The iPhone 15 Pro will be 10% lighter, which is about 20g less!

I’ve already complained about the mini being significantly heavier than the OG SE (by 27 g or 24 %). It’s the relative change that counts. The 14 Pro Max is more than double the weight of the OG SE or iPhone 5/5S. That’s the perspective.
It’s also got almost twice the screen area, at least twice the battery life. The camera module alone is probably nearing 50% of the size and weight of the 5S.

I do actually like a bit of weight to the phone though. As I’m moving from 14P to 15PM it looks like I’ll be ok though

I still use my iphone 8+ to fulfill the role of an ipod, and it always is surprising how much lighter, easier to hold and sleek it feels compared to my 13 pro max. In many ways I regret moving to the 13 becuase honestly, the 8+ is the perfect form factor. It's obviously much slower, but for calls & texts it performs fine. Point is, I like having the big screen & great camera of the pro max, but the damn thing is so heavy and it's like carrying around a brick.

No offense to anyone but that’s a few extra pennies that would be unnoticeable without a scale.
Not true, i noticed a huge difference when i went from a 8 Plus to a 12 Pro Max, i always wore drawstring shorts or pants. The added weight was very noticeable, i know i could always buy new pants but no one expects a phone to be that heavy.

Weight is my #1 determining factor for which model I choose. Any cost is fine, I just want low weight. But if it’s only reduced back to 11 pro weight I’m afraid that’s still too much for me. I’m still on my 11 pro and am so tired of pinky pain from it. I’ve been waiting for something lighter, but guess I’ll have to go non-pro.

Nah, iPhone 5 is the best one ever created. No silly protruding camera bump! View attachment 2256860
I had owned every version of the iPhone up to the release of the iPhone 5. I hated it and regretted trading in my iPhone 4S at the time. I hated the iPhone 5 so much that I ended up trading it in for an HTC One M7 and giving Android a try for the first time. My time with the HTC One M7 ended after the back camera failed about 6-7 months into owning it. I then bought a refurbished iPhone 4S just to get back in the iOS ecosystem. Kept that until the 6 Plus came out. I never bothered with the 5C, 5S or the SE1.

I can't speak for the quality of the 5C, 5S, or SE1, but the original 5 literally came out of the box with marks along the aluminum edges and Apple claimed that was normal.

No wonder I love my iPhone 12 mini at 135 grams.
When I got my iPhone 12 mini I thought, maybe I'll try my gf's iPhone X that she was returning but oooooof. Too heavy.

The widely-rumored titanium frame on Apple's upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will make the devices about 10% lighter than the iPhone 14 Pro models, according to a report today from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

iPhone-XS-Max-Black-Background.jpeg

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max weigh 206 grams and 240 grams, respectively, according to Apple's tech specs for the devices. An approximate 10% weight reduction would result in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max weighing around 185 grams and 216 grams, respectively. This would make the iPhone 15 Pro the lightest Pro model since the iPhone XS, which weighs 177 grams. Likewise, the iPhone 15 Pro Max would be the lightest Max model since the iPhone XS Max, which weighed 208 grams.

Given that Gurman said the weight reduction will be "about" 10%, the exact figures remain to be seen. If the iPhone 15 Pro ends up being 188 grams or heavier, it would instead be the most lightweight Pro model since the iPhone 11 Pro. In any case, it appears that the upcoming Pro models will be the lightest in several generations of devices.

Pro model weights:
  • iPhone X: 174 grams
  • iPhone XS: 177 grams
  • iPhone 11 Pro: 188 grams
  • iPhone 12 Pro: 189 grams
  • iPhone 13 Pro: 203 grams
  • iPhone 14 Pro: 206 grams
  • iPhone 15 Pro: ~185 grams?
Pro Max model weights:
  • iPhone XS Max: 208 grams
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max: 226 grams
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max: 228 grams
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max: 238 grams
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max: 240 grams
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max: ~216 grams?

Probably the biggest feature, it will weigh less than 11 Pro which is great if true.
I'm very happy with my 13 Pro, however at 203 g it's way too heavy, if they flattened the camera bump as well that would be a definite upgrade for me, as those two issues are my biggest bug bearers

Yup. I never understood the "Phones being too heavy" thing. They're phones. Even the heaviest ones are still pretty damn light. The way people complain you'd think Apple was asking them to carry around 25 lb dumb bells.. lol.

For something that is handheld the weight of it is important. And iPhone Pros have been one of the heaviest phones out there.

Curious if anyone has heard anything about sapphire glass now that the outer frame is titanium? If it would be built with that new frame to protect the sapphire this could offer the best of all worlds an no more phone scratches from keys in the pocket..

Very unlikely, I remember all the outcry from the customers after charging their phones a few times and it was already chipped near the lightning port, because some of them had a problem finding the hole apparently…
If you don't look after your phone, they will all get chipped.
Had mine for 4 years, as beautiful when I sold it as the day I bought it 😊

The iPhone Pro’s have been getting too heavy. I get the stainless steel looks nice but I see that for like maybe 2 - 3 minutes before the case goes on and never again. I was fine with aluminium to be honest.

I also have a Samsung Fold 5, it’s barely any heavier than the iPhone 14 Pro Max and it’s got 2 screens, one of which is obviously rather large. All I imagine because it doesn’t use stainless steel.

I love my iPhones, had everyone every year. I like the size of the Pro Max but the weight of the Pro. Hoping this year I can get close to the weight of a 14 Pro in a 15 Pro Max.

exciting stuff—I will admit I’m one of a few who likes the “dense” feel of a heavier phone, but the large size (combined with my small hands) makes it much more prone to slipping outta my hands. moving to titanium is a great choice on Apple’s part.
