Best I think you could hope for this late in the game is the hope that case makers are ready for the camera cutout on the 17 and have the cases ready the first week or so.

(iirc even when MagSafe showed up on the 12, you still had case makers not put it on the 13 cases. So it reallllly wouldn't surprise me if the next batch of cases still don't have the proper button lol)

Where are the iPhone CC button cases?

A new Synthesis with a clear back, are they talking about the iPhone cases here?

Ultra Paragon for the 16PM, I want in black

YMMV but it’s one of my absolute favorites this year. Love it.
With their horrible cutouts, Caudabe and Nomad are not even in the game this year.
Ngl that case is uniquely known for the rounded action button which that brand solely creates cases for the 15 pros and 16 pros only. These buttons you don’t have to accidentally press a volume button when reaching for the action button. If y’all are into plastic cases and polycarbonate stuff like that this is for you.

It’s a lot of good ratings and it has a minimalist, slim feel and very clean design.

And what is Samsung? Is that an another word for 💩 ?
I saw one once on the Facebook marketplace. Seems to be an entry level phone for grandmas.
Hey everyone! So, I know some of you have been critiquing Caudabe’s releases not being relevant to their cases for iPhone. But asides from bad takes , what are your thoughts on the phone rebel cases with the ring stand built in?

I’ve heard that you’re all excited about them! Apparently, they have customizable camera rings, buttons, and everything in between. They’re even more powerful and customisable than ESR, according to some. What do you think?

I did see incipio have cases with swappable buttons too.

Phone Rebel makes some nice cases but there have been some QC issues this year, specifically gaps at the charge port where the injection point is located. Mine also has a defective camera surround that has a gap on one corner between the metal and the TPU. So overall, yeah pretty nice cases, but there are some small details that need to be cleaned up for what is considered a “premium” case.

Yea it’s a small brand creating these cases so when it comes to mass production there can be some error in the manufacturing process.

None of the cases I use on my 15 pro has these issues in any way.

Large companies seem to have just as many issues. I can’t count how many Otterbox and UAG cases I’ve returned to Amazon over the years due to defects.

Honestly, I stopped using Otter Boxes or rugged cases. I had a diverbox case which was like an otter box defender on the iPhone XR which was the one before I got my 15 pro, and a dual layered black one from Miniso for the red iPhone 7.

I heard a few people who got Lifeproof Fre waterproof cases, which are the ultra-waterproof cases designed to surpass the water resistance of our iPhones. However, they found it difficult to remove their iPhones from the case to clean it. Some even had to go to Apple Store to get help pulling it off.

The diver box cases which are knockoffs of otter box has a coloured key that you stick in the slot and pop it out.

I detest how gross these thick rugged cases get and how many small crevices accumulate gunk on them. I’ve seen many iPhones and iPads end up looking like that.

Now, I have this iPhone and AirPods 3 in 1 cleaning brush that came with my newest, red AirPods case. I use it to clean keyboards, pick dried pieces of wood and grass out of the iPhone charging port, brush off nasty dust off AirPods and the back of my Apple Watch as well! I also keep screen cleaner bottles and numerous glasses cloths in my tech drawer.

Goldman, thanks for reminding me to get a waterproof pouch for my new 16 Pro Max. You mention how dirty a case like an OtterBox defender can get. Every few months with my OtterBoxes, they get removed and scrubbed with a disinfecting soap in the sink with a toothbrush. This waterproof pouch works to about 5 feet underwater for extended periods of time. I have been told, but have not tested it myself, that as long as you don't push the air out of the pouch, it will float. What I use them for is they are absolute proof against sweat, dirt, greasy hands, children's sticky hands, and getting wet in rain storms. etc. The screen works perfectly through the plastic, and the buttons work with some effort. You can hang the pouch around your neck. My 14 Pro Max in an OtterBox Defender case fit just fine and was easy to get out.

Is this the AirPod case you were talking about, Mhyaludo?

I have another suggestion for your maintenance stash. Caig DeOxit Gold. I have used it for many years to keep cable plugs working. With an iPhone as an example, put a tiny amount on the Lightning plug or USB-C (Thunderbolt) cable and insert it leaving it plugged in for a few minutes, and then pull it out, DeOxit Gold cleans and lubricates both the male and female sides of the Lightning and USB-C plug. Get the DeOxit Gold Needle dispenser. Just a tiny amount is all that is needed. This bottle will last for years.

The AirPods Pro 2 version is similar but lacks a gold carabiner and has a matching wrist strap. The cleaning tool uses hinges instead of sliding parts.

I bought mine for $4 from TJX, similar to the one you linked.

Mines is an MVMT brand that specializes in iPhone cases, power banks, and 1:1 replicas of Apple Watch sport bands. I also own a few straps and a clear AW S4-9 41mm case that I use for CNC machining class on Tuesdays. The case I have is for AirPods 1/2, but they also offer it for Pro, 3rd/4th gen AirPods. It has a thicker lightning port cover that won’t break over time, unlike my first AirPods case, the Rockindeer navy one from Amazon, which turned shiny and the charging cover broke after 6 months.

