Interesting rumors. I hope the display size increase, with smaller bezels like the 15Pro will mean that the iPhone itself "returns" to the 14Pro size but with bigger display and not that the whole phone gets bigger still.

Also, regarding the 8k video I imagine, based on Apple's history that it will pan out like this:

15 Pro - 8K capped at 30 fps
16 Pro - 8K at 60 fps
17 Pro - 8K stereoscopic (2 x 4 K) for the Vision Pro or its successor(s)

Also, 48 Mpx for the 0.5 lens? Why not for the zoom one? (I would much prefer it, I had a 200 mm 1.8 Sigma lens zoom which was AMAZING for portrait (stolen) and would really enjoy having something similar on a phone).

Ah yes, more buttons, as if it wasn't already awkward to press vol+ to take a picture but you take a screenshot instead because your thumb naturally rests on the sleep button. Unless that buttons moves back to the top where it belongs.

Where is the iPhone SEv2 size device? I need a normal size. Those big phones are too inconvenient for me to carry.

Apple adding 2 buttons to the iPhone over 2 years after a ten year period where they removed one button feels highly unlikely.

Also I don't feel there is a great place to put it. The bottom right in landscape mode makes the most sense for general photography/videography, but would trigger a ton of accidental presses when normally using the phone. Also so much video is done now in portrait, where the button would be ergonomically bad.

While the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are still around 11 months away from launching, there are already several rumors about the devices. Below, we have recapped new features and changes expected for the devices so far.

iPhone-16-Side-Feature.jpg

These are some of the key changes rumored for the iPhone 16 Pro models as of October 2023:
  • Larger displays: The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be equipped with larger 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays, respectively, according to Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants. The devices are expected to have taller aspect ratios as part of this change. By comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays, respectively.
  • Capture Button: Apple plans to include a new "Capture Button" on all iPhone 16 models, according to pre-production information obtained by MacRumors. The button would be located below the power button, but its purpose is unknown. It has been speculated that it could be a dedicated shutter button for the camera.
  • 48-megapixel Ultra Wide lens: The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature an upgraded 48-megapixel Ultra Wide camera lens for higher-resolution photos with more detail when shooting in 0.5× mode, according to Jeff Pu, a tech analyst at Hong Kong investment firm Haitong International Securities.
  • Wi-Fi 7 support: The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will also support Wi-Fi 7, according to Pu. This would enable the devices to send and receive data over the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands simultaneously, resulting in faster Wi-Fi speeds, lower latency, and more reliable connectivity. Wi-Fi 7 is expected to offer peak data transfer speeds of over 40 Gbps, a 4× increase over Wi-Fi 6E.
  • A18 Pro chip: Apple's next-generation A18 Pro chip is expected to be manufactured with TSMC's second-generation 3nm process, known as N3E.
  • 5G Advanced: iPhone 16 Pro models will be equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon X75 modem for faster and more power efficient 5G connectivity, according to Pu. The modem supports the "5G Advanced" standard, which has been described as "the next phase of 5G" and an "evolution towards 6G."
  • 5x optical zoom on Pro model: The iPhone 15 Pro Max's tetraprism lens system with 5x optical zoom will expand to both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, according to supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 16 Pro models in September 2024. Additional details about the devices should surface over the coming months, so be sure to keep tabs on our iPhone 16 roundup for the latest information.

All very nice, but nothing revolutionary, Apple needs to do something similar to Google with the group photos & magic eraser.
Personally I won't be upgrading my 13 Pro until all camera's are 48 pixels

I’m beginning to understand how iPhone mini users feel. The 6.1” display on my 14 Pro is about the limit of size and weight I’m willing and able to tolerate. If these display size rumours turn out to be true, I may need to buy a bunch of 15 Pros next year. It’s getting ridiculous now.
I agree, however, they will probably reduce the bezels again and the physical size will be the same as the 13 & 14 Pro's, whilst being lighter.
At least that's what I hope

Makes sense. I'd purchase one on the upgraded wide-angle camera alone.
I'd purchase one if I could do away with the flashlight and camera button on the screen. ***** Tim Apple. I don't want it. I have to cripple my iPhone's screen responsiveness to avoid them both going off all the time. If I want either I can swipe down from the right.

With the current bezels being as thin as they are, I'm not sure this is even possible. Rumours suggest the display might be taller. More finger gymnastics!

I know it’s early and rumors are thin at this point, but this would probably be the most lackluster iPhone update ever if these are all the updates. Currently I think the iPhone 14 takes the crown for worst update.

They literally changed a hardware shortcut before a software shortcut. Incredible.

WiFi 7 is not coming to the next iPhone 16. I wish MR would realize that Apple has been slow to adopt WiFi and cellular standards.

WiFi 7 is likely to come in 2025 with the iPhone 17 but may arrive as late as 2026 for the iPhone 18.
I am already on WiFi 9 :)
Most people don't upgrade WiFi hotspots just because there is new standard.\what ever we have works for most people.
I think WiFi, Cellular standards are just moving too fast.
no time for people to adopt new technology before they release new standard.
I barely have 5G coverage, we are already talking about 5G advanced.
i think these are all marketing gimmicks.

Seriously apple 6.1 is the highest I go and for me is already big , if you wanna make a bigger max phone do it but stop making the smaller pro phone bigger this makes no sense

Hopefully the move to 6.3" and 6.9" opens the door for a smaller pro model as well. I think 5.8" (the size of the original X and Xs screen) in an updated smaller body with smaller bezels would be perfect.
5.8 was the perfect pro size , 6.1 is big , I can’t believe they going bigger , make the max bigger for people that want it bigger but why touch the smaller version kinda like they wanna push customers to the SE model

Does anyone feel like 6.7 is the perfect size, I'm not sure we need a 6.9... might as well start getting an iPad mini at that point.
I think the 6.3 might be the perfect size. I don't like the 6.7, but a little more on the smaller screen will be nice. I think.

A bigger screen isn’t wanted or needed, per the feedback here. I agree.

I’m a lot more interested in the idea of using USB C to attach a full sized monitor to an iPhone. At some point the processing power in these devices will warrant treating them like full fledged desktop computers. The prospect of being able to use an iPhone as the “business end” of a computer with accessories that make it into a laptop or a desktop? That would RULE. It would also make the built in screen basically irrelevant.

Actually, a 6.9 inch screen is the ideal size for a so called phablet... especially for on the go power users.
