I wish you could just pay like 30 EUR monthly and return it after a year to get the new one. I don’t need to „own“ it.
In Finland you can. Also includes the internet etc At least Gigantti had such deals.

Clever. Keep repeating that rumor often enough so everyone will accept the price hike eventually. If I were Apple I’d deliberately spread that intel in preparation of the reveal… ;)

Shouldn’t there be a business reason behind price hikes? Like increased component costs, new pricier tech or foreign exchange? Increasing prices just because you assume consumers will be willing to pay more seems like not treating your customers very well.
Everything costs more; it is the world we live in right now.

Have you gotten your car insurance renewal recently? Homeowners insurance? Gone to a grocery store?

If I had a dime for every iPhone release that they predict will be a “super cycle”…

To me, the only real super cycle was the iPhone 6. That phone convinced even 5s users to upgrade in huge numbers due to larger screen. That has played out and I have yet to see any one specific iPhone after the 6 convince people in the same manner to upgrade from their current one-year old device. Not even 5G with the 12.

This is exactly what iPhone Upgrade Program does in the States:

In Europe and elsewhere, however, things get more complicated. Here in France, for example, some companies lease Apple gear, but it still works out quite expensive. La FNAC, Darty and some others do offer their 12 or 24 months leasing on Apple products, but it is still not as attractive as buying a new device outright and selling your old one on the used market to get some money back.

Say, I can sell my iPhone 12 mini for around 240€ right now and if prices remain the same iPhone 15 entry model will start here at 1019€. So it is 779€ out of my pocket for a brand new iPhone 15. If we divide 779€ by 24 months we get 32€ per month, however the current leasing prices for iPhone 14 start at around 45€. And if we buy it outright, we can then resell it again when we feel like changing. So, IMO, unless Apple expand their iPhone upgrade programme, right now leasing it is not so appealing.

Any year the price stays the same, it is going down due to inflation. The fact that the price points have stayed the same for so long means that we have been paying less with each iteration. Based on inflation, the $1,000 dollar phone I bought 3 years ago would cost $1,090 today. Of course 3% is just a ball park figure as inflation impacts different economies and sectors differently, but the point remains.

So Apple will be selling less base iPhone Pros this year and they’re going to take it out on the new customer by charging more so they maintain their unsustainable profit margins?

Did I get that right? Clearly no genius in here thinks we are getting a $100 in added value.

Now that they've been added to the PRC's naughty list, they'll certainly be selling fewer iPhones in China.

lol, besides the siliciconchip/A chip apple hardware is worser than low spect other phones. Almost every other phone is better hardware wise unlike the chip. And the OS. That’s apple’s main thing. Imagine them screwing that up, they’d be gone lol.

or just pay for the phone and it’s yours? Apple relies heavily on poor people using their phones. Majority of users wouldn’t be able to afford it if there wasn’t a payment plan of carrier plan lol.
Some people like to take advantage of the 0% and 3% cashback.

Also, what if you bought a phone and next year‘s model is even greater would you rather pay in full and trade in or pay for one year on installments and trade in?

The cost of admission is $100 higher that the 14 Base but that was also 128GB
The base price went up, 'nuff said, it's a price hike. The amount of storage is pretty much irrelevant to the discussion of base price.

Isn't there a specific feature/file format that you can shoot in with the 14 Pro/Max that requires 256gb storage model to use. With new camera hardware and software, makes sense to move forward with a base increase to 256gb

This kind of thinking by the uniformed is why corporate greed has been able to go unchecked because the rubes just think "oh, it's inflation lol" when it's purely profit taking.
And how informed are you? Did you take the increased wages of the entire R&D team into account? What about Marketing and Sales? Office Management and utility bills? Overseas production and supply? Travel costs? And so on.

Please provide your analysis concluding it’s purely profit taking.

I’m not saying you’re wrong but if you call somebody uniformed, the least you can do is do better.

It is. Apple ProRes. Available only for models 256GB and more.

The business reason here is inflation. The Phone X started at $999, as did the 11 pro, 12 pro, 13 pro, and 14 pro. The fact that the prices have stayed the same the last 5 years while inflation has continued to inflate means that the real prices have actually fallen by 3% or so a year. This is less of a hike and more of a correction.

I am not defending Apple, but they are improving the phone in other areas titanium, the radio, the cameras and the storage so if you want those things 100 bucks doesn’t seem too outrageous. I have the 13 Pro Max 512 and will be waiting to buy a 15 promax when they become available used.
I don't blame apple, they have a right to set their prices however they want and it's up to us consumers whether we want to pay it, or not.

What bothers me is people saying that it's not a price hike because it may, and I stress may, since Apple hasn't said that yet, have more storage that the base priced iPhone last year. The key is base price here people, if I can't get *anything* for the same price I did last year, it's a price hike.

I'm planning on switching to Apple for the first time this year but if they increase the price again in Europe like they did last year while keeping the US price the same I really have to think about it. The currency excuse from last year is gone and inflation also doesn't count if they keep the US price the same.

Yo! i am a long time apple consumer BUT here's the solution to teach Apple a lesson on hike prices and not given the consumer what we deserve.....

DO NOT BUY IPHONE AND OTHER APPLE PRODUCTS.

We will now see the difference in between the smart and idiot people.

Thank you. Exactly what I was going to say. Everything is higher now. Houses. Interest rates. Cars. Groceries. Car insurance. Home insurance. Day care.

Everything is higher except paychecks funny how that works.

With not much of an upgrade for a lot of users, this year will be a hard sell for the iPhone but I expect it to sell well but not sold out everywhere like previous years
This year likely isn't so much about upgrading current users as it is about bring some Android used back tot he iPhone fold. I have been an Android used since the Galaxy S3 (My last iPhone was the 4) and this year will be the first I am giving an iPhone serious consideration. Lightning cables have been the last hold back for me, now that the iPhone's screen size and battery life have caught up to (and surpassed) the top mainstream Androids.

$100 to get rid of Lightning cables in favor of USB-C is a worthwhile deal for me.

I don’t get the Type C obsession. I pick up a lightning cable and you know what it’s a lightning cable.

I pick up a Type C cable. What wattage is this cable? They don’t have anything on them that tell you so the more Type C cables you have the worse it gets. Is this a data cable or a charge only cable? Thunderbolt or USB 3.1 3.2 4.0?

Type C is a mess.

I also wouldn’t put it past Apple to say Type C phones won’t work with Type A CarPlay systems. There will be some lightning authentication that doesn’t work right and they will say get a new car.
