And it won't be long before the U.S. forces Apple to use USB-C over Lightning as well.

Why not? If Apple can use USB-C ports for the newest iPad models (being the iPad 9, the iPad Mini 6, the iPad Air 4 & 5 & the iPad Pro 3-5), then they could surely use USB-C for the newest iPhones in the near future, too. USB-C is standard everywhere.

This would hurt Apple profit a lot.

So let me get right...

The non-Pro, standard iPhone 14, if the rumours are all to be believed:

  • Will look near enough identical
  • Still have the same notch as the 13
  • Be the same size and have the same size screen
  • Have a variant of the A15 chip (same as the 13)
  • Won't have pro-motion
  • Have a slightly better camera and battery life
All of this and Apple will likely charge you an extra $100-$200 above the current 13 prices for the pleasure.

Honestly, Apple should be ashamed if all this is true. What has happened to this company? One that prided itself on innovation and offering new and exciting products is now happy to put out lacklustre devices like this.

Should have at least had the pill-shaped cutout and pro-motion. 120hz displays have been around for years now, and in 2022 Apple is still going to be selling a (likely) $800+ phone with a 60hz display.

I just hope when they reveal the new devices in September that they have a hidden surprise or two for the non-Pro models, and not just some trivial software update that won't be available at launch or slightly deeper shade of red as a colour option.
Apple doesn't make phones with last year's buyers in mind. That's why they keep a design for 2-3 years before refreshing it. Will the iPhone 14 be lackluster compared to the 13? Highly likely. But it's not being created for iPhone 13 users to upgrade from.

Yeah, every year, folks forget that there are over 6 billion people in the world without iPhones :)

Price may be irrelevant to iPhone enthusiasts but we all know the majority of smartphone consumers are not enthusiasts.

Price is far from being irrelevant and is by far a driving factor in the popularity of certain iPhone models. If price didn’t matter, then more people would be buying the Pro and Pro Max every year.
That was a troll post, unless it's someone who has been endowed with a trust fund.

I use an iPhone 13 Pro for work and an S22 Ultra for personal stuff. I'm kinda getting tired of the iPhone design and UI as well as the weight. If it's the same design, I won't be coming back to Apple.

It’s always good when folks get devices they actually WANT to use everyday. :) If that’s not the iPhone, then it’s just not the iPhone, nothing wrong with that!

How is your S22 experience? Look like Samsung does not sell the same phone again after 1 year with higher price and just different camera location lol xd.

I have never owned a iPhone more than a year or less, have had them all since 4S, won't be swapping my 13 max this year though. Has everything I need/want.

I’m hoping Apple will lower the price of the 14 since there won’t be a mini model according to the rumours. I loved the 13 mini and I wish they would update it. I think they will keep selling the 13 mini like they did with the 12 mini.

We shall see :)

100% increase price

There’s a substantial market for MFi accessories like Lightning earphones. That, and the fact that there are millions of iPhone users, Apple will lose a significant sum of profits made from MFi accessories if they switch to USB-C.

I doubt they’d release the EXACT same phone twice.
They did it before (ipad mini 3, which is just ipad mini 2 with TouchID, and iphone 5c, which is just iphone 5 in plastic she'll). And the last 3 version of Apple watches pretty much has the same chip, only differing in number.

Apple will do what Apple would do to maximize revenue.

All LV bags basically are the same except the pattern lol xd iPhone 14 will look little bit different from iPhone 13 lol xd

There were minor differences between those products. We haven’t seen anything like the 5c since which makes it a unique Apple product. The chassis of the 14 is identical to the 13 so the only difference I can think of is that it’ll house the 13 Pro’s SOC with the 5 core GPU as opposed to the 4 core GPU along with a RAM bump.

The only main difference will be the location of the two camera circles

It isn't really unheard of that Apple would just have the same SoC in it especially since they do the same thing with the watches but what a lot of people seem to forget is, Android devices still have not caught up with power, and the biggest improvements that most consumers will most notice would be those to the cameras and also why do you care if you have a 13mini? Did you plan on getting a 14 a year later?

I have an iPhone 11 and power-wise that's even competitive with the most powerful Android phones.

From an iPhone 13 Pro perspective, I was considering "downgrading" to the next non-Pro model - reason being is that I don't make most of the headline feature: photography and media creation.

That the Pro models will be further distinguished from the non-Pro models in more ways than before is so Apple.

If the rumours proved to be true, I might just hold onto my 13 Pro for a few more years until the non-Pro offers something what I like, but I don't know if the features I like (battery, screen etc) would ever trickle down.
