So I think this year is an easy pass to anyone who has an iPhone XS/XR or newer because ngl I believe that next year the whole lineup will have ProMotion and better batteries… I think this year for Apple was a mehh and next year will be the ground-breaking announcement. Even the iPad mini (which I was really excited for btw) was a mehh considering the high price. I would much rather buy a regular maxed out iPad than the mini rn (only for the price)

The other day we were doin some research and we find out that the iPhone 12 mini has a bigger battery than the SE 2nd gen and I was really shocked…

tell me you thoughts below!
Thoughts from me, I’m looking at my iPhone X on my desk and thinking “I’m never gonna hold you again”.
And I’m glad cause it ain’t **** on my 13PM.
Just the battery alone makes it worth it for me. One thing people aren’t raving about enough - the speakers!! They’re definitely the best on a phone that I’ve heard.

My upgrades cost me $250-$300

no contracts, no 24 month credits.

I sell the previous model for $800-$850

get the new model for $1100.

I get to experience a new iPhone every year, and to me its worth the investment since I use the phone every day, no need to expect a ground breaking device and no need to complicate things, $300/365 days is under $1 day lol

That's cool - is that an Apple programme?

For me, any iPhone that comes out within 3-4 years of my last iPhone purhcase is not worth the upgrade. The iPhone 13 doesn't do anything much better than my XS Max that warrants a $1300 upgrade.

Well its all about decisions decisions. Right now Apple gives $790 for 12PM, so that makes upgrade to 13PM equal to +$300-$400. Well you could wait another year with 12PM, but then there is a guarantee that your market price and trade in value will take a hit... maybe by the same $300 amount. In the end you will upgrade to 14PM by spending the same amount like if you bought 12PM-13PM-14PM by using the trade-in. So in the end you spend the same $, but in one option you use every model and in the second scenario you upgrade only once? Seems like a no brainer.
Exactly. I took advantage of the $790 trade in and am happy with the $300 out of pocket cost for my 13PM. Definitely worth it to me. Will do the same thing next year assuming Apple offers similar nice trade in value.

It depends on what you want from your purchase.

If you're a 12 owner, the only gain going to the 13 is battery life, and promotion if you go for the 13 Pro. Some people may not think that warrants an upgrade, others do.

If you're an 11 Pro owner going to a 13 Pro, you are gaining new design and promotion, and slightly better camera. Again, not really a big upgrade for some.

For Xs users, it's a big upgrade, especially in battery life and camera. For XR/11/older owners, going to the 13 is an even bigger upgrade as it gives OLED higher res screen, much better camera, new design, ultrawide for XR and older users, etc.

Every iPhone releases are never targeted towards the previous gen owners. Apple knows that people are keeping their phones longer and longer. So they are targeting 2, 3 generations, or even older iPhone users. Considering Apple is still supporting the 6s, it shows that Apple knows there are still many people using those older phones.

Imo the 13 by itself is a good release, ignoring the bugs from iOS15. Battery life is stellar, and it gives the 13 mini a more reasonable battery life. If I were in the market of a new iPhone, the 13 mini will definitely be on my list. The iPhone 13 is a much better well rounded product than the 12 (reduced battery, 5G hype).
That's me with a 6s who is struggling to change but doesn't need all the hype with the camera things and maybe doesn't need the old screen also. What would be my choice: I want a modern 6s cause it fits my needs but the horrible incredible devastating stupid little battery life since upgrading to 14.8. Doesn't even last all morning. Need a Mophie case. But it has want I need: I place a lot of calls, email, Safari. Difficult to accept the new concept an iPhone is a camera with the possibility to make a call. I'm a more than enthusiastic photographer with DSLR and high end lens. What iPhone is the best for me?

You know what, you don't have to upgrade each year. I own an iPhone X, which still works fine. Not upgrading every single year is less expensive, updates are more significant, and are more thrilling. Hard- and software updates are becoming less whooping, not upgrading does not mean you miss out.

I had a play with the 13 Pro and Pro Max in the Apple store in Bond Street yesterday, and Pro motion is very nice and fluid. Apple may have taken their time to implement it, but they done it right as usual. Graphite colour is stunning. The normal 13’s are mainly the battery upgrades and sensor shift camera lens, which may be considered boring, but solid updates. The midnight colour is really nice also.
Agree, don't know what's turning me on more, ProMotion or this crazy battery life. ???

I have to admit, the 13 Pro is seriously enticing me after handling it and seeing the Pro motion in action. Its heavy for sure though. If i trade in my 12 Mini, Apple will give me £300 so then I can get the 13 Pro for £650 which is a lot more palatable. The UK price for the Pro models dropped by £50 which is a welcome bonus, as UK apple customers usually get fleeced. I just wish Apple kept the 5.8” screen size on the normal Pro model, that would have made My decision so much easier.

Honestly, you’ll get use to the size and weight in a couple of days, pull the trigger on that 120hz pro beast!

Then you can look forward to any iPhones that Apple is selling for the huge jump in battery life. The 11 should be a great upgrade if you don't mind the size. Or go for the 13 mini if you prefer smaller size. :)

Coming from the regular iPhone 11, the 13 is definitely not overrated.

Battery life alone makes this phone a hell of a lot better. With the iPhone 11, I would usually plug it in at work around noon as it would be below 50% in battery life. Day 1 w/ my iphone 13, battery life is currently at 29% and that's surfing the web while on the bus heading home and playing games on it during my breaks at work.

The new camera hardware on the 13 Pro sounds impressive, but I can't justify the premium over a refurbished 11 Pro, which is the cheapest triple-lens option out there. And as much as I'd like to wait to see what the 14 brings, my current device will be KO'd by the 3G shutdown this February!

I’m a 12 owner that went to 13 pro. I only got mine today, and I can’t fully load my stuff until tomorrow (lousy internet so I have to go to a friend’s to do all of it), but I put my SIM in and did a basic setup with my iCloud so I could use the camera and just check it out, and I have to say I’m pleased with the jump. I’m disappointed we didn’t lose the notch this year because if we lose it next year I know I’ll upgrade again, but I wanted the better camera, and I had skipped going pro last year with the plan to go pro this year, so I decided what the heck! My son has a smashed camera lens on his 11, so I’ll be passing down the 12.

Tell me, is your/a XS battery life so bad as it's written all over the Web? I wouldn't mind a XS over a 11. Isn't the XS equipped with 3D Touch?
I replaced my battery a few months ago so it’s good now. It makes it through the day, only quick charge once if I have to.

It does have 3D Touch but now it reacts the same way as Haptic Touch since peek & pop feature is gone. Not sure what iOS got rid of that.

If you want a similar form factor id say the SE. If you want a better form factor I’d say 13 Mini

I think they are very appropriately rated. If anything, they are what the 12 lineup should have been from the word go.

The “S” cycle is always the one to go for for people who don’t upgrade yearly.
Absolutely agree. I’ve owned every S iteration since the 3GS. This 13 PM…just wow!

Sometimes I don't know what is an S iteration anymore - after the Xs came 11/12/13... one would think the 12 should have been the S.

For me the 120hz screen was enough to justify the upgrade. I notice the difference that much. I know some people don't notice as much.

I personally thought that 60hz on OLED kind of sucks. Yes, the colors, viewing angles, and black levels are great. But unlike LCD screens which provide a natural blur between frames, OLED does not. The result is that, to me, 60hz OLED often looked jittery or flickery, an issue I never had with LCD phone screens.

The 13 Pro is unquestionably the smoothest device I have ever used. The extra camera features are nice too.
