Yeah that might be true, but the functionality of using MagSafe will still be there if a case adds it. You can put a wallet on the back, you can charge (maybe just a slower rate), all the things that people use MagSafe for. But yes no wireless fast charging I guess.

What's the definition of MagSafe? Didn't know it was fast charging. When it first was released on the iPhone 12 series there was not fast wireless charging.
In my opinion, wireless fast charging is the number one benefit of MagSafe.

Completely understand that, I don't use that because of the heat generated, but I do understand that is a benefit. But that does not make a phone MagSafe or not. MagSafe is literally the magnets in the back of phone so that wireless things can be aligned and connected and stay in place. There is no standard that Apple has set that the phone is required to have fast wireless charging for it to be called MagSafe. That was my only point.

You don’t get the animation on 3rd party cases anyway.
That’s how it works when you use MagSafe or magnetic cases on non-compatible iPhones like the iPhone 11 and older models. The iPhone 16e is the only newer iPhone, apart from the iPhone SE, that doesn’t have any MagSafe magnets inside it.

However, if you use MagSafe grips, wallets, chargers, or stands, you’ll need these magnetic third party cases or insert an adhesive magnet ring inside the case to hold it securely.

Fifteen watt fast wireless charging via MagSafe was available from day 1 on the iPhone 12. Without MagSafe, 7.5 watt was the maximum available for wireless charging.

From a transcript of the Apple Event for iPhone 12 on October 13, 2020:

The magnets are optimized for alignment and efficiency, and we improved our shielding design to safely provide up to 15 Watts for faster charging.

Yes, but even with say an iPhone 16 pro with MagSafe, if you put say a Ryan London leather case on the phone there is no MagSafe animation. That is only for Apple cases.

Belkin has a pretty good definition of MagSafe:

Especially note the section entitled:
"What’s the difference between“Made for MagSafe” and “MagSafe Compatible”?"

So my point stands. The 3rd party cases for the 16e can offer MagSafe, but the phone doesnt have the magnets in it. It won't be fast charging, but every other benefit of MagSafe is there.

The point is MagSafe is a phone technology. It's a registered Apple trademark with a rigorous definition. It's nice that there are cases with magnets that can provide MagSafe-like properties - but they're still not MagSafe.

Oh, I thought you meant animations for the MagSafe accessories! Nope, third-party cases don’t have a specific NFC tag inside them that triggers the animation, unlike the Apple cases. I have all my third-party cases for my 15 Pro, and they don’t do that. But my third-party MagSafe charger power bank does!

But that doesnt change the cases meet the Apple standard to be called MagSafe, so yes the phone does not have MagSafe, but the cases in fact do. They cannot claim MagSafe if they don't follow Apple's standard for it.

I am not and have said that the phones magically become MagSafe with a case that offers MagSafe. Simply saying that the case can in fact have MagSafe in it, and in turn the user can take advantage of many of the features that go along with MagSafe.

Apple has no standard for calling anything "MagSafe." It only has a standard for calling cases (and other accessories) "Made for MagSafe" (and placing such objects in the MFi database).

Gave up my search for a new case for 16 Pro and went with the stone gray apple silicone. Won't love it, but also won't hate it.
It's definitely a mixed bag, but more good than bad at this point. While I've enjoyed the Apple Clear case, it allows too much lint/dust in the sides so it ends up looking messy very quickly.

Got the Rinke Rugged at the suggestion of someone else. It's the new best I've tried. Getting closer to the feel of an otterbox at least, and I love the texture of the buttons on the case.

Returned the TineeOwl and the Spigen Ultra Hybrid T.

PR ugliest case ever 😁
There is some stiff competition for that award.
EDIT: Oh, unless you mean the Rebel6 among all PR cases only. Was thinking you meant among all cases period. Definitely like the PR but this is all immensely subjective of course.

I don’t know, I might have you beat. 😂

When will it be available to the public?
If past drops are anything to go by, and tee is getting his Tuesday or wedneday, im gonna put my money on it dropping tomorrow or Saturday. They like dropping stuff late in the week so people dont get all bent up about shipping taking forever since ya dont count the weekends. Just a guess tho lol
