really good for Bend Protection), it shouldn’t bend. In the Smart Folio, it could bend. My iPad hasn’t bent in it’s Magic Keyboard. 90% of the time when the iPad is bent out of the Box, it’s on the LTE Models. The Aluminum Cooling process when they Mill the Antenna Lines contracts the Metal causing it to Bend Slightly. So, you should be fine.

Lastly, the Shipping Delays. As far as I know, it’s a Product that is REALLY in Demand. So that’s why there are Shipping Delays. Here is a Short Timeline for my iPad:

Ordered: July 6 2020

Estimated Delivery: August 5-12

Spec: iPP 11” 256GB Space Gray Engraved WiFi only

Processing: July 6-30

Preparing to Ship: July 30

Shipped: July 31

Delivered: August 7

Wait times have gotten better in the Recent Weeks. Hopefully you don’t have to wait as Long as I did!

If you have any Questions, Ask Away! This may not be named as a Thread for September, but that’s simply because the Owner of the Thread @iThink Apple forgot to change the name. The thread has been around since Early July!

Happy iPad Tracking! We have some “Official“ Merch made by @Namara

So exactly one month from ordering, my iPad Pro 128GB Space Gray was finally delivered. That wait was ridiculous for an iPad. 2020 is off the chain and really not looking forward to the iPhone wait, it’s for sure going to even worse. But yay for me finally getting my iPad! :D Also, for those wondering I got it one day before the estimated delivery from Apple, so not all hope is lost for you!

What case are you using with your Magic Keyboard?
I have a cover buddy for my 11 inch iPP 2018. I only ordered a Sleep/wake case cover for the 2020 12.9 From amazon (ESR) . I ordered DBrand skin for the iPP 12.9 to protect the sides and back from scratches (camo). I like the cover buddy but it doesn’t cover the bottom of the iPad. Only the sides and top.

I think the reason it doesn’t cover the Bottom is because when It’s in the Case, it’s not gonna be Exposed because of the Magic Keyboard’s Hinge. Also, the Bottom needs to be bare so that it can clip into the Smart Keyboard Folio.

Yes. I had a dbrand skin on my 11 inch. I took it off for the cover buddy. Now I see dbrand has a skin that covers the sides. I’m going with that option this time.

I just took off my Coverbuddy Case. You know, the Case I use to protect my iPad Magic Keyboard Case. The iPad is much Slimmer, and I can connect USB-C hubs now!

I don’t feel as safe taking it around, though. And the dent that the Case Covered is now Visible. I can’t stop looking at it :/

Anyways, I’ll see if the Coverbuddy case is Really Necessary. I don’t feel very good about keeping it on Tabletops without the Case, however a Skin would solve that. I don’t really see myself applying the Skin Properly, I can barely apply a Screen protector lol.

I think just resting the iPad directly on top of the MK will solve any issues.

I loved the Camo Dbrand skin I had on my 11 inch. The smart connector wouldn't make a good connection when I used the cover buddy and the Magic Smart keyboard. So I took it off and chose to use the cover buddy. I'm going with Dbrand this time again. The Camo looked great.

Speaking of skins, I ordered the White Marble frame skin for my 11”. Part of the reason for it is to cover up the tiniest of imperfections on my iPad out of the box by the SIM slot (see photo), which looks like a tiny but somewhat annoying chip on the silver aluminum under certain lighting conditions. The skin will fully cover the SIM slot but I don’t ever plan on getting a physical SIM card for my iPad anyways - I’ll likely just use the eSIM when I need Cellular data. 😉

I didn’t get a back skin since my iPad is engraved, but I treat my devices very carefully, so I’m sure I’ll be able to minimize any wear and tear on the back that might appear over time.
