"allowing Apple to maintain differentiation between the two "Pro" devices next year."

Why in the world is this phrased as a positive?
It’s a positive for MacRumors because it allows them to write more articles, have more rumors, and more controversy engagement in the forums.

Bringing back the vertical camera layout does not seem to make sense when the reason they made it that way in iPhone 13 series and newer was the sensor shift stabilization...
It’s always a compromise. If they want to enable 3D video recording on the regular iPhone, they probably don’t have much of a choice.

FINALLY a better sensor for the ultra wide!
I love the look of the lens, but the pictures and video are quite bad, with lots of noise and artifact even with good lighting.

My 15 Pro Max is already so damn big without a case on–how is making it even larger a good thing? At that point, just get an iPad mini.
There is a big difference in the proposed 6.9” device and the 8.3” iPad Mini. I had the standard Pro for years and went to the 15 Pro Max and it definitely is not only completely manageable, but doesn’t even feel big anymore. I’d love the 6.9” phone rumored for next year.

Will wait for 17 mini then, or the SE2024 if it’s small enough. For screen estate I’ll use my iPad or 16” mbp. But maybe I’ll have to forget about my iPhone and switch to the Apple Watch?

You're trying to compare an iPad with an iPhone when they are using different aspect ratio...

iPhone - about 2:1 (no home button)
iPad - about 4:3

So if the 16 Pro Max does feature a super telephoto for better optical zoom does it remain at 5x? All of this is rumored of course but if many of these changes come to the 16 Pro Max/Ultra, that would prompt me to upgrade from my 15 Pro Max. I love the newer 5x zoom as far as distance I can get, but the quality goes to **** very quickly in less than optimal lighting.
I mentioned in another post a few weeks ago that if it goes beyond 5x, I wouldn’t buy. For the main cam will have to perform digital zoom from 1.01 to say 9.99.

Reading this article, I hope I was right, that Apple will introduce a 4th camera for the super zoom. :)

As for the changing of layout for the normal iPhone, I wonder whether it is to help the Vision Pro recordings. By then Vision Pro will be out and Apple would want all the iPhones to be able to record for Vision Pro, for better adoption rates.

I really love Samsung’s hardware. I played with an S23 Ultra at my cell provider the other day and was really impressed with the build quality, S pen, and display. They also had the Fold and I was shocked with how bad the crease is unfolded. That would never fly with Apple which is likely why Apple isn’t doing foldables. That crease is as obvious as a cracked display. Really cool concept and I applaud Samsung for pushing the tech but I don’t think it’s ready for a premium product yet.
Not to mention that my peers who are using it had issues. His fold was replaced twice within a year. And another’s flip’s laminate had bubbles in less than 6 months

Five few more that are rumored:

- 2TB storage option (could be exclusive to the Ultra mode, if there is such a model)
- Stacked CMOS Sensor for the main camera, most likely Sony IMX903 (2-Layer Transistor Pixel technology)
- Thunderbolt 3/4 40 Gbps data transfer speeds (could be exclusive to the Ultra model)
- 40W wired charging speed
- 20W MagSafe charging speed

The next gen iPhone is useless to me if it can't multitask similarly to the iPad or other phone brands. I want the ability to have 2 apps open at the same time. What's the point of all that power and innovation if it can only focus on 1 task at a time. If I'm downloading a Spotify playlist or tv/movies for offline viewing in another app I have to keep it in focus otherwise iOS suspends it.

Its also crazy that the apps that do support PIP can only lock to the left or right sides of the screen. The interface should allow you to to place it anywhere incase it covers something.

I’ve got just the phone. And the best part, it already exists to fit your list. Introducing the iPhone SE 2022!
I'm holding out for the next one, and if if is also a let-down, I will just maintain my Xs as long as I can.

To be honest, something like the Xperia Mark Series would be perfect. Super slim bezels, no notch, a headphone jack? I love my iPad 7th gen way more than my Xs, but I can't exactly fit the iPad in my pocket.

If Apple lets me watch my purchased iTunes movies on Android (properly, not through Movies Anywhere), I will probably be done with iPhone.

iPhone 16 Ultra with no ports? I guess you will have to transfer your 4K (or 8K) 60fps ProRes video over your fancy new WiFi 7 router you will also have to buy. And if you are out in the field, tough luck. I would see a Thunderbolt port as a more likely addition. Recording 4K ProRes to an external USB-C SSD is one of the coolest new features of the iPhone 15. So much better than those files going into your photos library.

ProMotion/120Hz is definitely overdue. I don’t know if the 16 will get it or not, but like I said, it’s overdue. Also I think it’s time for a visual change with the camera cluster on the 16 Pro/Pro Max.
I'm not sold on the camera changes rumor just yet, but we'll know soon enough)

At the current s rate the iphone is becoming stale & bland. The iphone 16 pro or ultra or whateva needs an overhaul both in terms of design and software.

Not an overhyped gimmick that Apple keeps throwing at us: (2022) Dynamic island (2023) action button (2024) capture button !!!!!
