Same here. Both my partner and I upgraded to the 14PM from the 12PM and boom...Issues!I just received my 14 pro last week (9/16), worked fine for two day, then the above issues started. Sunday9/25 I updated to IOS 16.2 and it seemed to fix the issue till last night when it did it again. Brightness set to max, using always on display, true tone off, Auto adjust off, using dark background. This needs fixed because I can't see the screen in the morning to adjust in the daylight, have to go into a dark room or basement to see display to adjust. Additional comment is my wife's 11 max is using the same update and just started to mess with her brightness level to make it full bright at night since this update. Not sure of her settings.
Because it don't happen every day. One day mine works fine and then the next the brightness is down to zero. This worked for me. This morning brightness was at the same level I leave it last night.![]()
Absolutely.Did that help with the brightness being all the way down after charging??
I turned the AOD off and my phone was ok this morning after charging all night, but still we should be able to use AOD.Yeah, frustration is starting to set in with this, I’ve had to power cycle a few times after this issue occurs….simply adjusting the brightness in settings is no longer actually adjusting the brightness. I’m getting into ‘return the device and start over’ territory. Disappointing, especially as expensive as these phones are.
Agreed it is one of the bigger features of the phone so it should work flawlessly without all these issues.I turned the AOD off and my phone was ok this morning after charging all night, but still we should be able to use AOD.
I reported the bug and also highlighted that there are three threads devoted to this issue. However, I don’t have much faith that this will accomplish much.Thought it got better had a night or so without issue then POW! right back at it again.
I know it was posted earlier but it might be worth doing a bug report
with Apple here.

I hope it doesn't fly under their radar.
Not a fix per se, but a workaround for me was to enable screen auto-brightness until Apple pull their finger out and fix this issue.16.0.2 on 14PM did not fix it for me. AOD + weather lockscreen, auto brightness disabled.
I don’t even see the auto brightness setting. The auto I see seems to be for the light or dark screen type. Am I wrong? Not a fix per se, but a workaround for me was to enable screen auto-brightness until Apple pull their finger out and fix this issue.
Of course like many I dislike the phone managing brightness levels but at least no more morning phone annoyance (traded for annoying screen brightness levels throughout the day instead!).

As above auto brightness is under accessibility settings now.I don’t even see the auto brightness setting. The auto I see seems to be for the light or dark screen type. Am I wrong?
It’s here: Go to Settings > Accessibility. Tap Display & Text Size, then turn on/off Auto-Brightness.
I'm updating as well. I have also notice that my iPhone 14 PM now is getting really warm while watching small video clips.Updating to iOS 16.0.3 now. We'll see if it fixes this.
I’m also updating but considering it wasn’t in the list of things addressed I’m not very confidentUpdating to iOS 16.0.3 now. We'll see if it fixes this.
Probably better to start a new thread, as this one is about a different issue...Anyone experiencing your iPhone 14 PM getting really warm just by watching a few small video clips?
They didn't mention quite a few of the issues people were having, so heres hoping.I’m also updating but considering it wasn’t in the list of things addressed I’m not very confident
