This is wild! MagSafe seems like a standard for Apple now.
Y’all confirmed. ☑️ This listing for the Apple official iPhone 16e silicone cases doesn’t mention MagSafe. Here’s the link:

Who in their right mind would even buy the 16e ?

The iPhone 16e is one of the most underrated iPhones, right next to the iPhone XR.

It’s a bummer that they decided to remove MagSafe and portrait mode from this phone. The XR had portrait mode, but it used on-device intelligence for it. I wonder if the 16e will do the same. Both are single lens and the Ceramic Shield is like the 12/13.

Since they added visual intelligence to the action button, they should do it on other existing Apple intelligence-capable devices like the 15 Pro.

Yes it will, android phone case manufacturers have been doing this for years now. It still works, there is still wireless charging coils in the phone. MagSafe is just magnets that place the item in the correct place and align it.
Objection: That’s precisely why I’ve seen cases being sold with MagSafe from third-party vendors for iPhone 11 and older models. However, you won’t be able to see the animations when the MagSafe accessory, charger, or power bank is attached.

The cases will have magnets inside them to enable attachment to compatible MagSafe accessories from the back.

all this debate on the 16e and none of us are getting it, right?

Therefore, the wireless charging capabilities are the same speed as the iPhone 8 to the iPhone SE 3 and the iPhone 11. They are comparable to the pre-MagSafe models. 👆🏻 MagSafe was initially designed to support up to 15W of charging power and later expanded to 25W in the iPhone 16 series.

The cases I mentioned earlier, such as ESR’s, are simply enhancements. A MagSafe battery pack is not compatible with charging, but third-party ones can be used on a case that has the magnets installed.

MagSafe technically is not just magnets for alignment though is it? It enables the support of fast wireless charging through magnets.

Yes wireless charging may still work but it’s technically not MagSafe.

You don’t get the animation on 3rd party cases anyway.

Yeah that might be true, but the functionality of using MagSafe will still be there if a case adds it. You can put a wallet on the back, you can charge (maybe just a slower rate), all the things that people use MagSafe for. But yes no wireless fast charging I guess.

What's the definition of MagSafe? Didn't know it was fast charging. When it first was released on the iPhone 12 series there was not fast wireless charging.
