Gurman is still saying these 2024 iPad Pros will have a design refresh. I’m not sure how ‘revolutionary’ they can go with a 13” slab of glass.
Id assume they will round the rear edges like the new 15 Pro's will be. I personally would welcome that, as my 12.9 iPad pro is not the most comfortable device to hold with the square edges.

I rather have a Vision Pro than another iPad. I sometimes go weeks without using my iPad. I use my MBP and iPhone and iMac all the time.
You’ll go weeks without using the Vision Pro I bet as well. Any device outside of a phone and ‘real’ computer will suffer the same fate. Will people really put on a headset to check one email? No.
It’s about convenience and the Vision Pro is arguably the most inconvenient product Apple makes.

So good news! I was craving for an oled ipad long time ago. I didn’t want to buy the biggest device for just its newer screen so I’ll hold onto my 2020 baby till oled arrives 💟

2024 seems reasonable. I'm there for it, as my 2017 10.5" iPad Pro is due for an update. My kid has been wanting an update to the 10 year-old iPad Air 2 too, so that works out. I can pass down my iPad Pro as its performance is still quite decent, as is its 4 GB RAM. It will make a fine replacement for an iPad Air 2 or a kid.

If it gets a new screen tech, it will also likely mean that current accessories will no longer be compatible with it, even if the design is very similar. This alone is reason enough for me to wait until the next generation. But of course, the main reason I want to wait is to get the beautiful blacks of OLED.

I thought the drawback of OLED is brightness. Micro LED gets quite brighter than other larger OLEDs iirc

Modern OLEDs can be extremely bright. Their big drawback is how prone to burn-in they are.

Static, bright elements can permanently damage OLEDs relatively quickly, which is especially a problem if used intensively with traditional "bright" GUI interfaces which are full of these elements.

I hope landscape is the primary setup, with the camera on the long edge.

Not sure how true this is. In the TV realm, LCD reaches much higher brightness than OLED. While current OLED iPhones have higher max brightness than current iPads, that’s not because LCD weren’t capable of higher brightness.
TV OLED vs TV LCD is a different scenario since they effectively can have unlimited power. However, in phones, battery life is a big concern. Assuming a mostly dark display, OLEDs will use significantly less power at the same brightness as compared to LCD. (OTOH, for white backgrounds, OLEDs will use more power than LCDs.)

It’ll be a 13” circle, so no need to switch between portrait and landscape anymore. The new pencil will have an arc shape accordingly. The front camera will be at the center, as it should be, and expand into a dynamic island. You’ll get the obvious watch faces for standby mode. And an appropriately sized MagSafe charger. You’ll also be able to use this new iDisc as a frisbee. Can’t innovate my ass.

Totally agreed. I really miss the rounded off back edges of my old pre-2018 iPad Pros.

I’d be happy if the physical design didn’t change at all —saves me from rebuying the expensive accessories —but I’d love if that thinner screen meant a stronger body or better battery for the 11”.

IMHO, the design for the 11” is about perfect. Camera placement is a legit gripe but I think the solution is to double up the front facing cameras not just move it. So there are cameras on a short and long side and no matter the orientation you can unlock and/or video chat in a fluid way.

Why OLED is better than Microled for IPads and microled is better for watch than OLED?????. I thought microled was the sweet spot for iPads.

I prefer the square sides but I think the chamfered corners of the iPhone 5 would be cool. I also think it depends on the size. When I briefly had a 12.9” it didn’t feel as comfortable.

It’ll need to be flat enough to hold the pencil for charging. I also prefer the rounded edges on iPads (I’m writing this on an iPad mini 5), but there’s a design conflict with pencil charging.

It’s better, for the most part. Mini-LED was an interim solution they could bring to market quicker in the required quantities.
Was Mini-LED an interim solution for the MacBook Pros and Pro Display XDR, as well?
