Same here in Switzerland. The Silver Pro Max 256 never appears in any store and I hate preordering. Loading apple website I’ve got a regular 256 pro to my wife last Monday. Now is me suffering daily hopping to find a Silver Max lol
Im so pissed that if a 512go pops up I’ll take it even though 256 is more adequate to my use. The resell value of 512 or 1to is not interesting here. Doesn’t add any value when we trade.
We both sold our 13 pro / pro max few days ago but if we knew it would be this hustle we would not.
I got a new 13 mini meanwhile to use later as a backup. Battery is annoying in comparison to the max but man, this little phone is really good.
I'm pretty stressed. I want to exchange my 14 Pro for a 14 Pro Max, but in-store inventory is just SO bad, and I'm worried I'm not going to be able to get one before my return window expires. I've been monitoring all day today, and only one store 4 hours away got new stock of two Pro Maxes which lasted about 10 minutes. I've been looking here and there since middle of last week, and I haven't seen my local Apple Store get a new Pro Max once. I only see stores 1-4 hours away getting new models.
I'd 100% drive an hour away to get my model if they had it, and maybe even 2 hours away, especially as my return window gets closer to ending, but working all day then trying to rush to an Apple Store two hours away to then drive two hours back sounds awful.
I don't really have a backup device to use until I can find a Pro Max.

As someone, somewhere in this forum posted. If you have a mac, you could use this app:
Basically set your nearby store and select the model you are looking for for. You will get notification as soon as a store has stock.
I believe last thursday is when Apple stores received quite a few stock because that is also when they received the shipment for the apple watch ultra. I was able to get the 1 tb of the 14 pro max. I had the 512 gb model of the pro max but exchanged it for the 1 tb.

Good to know about the Thursday restock. Do you know what time of day the restock seemed to happen? Thursday is the last day to return my 14 Pro based on the 14 calendar day return window...
Not really? You underestimate my lazyness and Karenness (when needed). There is literally no way anyone can make me drive 2 hours and that too to inconvenience me. I think 10 times before even driving 5 mins to pick up my food vs getting it delivered, and delivery still wins 9/10 times.
I mean, what can they really do? I already paid and I have the phone. If they refund it, that's on them.
And I've dealt with Apple mishaps several times, their customer support is pretty good and it's really not that hard to get your way, especially when you're in the right. For example, they messed up my watch trade-in once and shipped back the watch without ever processing it. To fix it they let me keep my old watch *and* still let me have the trade-in amount. Essentially got my S7 almost for free!

That’s no problem. For me my stress levels and health are more important than exchanging an iPhone. More power to you.
The truth at least in years prior is that there is potentially a low number of stock in inventory (or not), even
if showing as unavailable online. When their inventory would fall below a certain level, it would black out online,
but they would still have stock.
I personally don't gamble with that, as certain models restock at any point of the day and sometimes late at night (certain days they don't get anything at all). The only way I do it is wait till an iPhone shows as in stock online at a nearby Apple Store, and reserve it for in store pick up.
It's hard to tell to be honest. Apple receive shipments on a daily basis and when they get shipments they update their inventory once they scan the boxes. It really varies of when they deliver. I've noticed that if it's in the morning anywhere between 10 am to 12 pm. In the afternoon anywhere from 12 pm to 4 pm you can expect apple.com to change status. 9/22/22 was around 10:30 am when I saw that store near my had received the apple watch ultra's along with more iphones.
Yeah I learned my lesson last year when I ordered the Pro and was like crap, maybe I should’ve got the Pro Max. This year, I made sure I pre-ordered the Pro Max and was sure of the color so I wouldn’t have to stress like this.
Today was a bust. Nothing showed up today. Tomorrow another day at this.
It's tough. It really keeps you tethered to your phone/computer all day to keep checking. It's kind of exhausting. Wishing good luck to both of us today!

Sold my 13 Pro Max 256 for 900$ and I'm almost buying a second hand one in mint conditions by the same price.
What Apple is doing to us is a disgrace. Why not producing in high quantity to feed the initial orders in a faster pace...

Picked up my airpods pro 2/traded in 13PM (I'm on IUP) yesterday at 11 am. Store opens at 11 am. I got in at 11:15 am. Store was already packed. Employee who took care of me mentioned they haven't gotten a single 14 pro in days. So many people there was asking for the 14 pro's. Many tourist too. He said nothing like last year 13 pro's. Easier to get. 14 pro has huge demands and hard to get right now. Store was apple dadeland btw.
No shipment over the weekend according to my local store - I’ve been checking constantly Saturday and Sunday: seems to be true.

Yea I'm tempted to just wait until Thursday again to even look so I can make an appointment Saturday at most stores instead of making my criteria even tighter during the week since there is only one store reasonably close for a weekday evening drive. And this is if Apple's systems ever update that my VZW installments are paid. The woman in the Apple store said 48h but it's 77h+ now. I actually wonder if VZW purposely does it to get people to order through them. I would if they had a stellar system like Apple to search in store stock.
