The age old "cover your backside" story when units don't move the way they did the previous year.
Unfortunately that didn't apply to iPhone sales. Last year, we knew it was sold out more than a year before and yet there were still stories like supply constrained months precede the release. No difference with this year.

Apple is running into difficulties with iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max display manufacturing, which could lead to a limited number of devices being available at launch in September.

Rumors have suggested that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will have slimmer bezels than the iPhone 14 Pro models, and it is this decrease in bezel size that is creating issues.

According to The Information, Apple suppliers are using a new display manufacturing process to shrink the bezel size, and it is causing problems with displays made by LG Display. Apple had a similar problem with the Apple Watch Series 7 display size increase in 2019, and that device was delayed by about a month.

The LG displays are failing reliability tests during a process where the display is fused to the metal shell. Apple is tweaking the design of the LG display so it can pass the tests, and it still has displays from Samsung that it can use for assembly.

The Information does not believe that Apple will delay the launch of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, but will instead have fewer units available at launch, leading to shortages. The manufacturing issue will hit the iPhone 15 Pro Max the hardest, and it sounds like it will be the device that will be most difficult to get at launch.

It is not unusual for at least one iPhone model to be in short supply, and there have been launch situations where the iPhone models sell out entirely and people are left waiting for months for Apple to ramp up production and meet demand. In this situation, Apple will likely see its profit margins impacted and its holiday quarter revenue lower than expected.

Earlier today, a report from Bank of America global securities analyst Wamsi Mohan suggested that Apple's iPhone 15 devices could be delayed by a "few weeks," but he did not provide a reason for the delay. It sounds like he heard hints of the display manufacturing issue and figured it would lead to a delayed October launch, but The Information thinks Apple will still launch in September as expected.

The Information claims that the iPhone 15 Pro models are now at the "risk ramp" manufacturing stage at Foxconn, with the company testing how reliably the devices can be built without defects. Mass production is expected to begin in August.

I've no plans to upgrade my 13pro, especially as the 15 pro will be compromised with the camera's 😏

Silver was so unbelievably supply constrained last year they had me choose between the gold and deep purple because they literally did not know if or when silver units would come and could not give me an estimate

Talk about constrained, remember the first white iPhone. There was even a guy who was charging people to paint their black iPhones white (until he got a cease and desist letter from one of the Apple lawyers).

For people like me still poking around on an iPhone 12 (I know, I know) the iPhone 15 is a must have. A usb-c port is all I need.
Nothing shame about poking around an iPhone 12. Me still poking around iPhone XS Max, and many other pokes around older iPhone too.
If Apple intentionally cripple USB-C (meaning no wired fast charging and USB 1.1 transfer speed (ye im ***** Apple on this sarcasm)) in order to make their lightning port feel superior, Idk what to say.

From what I'm seeing this affects mostly Max models. From what I know, the bigger batteries are made by Sunwoda. Meanwhile the smaller batteries found in Pro are by Desay. My day one 14P is still at 100% (Desay battery in 3uTools).
My 14 Pro Max battery was made by Desay in August like the phone. I was maybe a week or so after release. Still at 100% but 3uTools has me only 70 over design capacity so soon I will start to drop also.

BTW, when I was in the beta program with the 12 PM, my battery health dropped like a rock. At Apple they will never increase the battery capacity in the phone. So I had to wait like half a year before it started going down again

Meh... I've heard this every year since 2014. Was only true once.

Besides, if they let us select the phone a couple days prior like they have the last couple years, checking out should be fast enough.

Yea the dynamic island is terrible. OLED Android phones for $500 that have solved the under the screen issue. And you get at minimal a pin hole. I wish they just made the notch thinner.
I agree ! They tried to make the notch more “fun” with the Dynamic Island, but it’s actually pretty useless, and I don’t even notice it most of the time on my 14 PM. It looked cooler in the ads, but in reality you’ll barely even notice it’s there. Been very underwhelmed by it.

Noooo! The Silver iPhone is so nice and elegant looking. I wonder how it’s going to look under Titanium since stainless steel isn’t going to be used. It should really make it scratch resistant.

Back in the day I never got an iPhone that wasn't white. I've not had one in years and years though. I may try to white still. We'll see what they look like in a few months.

Question to the peanut gallery. Has there EVER been an Apple product launch that the rumor mill did not predict delays, manufacturing issues, constrained supply? It’s a broken record.

Having bought iPhones since 3GS I would say it is a combo of Apple Marketing hype along with bait and click articles by press to keep excitement in their media ;)o_O🙃
