A legitimate reason for a small minority of users? Give your head a shake. Again, we're talking about iPhone, not the Apple watch. There are far more people who have iPhone than Apple watch. Look at what you're doing. Exactly what I said Apple fans do. Down play it because it's a feature they don't have. This is a wish list thread and you're in here making excuses and suggesting this feature is not needed because of Apple watch. What a joke.
Yes, for a minority of users, but maybe noticeable (ie. there may be noticeably less downplaying of this feature if there weren’t as many Apple Watch users). I’m sure there are a lot of Apple downplayers for this feature and in general. You seem to think I’m trying to contradict you on that, but all I was offering was a little more possible insight to this particular instance that makes it slightly different from others. But maybe I should keep it to myself.

edit- I think it would be a great feature by the way.

Apple fans down play it because they don't have it but once they get it it'll be praised. Whether it's useful for Apple watch users or not is irrelevant. We're talking about iPhone.

How is it irrelevant? What possible benefit would an AOD give us Apple Watch users? For everyone else, I do of course see the benefit, just not for us Watch users.

Touch ID in the power button would be an asset in times where masks are being worn which defeats the function of FaceID
Nobody is saying eliminate Face ID
Just think of how many times your iPhone has layed flat on your desk and you couldn’t use it without fully picking it up. With Touch ID you wouldn’t have to pick it up

Now that the iPhone 12 is here and you've had a chance to see its feature set, what would you [realistically] like to see in the iPhone 13?
iPhone 13 Pro Max Deal Breakers.
#1. Matter Black DLC coated.
#2. USB-C Thunderbolt 3-4 rated
#3. 120hz ProMotion display
#4. 6.9” AMOLED Display
#5. 8GB LPDDR5 RAM (My Note 20 Ultra 5G has 12GB of it already)
#6. Smaller face ID and Touch ID power button
#7. Qualcomm 5G 10Gbps Quad Antenna radio stack
#8. Audio Codec support LDAC and aptX HD
#9. WiFi 6e
#10. Bluetooth 5.2

Currently have 8 plus, (used xs max for 1 year and went back to 8 plus)
My dealbreakers for not buying new iphone
-> The NOTCH ( even punch hole at the corner is fine but not the NOTCH)
-> no Touch ID ( Hopefully we will see in screen touch id or power button touch id)

That never happens because Face ID remembers the angles of your face. You don’t have to ‘pick it up’ every time you want to unlock it. Seems to me you’ve never actually used Face ID. I’ve never had to actually pick up my phone in order to unlock it with Face ID, and frankly I find the argument rather ridiculous. Touch ID on the other hand is a fickle b!atch which I’m glad Apple replaced by the much superior Face ID.

Looks like you won’t be buying an iPhone this year.

I may or may not buy one. Features mean nothing to me really and I will get a new phone when I need one or feel the need for a change. I imagine my X which I’ve had for two years will last another two if I want it to.

I have the Touch ID on power on my iPad Air and depending upon how you are holding horizontal or vertical it is a reach around to get to it - seems much quicker than on button but not perfect either.

Touch ID under screen is the best option I would say. on power button I find it to be annoying when lying flat. granted not as bad as Face ID for that but under screen makes the most sense

Apple has to come up with something to make me update. 120hz , matte black color, or small camera improvement not enough. Now kick in underscreen touch ID or Power Button Face ID and we're talking

Maybe for my wife. But not for me. The 12 PM is good enough for me and i have a son so yeah. Priorities.

Hi, Samsung S21 Ultra user here. I have a house full of iPhone 11 and 12 users.

What I wish for on my device is a more secure Face ID system... although I am not sure if a notch would make it worth it.

By the way, my old Note 9 had a finger print sensor on the back, which was so much better than the in screen sensors... I miss that too.

Would also love me some FaceTime with kids rather than make them use Duo or Zoom.

Loving 120 adaptive in QHD and 16Gb of RAM...and every panel has useful widgets I couldn’t live without. This is not an android vs Apple post... just adding a little “what the other guys wish for that Apple has”.

R
Agree with most everything you said. You don't need 16gb of ram on an iOS device. Just not needed. It's so efficient. The only system more efficient than iOS was windows mobile. that ran on no ram!

Utter load of nonsense, Face ID does not work when the phone is laying down on a table and you are not looking directly at it. If you lean over it, it will work but you have to move.

It sounds like you've never used Face ID.

Lol. As long as your eyes are open, you can unlock the phone from many angles. Obviously you have to look at it, duh.

To be a very minor update (similar to the iPad Pros 2020 update following the 2018 ones) – so my iPhone 12 Pro Max feels top notch for at least another year. 😅

13 mini wishlist that won't happen:
  • longer battery life (make the phone thicker if needed)
  • faster refresh screen
  • touchid in addition to faceid

As an android user waiting to switch to Iphone 13 for the first time (Samsung Note) all I care about is being able to multitask like I do in my samsung phone. Split screen between w.e apps I need. Just make it as close as having a macbook in your hand.

Why? The iPad mini is already 7.9 and the Pro Max already comes close to it in weight. A bigger Pro Max would darn near be the same size as the iPad mini. Just put calling features on the iPad mini and let giant phone lovers have at it.

But wouldn’t they have to make the mini cellular super expensive then by giving it all the specs that these flagship phones have?