I’ve noticed these pouches everywhere in the store. They’ve got seals that you can buckle on along with the ziplocks when you use your iPhone in the pool, sailing in a boat, in the ocean or beach, or even in the tub. And guess what? Many of them are only $5 or less!

Now, I know a lot of my friends and family with iPhones used Otterboxes and multi-piece heavy-duty cases. When I help them install screen protectors and clean their iPhones, I can’t even imagine how much gross stuff stuck to the case, the iPhone, and the screen protector! They don’t switch cases every few weeks; it’s usually every few months or even years!

I have to use screen cleaner to clean the edges and surfaces of the case, the iPhone, and the screen protector. I even use the cleaning pen I got from the AirPods case to reach through tough spots. And don’t even get me started on the glasses cloths! I wash them once or twice a month or whenever they look really soiled up. That way, I can reuse them properly.

Oh, and I got super grossed out when I saw one of my coworkers in my previous job with NASA had gunk all over his iPhone 15PM blue tatty! I made him clean his iPhone 15 Pro Max by handing him a glasses cloth at work. And guess what? He had these two-piece built-in screen protector cases! The MagSafe magnet was also falling off.

I use glasses cloths that come with my glasses, and I even get the good ones for free from the opticians. I have bottles of screen cleaner in my dresser drawer, and the open bottle is next to my stash of glasses cloths. And the cleaning tool that came with my AirPods, along with my repair and cleaning tools, I keep on my desk. Oh, and I have a penlight that comes in handy when I use the sharp end of the cleaning tool to pick out debris and foreign objects from iPhone ports. Sometimes, it’s a pain to hold another iPhone with the torch 🔦 on to illuminate the area where I can see the debris in a charging port and the cleaning pick in another hand.

Hey there! That’s awesome! I heard about it too. I’m curious if IPA could damage computer components like chips or lightning ports. This one’s a different beast. I’ll look into it and see if any stores sell these cleaning supplies you linked above 👆🏻 . Thanks for the suggestion!

By the way, OtterBox cases can make it tough to put your iPhone in your pocket. They feel heavy, like a brick. Even the heaviest iPhone ever made, the iPhone 14 Pro Max, feels like a brick 🧱 like the Apple Watch Ultra, and it feels even heavier when it’s in an OtterBox Defender case. One of my supervisors from my previous job had an OtterBox Defender on his previous Space Black iPhone 14 Pro Max. When I did a NameDrop during a business trip, I held his iPhone 14 Pro Max in that case, and it was the heaviest iPhone I’ve ever felt. He recently got a 16 Pro Max and uses a slim case instead.

Now, I mostly use clear cases on my iPhone 15 Pro and will try out other slim cases like leather or silicone cases! Of course, I’ll also still use a screen protector. I had used polycarbonate snap in cases before, and the most ultimate protection I want in iPhone cases are only to have raised corners/lips all around it while keeping a slim profile, and high quality material! The Rifle Paper Co. ones have very high walls for the camera array on pro models, if you want to read more about it head to @Sal09 ’s 15 Pro case thread I primarily reside on!

I am very pleased with my latest OtterBox Defender case. I also like the extra protection and portability provided by this Stanley 1913 case (the Thermos bottle Stanley) there is a mini, and a maxi size I have both. I keep my FiiO BTR17 and IEM in the mini case.

Wait a minute Stanley makes crossbody bags? Or is that their tumbler holder bags?

Is the case slippery? How does it feel in the hand?

It’s not slippery at all, in my opinion. Just smudges, which all aramid cases do. They are not quite as noticeable though as they are on a black case.

My only knock on this case is the buttons rattle. I put thin tape inside under the buttons as a membrane, and it stopped.

Here’s the TineeOwl. Not much to see, a simple, well-made case, that is a slightly better version of the Sheath at less than half the price. No metal buttons, but better slit buttons than the Sheath ever had. A similar, but better texture in my opinion. The CC button is really easy to press, which I like but may require setting the button to double-click to open to prevent accidental activations. If you’ve been waiting for months for a Sheath with a CC button, I’d say just get one of these and save a few bucks. That’s assuming TineeOwl quality control isn’t an issue. Mine looks good, no obvious flaws so far.

Interesting. I'm finding that you have to sort of put pressure/leverage the lighting cable against the charging port for my wife's 13P to actually charge (verified with multiple cables). Think this would resolve that?

Oh, and I think I have some of this as a spray. Bought it for many, many needs after Helene f'd up just about everything we own(ed)!

Yes, the lightning cable is two-sided, but the jack is not. Caig DeoxIT Gold works very well to fix a problem with the jack. The Gold is sort of a light-duty cleaner lubricant. The heavy-duty version is Caig DeoxIT D100L. Any type of connector you have this stuff works on. the D100L is magical on automotive wiring. Don't use the spray you waste most of it. the needle and the brush applicator are the best.

I use the D100L on the contacts of batteries when I first install them. The lubricant helps with the installation, and the improved connection, no matter how small, is a good thing.

It is good to have both formulas on hand with these two dispensers.

The brush dispenser.
