Sounds pretty mediocre. The big upgrade is obviously going to be Apple Intelligence, I think that is Apple's plan to push this years upgrade. Otherwise, what do you have? A slightly bigger phone and better ultrawide camera?

And these rumoured „extended AI“ capabilities for the 16 phones… yeah fine but it will take Apple at least until mid 2025 to implement all the AI features that they’ve presented so far, if we talk about the EU it will be a different story that most likely took even longer.
We will be very very close to the iPhone 17 release until we got all the „magical“ AI features.

And the most advanced capture button ever on an iPhone.
„We’re really proud of it. It will totally change the way you take pictures with your phone.“

the only thing a phone must do is fit in a pocket and not be too wide to hold in the hand.
This is where we disagree. The focus shouldn't on HOLDING it in the hand, it should be on USING it in the hand.

It reminds me of a discussion I had in the Apple Store many years ago with an Apple employee when I was "complaining" about Apple making it so much harder to use one handed. So I said ok and gave him a couple of simple tasks to do. So he holds the iPhone in his one hand and then uses his other hand to start doing the tasks and I started laughing. He was confused by what one handed even meant. I said no, do it with one hand behind your back and he finally got it. Now since then Apple has absolutely improved some software things (including now with iOS18 coming where you can position apps/icons where you want better) but it is still a PITA and every time Apple makes it just a little bigger it makes it worse.

Some people, myself included, would rather they keep the same size screen but the physical device smaller so it is easier to use. How big is too big for you? Would you just carry an iPad instead if it had all the same camera/cell features? We all have our preferences of when a device has become too big and would prefer something smaller.

Edit: My hope/wish/dream is that by moving to 6.3/6.9 that it makes room for a "bigger than mini" but smaller iPhone 17/Pro at say 5.8/5.9". Basically a X/Xs/11Pro size screen in a modern and slimmer form factor.
So, if Apple actually cared about our wishes, they'd bombard us with 10 new phone models every year. Guess it's a good thing they ignore us, huh?

My question is bothering 40 w charging. Why the world do I want to even get a faster charger. I’m not a fan of android style that’s charging systems. Because the end Degeneration of your battery.
My OnePlus Open has 67w fast wired charging and my battery is still at 99% after almost a year. I've never had an issue with heavy battery degradation from 50w or better phone chargers.

I'm sticking with my 13PM, just replaced the battery. I mostly use it to play games and read websites. Longer battery life and improved cell reception would be primary drivers for me to upgrade along with better game rendering capabilities. I don't even really care about IOS improvements, it's really just a launcher for Apps. I snap some pictures here and there, but honestly, outside of low light photos, the cameras are good enough for my poor photography skills. I'm also completely not onboard with a "flip phone", instead of sitting nicely in my pocket, it will just be an awkward bulge from being at least twice as thick. That's not a good form factor tradeoff.

Really am curious about battery life for the iPhone 16 Pro. I would like it that the battery of the iPhone 16 Pro could last for over a day when it is used frequently during the day as a GPS and camera device, as I often do when I'm travelling for leisure and going about taking photos.

Similar thoughts for me.

I would like more zoom for the camera though AND much better battery life.

Looking forward the the event, I think there will be more ‘Haftware’ software features that require special hardware. (Not sure there is a phrase for this already), I think Apple will make this a core element of the iPhone going forward to drive hardware sales.

Ahh i see, not much of an upgrade for me. i’m sitting this one out.

I can’t wait to see the unboxing reviews! :)

I hope that both phones get the better main camera sensor. There is no excuse for 16 Pro to be using the same sensor three years in a row.

Let’s be Honest alright, the 15 series line up was was mediocre, disappointing, lame, BORING.
I guarantee that the next iphone will only come with 3 difference:
1) larger displays
2) a new button
3) “AI” integrated

Another Boring year ya’ll, so save the cash and skip, AGAIN.

Super excited to buy 5 16 Pro Max units!
