While I realize they could get it to Austin today, I've never had a package delivered that wasn't on the local truck for delivery by 8AM.

Same. Ive never had a package delivered that wasn't "out for delivery" by 8am. I'm not stressing out or anything... it will get here when it gets here. I'm just wanting to see if UPS has been blowing smoke up my azz this whole time. ;)

Wet behind the ears

The Easter bunny with his basket full of iPads may get a little wet soon. There's thunderstorms racing towards Louisville now. ~Over & out~

well, the reason I think that I can get both today is that usually UPS/Fedex just drops the package in front of my door when they miss me many times.

I am even thinking about going jogging around the neighborhood before they deliver. so I can have all day playing with the ipad.

They cannot do that. The package requires a signature. Unless you pre-signed.

From UPS TwitterL http://twitter.com/MikeAtUPS

UPS developed special ops plan to coordinate delivery of iPads on a single day. And so, Tracking is not showing all movements.

Most importantly, if you haven't gotten notice that you're scheduled for Monday due to lack of Sat. service, you're good for tomorrow!

I haven't received a notice but after speaking to UPS and Apple extensively yesterday, they told me I wouldn't get it until Monday. I requested a reroute to a UPS Store in an area that has Sat delivery but Steve says "No".

Just got off the phone with UPS and they tell me that Apple has sent out notifications to all iPad customers informing them of when they'll receive their iPads - today (4/3) or Monday (4/5). Has anyone received specific confirmation on this? All I have are the order update emails about the order shipping - that's it.

I live near Detroit and am available for Saturday delivery, but UPS says that Apple has specifically contracted with them to follow their delivery instructions. If Apple says to deliver today, then they will; if Apple say Monday, that's when you'll get it.

Not sure who to believe here - I do not have anything from Apple stating this fact, so it sounds a bit like b.s.

Apple sent emails to those of us getting Monday deliveries. If you didn't get the Magical Monday email from Apple, then it is delivering today.

Me either, but I'm not as zen about this. If I don't get my iPad because it sat in some Kentucky sorting facility for nearly 15 hours I'll be mighty upset. I had it delivered to my parents address because thats where I was going to be because I need it for my work (I develop iPhone/iPod and now iPad apps). Well at least that's the reason I tell myself, obviously I just really want my shiny new toy. But anyway so if it doesn't come today, I'll need to make my parents jump through hoops to get it next week, and then ship it down to me.

I would be happy to take a pic of the IPad in the mirror but..... Steve forgot to put in a camera. :apple:

According to your sig:
"2 - 27" IMacs, 15" Mac Book Pro, 15: Mac Book, 2 - Mac Mini's, Apple TV, Iphone, 32Gig Ipad, Every Ipod ever produced, Airport"

That means you have plenty of cameras to prove you have your iPad. I call BS.

Keeping on-topic: It appears my iPad will get here today. Bouncing between Chantilly and Dulles, VA. I'm only 30 minutes away.

Random thought: did each iPad get a destination sticker before it left China, or did they ship bulk pallets to the US, and then stick the destination stickers on from there? It wouldn't be difficult to spoof the tracking number to point to a 'bulk shipment' tracking code.

Omg it's in your burrough! I think you need to stop worrying - it'll be there today!

Actually, I live in Westchester but whenever UPS delivers that is always the last stop b4 it is out for delivery. Thanks for the reply though really needed reassuring, never called Apple or UPS did not want to add to the insanity of calls they have been experiencing. :D

:( I trust in TechDude..... but I've never had a UPS package jump from two states away to a local office and out from delivery to being delivered all in one morning.

I am starting to lose faith that I'll get it today. I have saturday delivery here. I was one of the first to ship from China. I've been sitting in Kentucky since Tuesday.

This kind of stuff always happens to me.

Not to worry. Same thing happened to me with my MacBook Air. You'll get it today!:D

The "I got it" guy did post a pick on the "Delivered" thread.

He is located outside of Buffalo, so pretty rural. Good news for those in Suburbia.

So does UPS have staggering truck departures from the local distribution? If so, how late would the last truck out for the day leave?

Birmingham AL / Helena AL

Hi msduncan,

I'm in Helena also (I said Birmingham earlier - don't know how many people know where Helena AL is).

Mine still shows Louisville. I did find on FlightAware that a UPS plane landed in Birmingham this morning (around 5am).

Hopefully just the tracking updates are delayed, not the physical movement.

I haven't received any emails from Apple or UPS like others are reporting.

If you're still showing as being in Louisville, Google "package tracking" and check a few of the sites. Each seems to have a slightly different set of scans, but I did find several showing mine to be in my local city. UPS.com doesn't seem to be updated, but several show the same timestamp in my city, so I'd assume they're not making it up.

My iPad is literally less than 15 minutes away from me! Just waiting for the "Out for Delivery" confirmation:

Brooklyn guys, I just got a departure scan at 8:25AM from Jamaica. Check yours.

In general I think they only do in larger cities. But ThomasAtUPS and MikeAtUPS on twitter have said that UPS is running special operations to get these out today, and that unless you've been told you're getting it monday, you'll get it today.

So I'm hopeful that these will trickle into the local facilities throughout the morning and get on trucks out for deliveries.

Maybe that shipment didn't get scanned properly or there is a glitch with their system at the B'ham office? Your post gives me hope as well! Hang in there and listen out for the drone of the UPS truck! :)

Just to let you know - my tracking status also showed no update. My flight from KY to FL got in at 5:43. There was a "destination scan" at my local hub at 6:40. The UPS page just now showed that entry. I think the status page is (still) running behind for some people.

No.. no... it happens to me as well.

I ordered 10 mins into the first day you could and mine is still in KY.

I just noticed that Packagetrackr.com isn't completely up-to-date, so you might want to try several sources. On PT, mine is still in KY. But on UPS.com it shows it is here in town heading towards the sort facility.
