Finally got a FedEx tracking number for my iPad Pro, it's arriving tomorrow. Not terrible (~1 month, already have an iPad I'm trading in so it's fine)

There's speculation as to if the iPhones are also arriving tomorrow; traditionally they would be held till Friday but who knows with COVID this year.

When has covid even made anything happen faster? Or made for anything good at all?

Yeah. It’s smooth. Get another skin which has some more texture. Black Swarm and Black Carbon Fiber are my favorites.
I’m liking this Slickwraps skin. It’s not nearly as slippery as the dBrand was. Actually kind of grippy imo. Like I said though, it took awhile to receive it, but so far, it was worth the wait. ?

New to this thread; question for the long timers:

How many times did you need to refresh your order page for it to update from ‘Processing’ to ‘Preparing to ship’?
Thousands, lol. Most of us waited more than 30 days to receive ours. If it’s coming from China, ours took about a week from ship to receipt. If you look at the bottom of @DiamondarBoss signature, you’ll see that he hates the word “Processing”. ?

Only three days into my iPhone 12 order and it’s already beginning to feel like the wait for the iPad Pro all over again! Might end up refreshing the order page just as much as I did for my iPad order before it finally sees some movement. ?

Notice how I have @DiamondarBoss favourite word highlighted and circled, which I have the honour of staring at for another week or so. ?

:D I ordered in the 1st. Had the engraved pencil delivered on the 2nd and my expected delivery date for the iPad was 23rd-30th October then I got an update email a few days later saying the delivery date was now 20th-27th Oct. I was all fine with the waiting... then I see people are getting new iPad Airs delivered and my eye started to twitch!

The logic is that, because of increased shipping volumes (people staying home and ordering stuff online more) UPS isn't going to sit there with a warehouse full of phones just because Apple said "we want them delivered on Friday."

It's a moot point nonetheless because UPS has updated everyone to Friday delivery anyway, but I could see how that logic tracked.

For one thing, it doesn't work like that. If Apple says "don't deliver until this date", UPS doesn't just get to say, "nah, that doesn't work for us. We're just going to go ahead and do what we want". Not if they don't want to lose the business of a client that sends MILLIONS of packages through them every year!

Secondly, if they have a backlog of packages because of increased volume, that makes it more likely that packages will be delivered late, not early. That's generally how a backlog works.

My mistake. I wasn’t counting on getting my phone early, it was just a thought.

Go ahead and tally one up on the “Internet Arguments I’ve won” board, you’ve earned it.

I didn't intend to argue with you. I just didn't want you to have unrealistic expectations. I'd be happy to be wrong so you can get your phone sooner. Either way, I hope you enjoy it when it arrives!

UPS and FedEx both do “warehouse” the iPhones until the launch date. I work for FedEx and over the years have had to deal with the AT&T portion of iPhone launches. Typically, we start to pick up trailer loads of the iPhones about a week before the launch date. The iPhones stay in secured trailers until they are sent through the sort system starting 1 to 2 days before launch. The launch date is considered a “hard” date and FedEx must abide by it per it’s contract with Apple. On occasion, a few new iPhones will slip into the system before it’s official release date.

So, are there new iPad Pro models coming out in few weeks? I'm asking since all the local retailers are having very thin stocks here in Finland all models being mostly out of stock. Also official Apple online store shipping times are 2-3 weeks. Sounds like refresh (A14?) is imminent?

Oh god please no haha! You're new here I suppose ? . iPad Pro stocks has always been very low since probably beginning of this summer. With people working at home and online schools etc people inclined to buy iPads more than ever. Most of us here waited around 1 month to get our iPads. I, personally, don't think the new Pros are coming this year. At least not until 1st quarter of 2021. Yeap I know there've been rumors about it and eventually it will get A14Z or X but also that rumors say it'll come with new display etc. Long story short, low stocks are probably due to high demand. But 2020 is a strange year in every aspect so Apple may come with a new Pro in the November event. (Fingers crossed please don't let this happen we just bought it?)
