These forums are outliers. Mainstream consumers don't visit this place.

We saw the exact same thing in 2018 when XR was launched. Hardly anyone in MR talked about it except to disparage the LCD display. It turned out to the best selling smartphone in 2019.

The 14 Plus will be the best selling smartphone globally next year.
I agree. People are gonna go into store, want a big phone at the best price, and walk out with the plus. And be happy about it.

To all the people saying the price difference between 14 plus and 14 pro max is not that important:
- USD 200 + tax is significant
- CAD 300 + tax is significant
- EUR 310 is significant

That’s true, but at least here in the US, the way most consumers buy phones makes this much easier to swallow. Most are buying on installment plans with the carriers. On Verizon, for example, the iPhone 14 Plus is $24.99/month (36 months). The iPhone 14 Pro Max is $30.55/month (36 months). So I think few consumers here are looking at it as a $200 price difference versus a $5.56 monthly difference. And at that point it becomes easier.

If I were getting an iPhone this year (not), I'd select the Plus for the following reasons:
  • lighter weight (almost as light as 8+)
  • no virtual island or whatever they call that stupid notch replacement thing
Still, the notch is an eye sore, including the "island."

Wait till next year.
Me here I'm probably getting the 14 plus i think a big screen phone that's not a Brock will sell alot and for a simplefuy like me i just need a good camera, iMessage and I'm fine. I don't need all that fancy stuff. The 8nplis was light with a big screen and easy to type on.

I'm sold

My Android will probably sell for 200 bucks though but that's life lol.
