Hey, can anyone tell me if Midnight is actually black?
I have 12 Mini in white color but it has some creamy white tint according distance/light condition/angle
Starlight color which seems to be a pure white unlike the iPhone 12/Mini?
Thanks
In theory it’s just the darkest shade of blue, and in some videos one can appreciate that subtlety. However, I’ve been on the Apple Store few hours ago, and it’s just black (for my eyes).

And I don’t want another black iPhone so... I’m between Product(RED), blue, and starlight (which, again, to my eyes is just silver and white).

I’ve had the three colors on my hand, I like the back of the red (it’s gorgeous) and the overall shade of the blue, but the starlight is so pretty even from the front view (i love those bezels in aluminum color), so probably I’ll end up buying that one.

But still, I’m undecided lol

Last year, i was torn between white and black
Apparently 12 Mini black has some very navy blue tint, its not plain black
I ve picked eventually white but it was creamy white from certain angle/light conditions
For example, in day light, it looks white, in night/dark environment, it looks more creamy lol
Also edges are more gold/champagne than usual silver
I wish black is black and white is white lol

It’s not, it’s a very dark blue and it depends on the lighting, I tried to take a picture of mine right now but it’s a dark, rainy and cloudy day and none of the lights in my house are doing justice, yesterday when I opened it and looked at it in a sunny room, it looked very blue.

Start at the 1:20 minute mark of this video, I watched so many videos to try to see the colour before it released and this was the one that showed off the true colour under a bright natural light the best now that I’ve seen it in person.
I’m disappointed to be honest, because on the website and everything apple showed off didn’t look even remotely blue, even if you hex colorcode the phone on their website, it shows no hint of blue. I kind of wish I went with the white, but oh well.

I need to see what the Product Red looks like this year. Last years almost looked like a salmon color, if it’s deep red like on the 8 then I’ll buy it.
The red is a beautiful red not at all salmon, love it! I'm really happy with it and got a clear case so the color shows through!

woah it’s VERY similar in this video to the iPhone 12 mini blue. Yup Midnight for me.

5C, great idea on paper, awful execution. My dad had one. Looked and felt like something from a Circle K gas station.
Well, I liked the 5C. I didn’t have one because I prefered to go with the power and the industrial look of a 5S, but I considered a 5C in that day. The white one, the green one, or the blue one were gorgeous (for me, in that moment). And the coral was a nice color, just not for me. And to complete the collection, we had the yellow.

Today I’d find those colors pretty hideous for a smartphone, but nine years ago they were fresh for a piece of technology like an smartphone. Specially the white and the green one, my favorites. And their shape was super confortable. It was really pleasant to hold that unapologetically plastic design in your hand.

Like it or not, the legacy of the iPhone 5C is there. A cheaper, base lineup of smartphones with a colorful design. It came back with the iPhone XR, and this time, it worked. Same with the iPhone 11 and again with the 12. They did change the approach to that concept tho: Due the lackluster sales of the 5C they abandoned the idea of an unapologetically plastic design, and went with aluminum and glass. Also they gave it the latest SoC instead of a year old one. But the concept is still there: Colors and an “affordable” price.

I love the red one this year! That's what i wanted last years red to be like. Ended up with black because of that.

So if i decice to upgrade i would either take the Red one or Midnight. (Midnight, because then people can't tell as easily that i bought a new phone again already :p )

Yeah, I can feel you. I’m leaning towards the white one, and that’s the only thing that pushes me away. The two cameras will be very visible and people will instantly know I purchased a 13, not a cheap 12. Many won’t know I am still using an iPhone 8, and may think I spend lots of money on unnecessary tech.

The red one is gorgeous as well, but I don’t quite like the aluminum frame in that color, so i’ll probably end up getting a starlight. Am I the only one here?

If the midnight wasn’t almost black, but rather a little more indigo blue, I’d consider purchasing it as well. But as I said previously, I am tired of black smartphones.

Starlight isnt pure white?
Some claim its warmer/creamy white than last year
Also edges are more between gold and silver
I dont understand its exactly same kind of impressions last year for the white version of iPhone 13/Mini
I currently own 12 Mini in white color, its more creamy than any others white iPhone, and those edges are also between silver and gold
I wish a pure white tint, last year i was kinda disappointed
Midnight isnt for me since its not plain black :/

13 Starlight is whiter (less "dirty") than 12 white, but still a warmer white, not a pure/cold white.

Yep, the starlight phones are definitely more white than the 12 is. Sides are silver with a mix of gold flake in the paint, very subtle but equally very nice.

Are they more silver than last year?
Or its same for the edges/sides?
I had SE in white/silver right before 12 Mini White, and indeed, 12 Mini sides were a sort of mix of gold and silver (its more silver tho)

My impression from the comparison pictures I've seen is that the 13 Starlight aluminum band is slightly warmer/darker/champagne than on the 12 white (which already was a slightly warm/golden silver). For fans of pure white and neutral silver, the 13 is a slight improvment regarding the white back, but a setback for the aluminum band.

I went for the 13 mini in Starlght. Here is a picture that shows the contrast between the aluminum band and the back color with the “pure white” airPod case as a reference. The phone back is not pure white but looks white to me in most lighting…unless you see it next to something that is “pure“ white…like the AirPods case. The aluminum band is more of a light champagne color to my eye. The colors are very subtle. I put it in an Apple clear case and am really liking the phone.

Starlight is like white with champagne aluminium sides.

Under some lighting, Pink looks like it has a champagne back with gold sides. Sometimes, the back looks 70% pale pink, and 30% purple, while the edge looks more purple than pink.

Hmmmm, I don’t know. Colour is hard to define

I have the Pink and am loving it.
Haven’t taken any well-staged photos yet, but here are a few:

Midnight because the colored edges bother me.
But then the bezel looks thick. 👀

I went with midnight for practical reasons. I don’t like using a case and I found that on the 12 series the black aluminum was the “grippiest” of all the colors for some reason. On the other hand the silver/white color was the most slippery (I had used a white 12 mini for most of the year before trying a black 12 mini in the weeks leading up to the 13 release). The same seems to hold up for the 13. When I tried them all in store, starlight and pink were the most slippery, followed by red, then blue and midnight. I almost switched my order to blue since it was so gorgeous and felt almost as grippy. But I ended up sticking with midnight and have been enjoying it.

I think I must be nuts because I’ve never seen anyone else mention this at all.

I voted Starlight but ended up with pink, it’s nice very understated and I love the colour of the band.

Interesting, never heard that before. Is it a huge difference? Want the starlight caseless but might go midnight then since the starlight mini is hard to find in stock anyway.
