It's literally not a waste to just watch videos on M4.Doesn't contradict my statement.
- M4 has AV1 hardware decoding which literally benefits the "watching videos" use case.
- M4 is great
What is a waste is M4 power for iPad just for
watching videos.
I wonder how much you really use a IPad if you think in 2025 all you can do is watch videos on a M4 iPad Pro, there’s tons of Apps that leverage that power. What is a waste is M4 power for iPad just for watching videos.
Hmm mkv, torrenting movies I guess?😏It looks cool but fundamentally it doesn’t matter what they do with it unless they make it extendable. Oh sorry, someone sent me a RAR, guess I can’t open it. Oh you sent a mkv, I can’t that sorry.
It’s nice for a bit more control, but in the end, it’s still going to fall short. Something this new Apple seems quite good at doing. Cool F1 roof race bruh.
It is like an evolution of double-app mode that first was introduced back in the iOS 8 I guess. I don’t really view it as something serious but still fun to have, maybe it will finally allow to use youtube in background while using other apps since this is what is possible on Mac😃highly doubt you will benefit with 6 windows with tiny red/yellow/green buttons due to the "short-sightness"
Isn't that how Windows works though? This is ridiculous! There should be a way to safely eject external drives. Spare me the, it’s ok to just yank the drive, nonsense.
I don’t mind if we’re allowed to just yank the drive, but if so then there needs to be at the very least an indicator of whether the drive is still in use or not. This is ridiculous! There should be a way to safely eject external drives. Spare me the, it’s ok to just yank the drive, nonsense.
What do you mean by that? I have MKVs that open in VLC, and RARs that open in iZIP. When you have an app that registers for the respective file types, you can open any matching file from Files. It looks cool but fundamentally it doesn’t matter what they do with it unless they make it extendable. Oh sorry, someone sent me a RAR, guess I can’t open it. Oh you sent a mkv, I can’t that sorry.
Because most iOS users aren’t Mac users, and on an OS where app data typically is not located in the part of the filesystem accessible via the Files app, “Finder” would not be an intuitive name. Without context, “Finder” would imply something like Spotlight Search. If anything, it would make more sense to rename Finder to Files. Why don’t they call it Finder anyway? I mean tabs would also really help in iPadOS compared to macOS.
no no no no, and I can't stress this enough, no!At this point, they need to just put macOS on the iPad…
Does Goodnotes not show on the share sheet? Then it's only two taps. If not, why not?A step in the right direction. I love the iPad for taking notes and opening PDFs while walking around (can't do that with a Mac).
But what sucks is when say you get a PDF by email, and want to open it in an app like GoodNotes:
On a Mac, you just drag and drop the attachment to the app. That's it. One step instead of SIX. Why can't you do that on an iPad?
- Open the attachment
- Tap the Share button and choose "Save to Files"
- Browse to whatever folder you want to save it to
- Open GoodNotes
- Browse again to the folder you saved the file to, hopefully you remember where that was
- Open it
I have never had that happen with any of the Macs I've used. Not saying it's impossible though. I want nothing to do with spotlight and never use it, so that may be why it doesn't happen for me. But, no, that's definitely not what I mean. You mean like on MacOS where I plug a USB stick in, drop two files on it and before I can eject it, Spotlight's indexer grabs the drive and from that moment on, Finder refuses point blank to eject it.. Is that what you mean?
Hey, you do you, but OSX is different from 90's MacOS and still currently more useful for technical things compared to the "more modern" iPadOS.no no no no, and I can't stress this enough, no!
I use the iPad because it's NOT a Mac. I don't want a 1990s OS that's been dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century on my iPad which has a much more modern OS already.
Happens literally every time I use a USB stick. Plug in, drop a couple of files on, try to eject and you get an error about something could be using your device. I suspect it's because the files are videos from my action cam which are massive and they somehow choke Spotlight, in any case if I want to remove the stick I either have to force eject or shut my machine downI have never had that happen with any of the Macs I've used. Not saying it's impossible though. I want nothing to do with spotlight and never use it, so that may be why it doesn't happen for me. But, no, that's definitely not what I mean.
No, there is a tool to safely remove devices on Windows.Isn't that how Windows works though?
MacOS is still essentially what we got in 1998 but with a slightly modernised UI, but underneath those it's more or less the same 1990s OS. It's not designed for touch, it doesn't play nice with mobile data connections, it's chrome takes up way too much of the screen for a small device like an 11" iPad. Just an all round bad ideaHey, you do you, but OSX is different from 90's MacOS and still currently more useful for technical things compared to the "more modern" iPadOS.
I just used a windoze box recently and didn't see that. Where is it?No, there is a tool to safely remove devices on Windows.
It was comical to me the demo showed an iPad with a keyboard and stand lol. So basically a laptop 🤦♂️. It’s apparent that they are turning 1 device into 5. Soon they are gonna pitch a smaller watch that can sit on your other wrist. The Apple Bracelet! Starting at just $599 🙄At this point, they need to just put macOS on the iPad…
