Even now depends on how lucky you get and how specific you are. You might walk in as they are unpacking.

EDIT: The one thing i wonder is are the in store reps for walkins searching the same stock as someone on apple.com?

I was able to find ONE 14P 256 in stock about 45 minutes from me and I selected courier delivery for tomorrow. I think I need to call Apple though.

I currently have an 14P already that was purchased on the iUP program and I returned my 13P already. Apple received it and its currently in the "inspecting your phone" stage but now the 14P that I received on launch day will be returned and Ill activate the new one. Technically then the 13P I returned to Apple is linked to the current 14P not the new one I will be receiving tomorrow. Hopefully that doesn't screw anything up with my return.

Looks like stock has been loading up the last hour.

Was able to grab a 14 Pro purple for the wife, now I’m still looking for silver Pro Max for me in 256. The hunt continues.
Yea seeing some closer stores. Just have to wait for Apple's system to update my VZW installments are paid off

And there always seems to be that balance of too soon with ridiculous backorder or too long with people getting impatient and getting somethine else. And at least Apple gets it on track pretty quickly, but why don't Nintendo and Sony ramp up production for consoles that are in high demand for years and not just months? I was laughing in Gamestop when the woman was mumbling about the Wii as she left, "So we have to stalk the store??"
I think the issue with the consoles is cost. They could ramp up production and ask their supply chain to prioritize them, but it would cost them. Component costs are a massive issue for console makers, and they are already under pressure because consoles are usually sold at a loss and inflation is currently a big problem. They could raise prices, but the first console maker to blink and do this is going to feel some serious pain in the sales numbers. So their only solution is to build them slowly and as cheaply as possible.

I may be wrong, but that's my theory.

Likely yes, though you'll still run into "out of stock" situations so you'll need to call around or check online before going. But it should get easier in those months.

Need a Pro or Pro Max for the holidays? ……….Better order now
Too many variables this year

All the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus users are returning their phone for the Pro's. Lol. I'm joking, but that may be the case.
I did exactly that.

This was going to be the year I scaled down from a Pro Max to a regular plain-Jane iPhone that would be lighter and cheaper so I'd shlep it around without a case and it would be easy to slip in and out of my pocket, so I'd be more likely to take spontaneous photos — like I used to do before I started buying big, heavy, expensive kit.

Well. I took the new iPhone 14 (in that pale lavender that is not really purple) to a Renaissance festival over the weekend, and I just didn't warm to it. The few pictures I took were mediocre at best. It gave me no pleasure to hold or to look at. So on Monday I returned it — and by that time, of course, all the Pro models were back-ordered out until mid-October in the States. Now I'm using a loaner XR from a friend while waiting for a 14 Pro in space black.

Nothing unusual here. The stores Only get so many of the most popular models iPhone. The Pro and ProMax are selling very well so you will be lucky to find one at a store. They do get a shipment everyday and there could be more ProMax units, depending on Apple‘s inventory.

I am sure Apple is making as many ProMax units it can, they got Christmas coming and do not want to disappoint.

Of course if you live near by, you can always check for stock availability for the pro models.

Sony did just recently raise the price of the PS5 everywhere except the US.

What an absolute disaster.

So Friday I find one 14P in stock at a store an hour away from me so I order it through iUP and do courier delivery for Saturday between 1030am and 1230pm.

Saturday comes and I can see the order is out for delivery one minute then the next it days delivered. Which obviously doesn’t make sense since the store is over an hour away. I panic and call apple and they say the courier cancelled the delivery but no worries let’s call the store and see what we can do.

They call the store and I ask if I could make the drive and just pick it up myself, they said absolutely no problem come in. I drive the hour, they make me wait 20 minutes and they come out and tell me they really shouldn’t be giving me the phone since the pick up name is the couriers and not mine but they would make the exception but that I should call apple to get my courier delivery fee returned So I leave, get home and set it up and it’s perfect.

I call Apple and all hell breaks loose. Apparently they are NOT allowed to give a courier delivery phone to the customer directly and the store shouldn’t have done that. They can’t mark the phone picked up because it was technically not by the courier. The Apple rep calls the store and asks how we can resolve and they are like we can’t, there’s nothing we can do and the order will get refunded even though I already have the phone.

So the apple rep and store rep literally get into a huge argument because the rep was trying her best to keep me from making the hour long drive back to the store, they were going back and forth for 30 minutes on how the store messed up and this is not good blah blah blah. So I need to make the drive all over so they can essentially return my phone then let me rebuy it which results in ANOTHER credit check. It’s just so ridiculous. I asked if I could keep the current phone and she said “in theory” but I would most likely have to replace it so they they happen to have one more 256spb PM so she put it on hold.

The Apple rep apologized profusely and she was great about the whole thing but man what a cluster****, so today I’ll head back up and see what happens.

There’s no chance in hell I would drive back an hour to return that phone.

I don’t want to but I have no choice. They basically said if I don’t return to the store that I could be blacklisted from Apple for good because I essentially stole the phone.

That so stupid. Why are so great with CS in one thing and crap in another. Like if you have a shipment stolen, which isn't the customer's fault, they they should send you an immediate replacement, not make you wait again. For courier deliveries, just put the customer's name too. Plus your name is on the account. What morons!

Yes, and no... New orders online and in-store pull for the same inventory. However, the online inventory show a few less available phones than reality. This way, someone online doesn't snag the last phone while a store rep is getting one for an in-store customer.

In other words they have a buffer. They have a few in inventory that can be sold in the store that don't show up online.

For example if the buffer for a particular iphone model is 3, and there are 6 available in store, then the website would show the item as In-Stock. If there were only 2 available in store, then the website would show the item is Out-of-Stock.

There have been a couple of times I walked in the store and asked about an iphone or watch that showed Out-of-Stock on the website, and they had a couple in the store. Oh, and before anyone asks... No, you aren't able to call the store directly and ask what they have in-stock. You have to drive in and ask in person. :(

Lol there's still no way in hell I'd make the drive. And how could they even blacklist you? This isn't a casino or something. If they *really* need to make the exchange or whatever I'd make them pick it up. Otherwise, I'd just keep the free phone and let them "blacklist" me, whatever that might mean.

Realistically though, sometimes you need to be a Karen and act entitled af, and that's what you needed to do in this situation. It's not your mess up so it's not your responsibility to fix it. I'd have them fix it and also give me something extra for wasting my time and putting me through this whole ordeal.
