I just received my 14 pro last week (9/16), worked fine for two day, then the above issues started. Sunday9/25 I updated to IOS 16.2 and it seemed to fix the issue till last night when it did it again. Brightness set to max, using always on display, true tone off, Auto adjust off, using dark background. This needs fixed because I can't see the screen in the morning to adjust in the daylight, have to go into a dark room or basement to see display to adjust. Additional comment is my wife's 11 max is using the same update and just started to mess with her brightness level to make it full bright at night since this update. Not sure of her settings.
Same here. Both my partner and I upgraded to the 14PM from the 12PM and boom...Issues!

Yeah, frustration is starting to set in with this, I’ve had to power cycle a few times after this issue occurs….simply adjusting the brightness in settings is no longer actually adjusting the brightness. I’m getting into ‘return the device and start over’ territory. Disappointing, especially as expensive as these phones are.

Apple says that they haven't really received any complaints of this issue and try to say that it could be the case that you are using, lol

I turned the AOD off and my phone was ok this morning after charging all night, but still we should be able to use AOD.

Thought it got better had a night or so without issue then POW! right back at it again.
I know it was posted earlier but it might be worth doing a bug report
with Apple here.

I hope it doesn't fly under their radar.
I reported the bug and also highlighted that there are three threads devoted to this issue. However, I don’t have much faith that this will accomplish much.

16.0.2 on 14PM did not fix it for me. AOD + weather lockscreen, auto brightness disabled.
Not a fix per se, but a workaround for me was to enable screen auto-brightness until Apple pull their finger out and fix this issue.

Of course like many I dislike the phone managing brightness levels but at least no more morning phone annoyance (traded for annoying screen brightness levels throughout the day instead!).

Was just on a online chat with apple and they were less than useful, They just looked at the diagnostic test and found nothing wrong and that was pretty much the end of that. Bring on a fix!

I don’t even see the auto brightness setting. The auto I see seems to be for the light or dark screen type. Am I wrong?

It’s here: Go to Settings > Accessibility. Tap Display & Text Size, then turn on/off Auto-Brightness.

As above auto brightness is under accessibility settings now.

Let us know how you go… workaround has worked so far for me with no more morning zero brightness problem.

Been having this too. Always at zero when i wake up. tried everything. Randomly Ive also had the brightness at zero but the slider is still all the way up.

Weird I also always have a notification saying shortcuts are enabled or something. I dont have any shortcuts running. ill screen shot in the am

I have had a issue with after walking up in the morning the screen is dim and i have to move the brightness slider down then up even though it’s already all the way up for it to go bright. Anyone else having this issue.
