Eh, I'll never see the color due to the case. This was the first year I missed the actual preorder period so I just kinda wanted to be done with this.
It was giving me stress checking everyday and I def. don't have to patience to place a delivery order and have it arrive weeks later.
I see. I use it nude so color is very important to me.

This is very odd. Why would you buy a 999 phone you don't even want? Purple is available in my store as well but I'm still waiting for space black. No compromise, especially when it's something I'll have to look at everyday. I don't like reminders of my failures. Space black or bust!
I agree with that statement. Why not just order on the website and have it delivered at a later date? Saves you time and hassle checking inventory everyday right?

Wondering if I should go in person and see if I can just grab one the old fashion way

This is me to a T. My criteria will open up as time goes by finding nothing. Yesterday even Maxes were popping up fairly often, but now that I am paid, nada again.

Because you'll most likely get one in store before five weeks. And too much bad can happen with deliveries. Might be frustrating, but I'll just keep checking stores.

Have you guys seen any inventory in the LA OC area for the maxes at all this week? Usually it’ll pop up in the morning. I’ve been checking between 7 and 8:30

I saw my Apple Store had new stock of the Pro Max so I called the store to setup a reservation and exchanged my pro for the max. Just gotta check throughout the day on the apple store app. They get shipments daily.

Yesterday was the day for the Lehigh Valley PA area, but I wasn't paid yet LOL. The rest of the week, including today, has zero Maxes and rare regular Pros that barely last two minutes. Actually I had a max today but got the VZW Policies error :(

Changed my 256gb sb pro for a 128gb pro max in sb that I was able to get online for launch day . Keep wishing I got a 256gb and was able to find one to pickup in store . Missed my time slot yesterday for it . Going to pickup today . Seems like they start popping up in my area around Denver Colorado around noon.

Called two of the stores in my area…Just for them say they don’t have none. Hopefully they aren’t lying lol

I understand the paranoia but I got a Space Black 256 GB iPhone 14 Pro for the $999 price last Friday by delivery.

Originally had an iPhone 14 Pro Purple launch day. Returned it after the weekend on Monday.
Found an iPhone 14 Pro Max 512gb Purple through Apple Store app at Century City Apple Store (I'm in Los Angeles.)
I've done this every single year, and I will say the stock is WAY less for Pro Max this year, only have seen around 3 show up for various colors since launch day for same day store pickup.

You would think by now Apple would produce enough phones knowing every year people upgrade. Smh

i think the scarcity tactic drives up demand... this entire rollout and the big oopsy on pro max stock forecasts is so weird and draws parallels to the scramble for the PS5

Definitely! It’s crazy though that PS5 2 years later you still can’t walk into a store and pick one up.

At least with Apple it's a reasonable time to fix it. The Wii and PS5 are ridiculous. You shouldn't be out of stock after YEARS

I didn't preorder because it showed October dates.
I ordered it on Sunday for store pick up and picked it up on Monday.
Inventory checker shows all empty at 8 nearby stores now.

There's some Pro Max's at Beverly Center & also at the Americana, but that is as of now (11:00am)

Nearly every flagship iPhone has been like this at launch. It's nothing new. It's usually like 2-3 months before there's enough supply to match demand and one can easily just walk into a store and expect them to have stock.
Agreed. Every single launch of any popular tech product is like this and will be till the end of time. Two reasons:
  • They can't start manufacturing until the design is done, FCC and carrier approvals secured, etc. So the factories can only start churning out product a couple months before preorders again. No more than that.
  • It makes no economic sense to scale up factories and staffing to churn out a massive amount of product at the beginning for that initial rush of demand, then scale way back for the rest of the year. No company is going to do that. That's not how manufacturing works, especially during a pandemic/supply chain crisis.

And there always seems to be that balance of too soon with ridiculous backorder or too long with people getting impatient and getting somethine else. And at least Apple gets it on track pretty quickly, but why don't Nintendo and Sony ramp up production for consoles that are in high demand for years and not just months? I was laughing in Gamestop when the woman was mumbling about the Wii as she left, "So we have to stalk the store??"
