A few days in the automation tweak seems to still be working. Hopefully its a set it and forget it until it gets fixed or if it gets fixed.

Same for me and if it continues to work then this is no longer a big deal at all. Sure, it shouldn’t happen, but the workaround is simple and doesn’t require any ongoing intervention

Automation is a ok temp fix but far from ideal if u have variable schedule. Also have to set to occur within Do Not Disturb or mute phone or phone will wake you.

Actually I’m not sure that’s right. I think the issue is when it is on the charger for an extended period so if you set it sometime in the middle of the night toward the early morning it should always work. And you are right about the DND part - that’s important. You are also right that it’s not perfect and of course shouldn’t even be required

Yes its right if you are a surgeon that gets called all hours of the night, so could have to go to work before automation happens and you then must manually fix the brightness. But it's the only fix available right now so there's that. Hopefully Apple does an update soon.

Same issue here, I set My iPhone Max Pro on the charger at night and In the morning when take it off the charger the Brightness is set too zero. I have to manually set the brightness every morning. I'm on 16.03

I have this issue when AOD is activated. For the last 2 weeks I turned off the AOD and I did not at all have any issues of the screen dimming in the morning. And then I turned on the AOD and you guessed it the screen was dimmed all the way in the morning. so it is an issue with the AOD. I will just wait my time till Apple fixes it. No big deal.

Happy to report 16.1 fixed my brightness issue! I made no other changes. Updated yesterday. Put the 14 PM on the charger at night like I always do. But this morning when I woke up, brightness was not set to zero and was at the same level I always keep it at. Hope this solves it for others too.

Give it a few days and then let us know. Before 16.1 it didn't happen every day. Fingers crossed.
