Every morning when I pull my iPhone 14 Pro Max off the charger, the display brightness is at zero. I have to manually go in and slide it back up. Anyone else experiencing this? I do have Always on Display turned on, but don't know if that matters. Thanks!
I have also had this problem. I’ve tried various things and nothing has worked.

I just received my 14 pro last week (9/16), worked fine for two day, then the above issues started. Sunday9/25 I updated to IOS 16.2 and it seemed to fix the issue till last night when it did it again. Brightness set to max, using always on display, true tone off, Auto adjust off, using dark background. This needs fixed because I can't see the screen in the morning to adjust in the daylight, have to go into a dark room or basement to see display to adjust. Additional comment is my wife's 11 max is using the same update and just started to mess with her brightness level to make it full bright at night since this update. Not sure of her settings.

Apparent SUCCESS this morning!

Here’s what I did:

Updated iPhone 14 Pro to iOS 16.0.2, which was released yesterday.

Went into Settings > Display and Brightness > Turned Off AOD (Always On Display).

Rebooted iPhone (Pressed Volume Up, the Volume Down, the Held Power Button until Screen went black AND the start-up white Apple Logo appeared, then released it).

After reboot, turned AOD back on, then rebooted iPhone once more.

Placed iPhone on wireless charging stand overnight,

When I woke this morning, I swiped up on the Lock Screen and was delighted to see the Display Brightness had remained where it was sett from last night.

This worked for me. This morning brightness was at the same level I leave it last night. ;)

After updating to 16.0.2, the brightness issue was fixed, but only for two days. It's now gone back to 0% brightness every morning. I suspect it's the restart that made the issue go away, but only temporarily.

We need a fix. Will update if mine does it again in the morning. Frustrating!

Ditto my issue has also returned after two nights of working fine. Can't help to think its a bug with the always on display. Just a hunch. I did report it as a bug as well on the apple website. The more who report it maybe the sooner they will look into it. I hope!

It’s been happening to me on and off. The last 2-3 mornings it’s been fine. Hopefully it’s something they can fix with an update.

I’m still having problems, but now the issue shifted a little bit. The screen is dim when I wake up, but instead of brightness being turned all the way down, the “meter” in the display and brightness setting remains exactly where I set it, but I need to tap it for the brightness to return. For me this has happened two nights in a row. Anyone else?

Yep. It has happened to me as well. Not always but it does happens. I think it’s due to AOD + Sleep Focus ON.

Same here! As well as my partners iPhone 14 pro max- it's not every morning, but enough to bug the **** out of me. We both have the AOD - on. Called Apple support and they have no idea, but think it maybe the phone case. Tried chagrining without the phone case and it worked fine, but its not every day that this happens with or without the case on.

Same here! I have the AOD on, but not sleep focus. I also charge my phone face down...Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.
