I mentioned in another post a few weeks ago that if it goes beyond 5x, I wouldn’t buy. For the main cam will have to perform digital zoom from 1.01 to say 9.99.

Reading this article, I hope I was right, that Apple will introduce a 4th camera for the super zoom. :)

As for the changing of layout for the normal iPhone, I wonder whether it is to help the Vision Pro recordings. By then Vision Pro will be out and Apple would want all the iPhones to be able to record for Vision Pro, for better adoption rates.
Oh yeah, you're right. I completely missed adding a 4th camera. That'd be great.

What I really want to know is if the base model iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 plus will have 8GB of RAM?

With so many new features, the iPhone 16 could be one to skip. I'll wait for Apple to knock out all the kinks, and get the refined model: iPhone 17.
You can always skip a model year or two. The problem for me is that the modern iPhone Pros have, for me, seen compelling improvements every year. So I keep buying them. ;~)

Be great to have some really NEW functionality, like an Apple Pencil.
Oh hell yes. Please please please give iPhone Pros a pencil. Even moved to Pro Max size, my fat fingers and aging eyes would love a pencil. Plus I found it a PITA to carry an iPad just for sketching and image markup.

I would willingly carry the pencil in a separate case in my pocket. I bought one and tested it out and it is easy enough.

Maybe the Super Ultra Pro Platinum edition will finally offer audible notifications of missed calls. You know... like other cell phone have had since the '90s.

I too would like the Dynamic Island to become software only, but I think that’s still a few years away.

Really looking forward to seeing what they do with the cameras, a 300+mm lens on a phone would be EPIC.

Will be interesting to see the Capture button. 48 mega pixel ultra wide angle camera will also be nice to have. Not so sure whether 16 Pro Max will have an increased zoom.

Nothing too interesting so far. In my opinion, the “solid-state button” is even a disadvantage for the user. This is another cost-saving measure by Apple that is of no use to the majority of users. Save costs, not to make the iPhone more affordable, of course, but to again make more money.

I realize Qi charging is horribly inefficient, but I see plenty of articles reporting that reverse wireless Qi charging exists since the iPhone 12 and other articles reporting that it is still in the works.

I cannot find an option on my iPhone 13 Pro to enable reverse Qi charging. Is this still something that is in the works? Or is Apple too concerned over the potential thermal issues and complaints when users leave it enabled?

I’m not sure where you read that. No iPhone supports reverse wireless charging.

Apple’s big innovation just this year was to let you plug your AirPods or watch into the USB port to charge.

At the current s rate the iphone is becoming stale & bland. The iphone 16 pro or ultra or whateva needs an overhaul both in terms of design and software.

Not an overhyped gimmick that Apple keeps throwing at us: (2022) Dynamic island (2023) action button (2024) capture button !!!!!
While I agree with your overall point, I think hardware is relatively unexciting year to year with everyone. Adding a fourth super telephoto would be a nice hardware change. No notch/FaceID module would be the only exciting design change at this point. The iPhone bezels are super thin now on the 15 Pros and the new construction is a welcome
For both weight and feel in hand. Not sure what else other than a serious design overhaul of iOS.

There is a big difference in the proposed 6.9” device and the 8.3” iPad Mini. I had the standard Pro for years and went to the 15 Pro Max and it definitely is not only completely manageable, but doesn’t even feel big anymore. I’d love the 6.9” phone rumored for next year.
I think you issued the OP’s point.

The iPhones have evolved to be great devices; superb even. No exciting design changes needed or wanted by me. Just keep evolving.

Ok, these rumors made me skip 15 pro max, will stay on 14 pro and wait for 16 pro max/ultra.

Silly child. As a user I find that the 15 PM absolutely rocks.
I'm happy for you, kid, but as a 14PM user I saw less reason to upgrade this year than ever before, and I had the original iPhone. I'm not saying you shouldn't enjoy it, but as a model it is quite questionable given all of the grief it has already given people.

Nah. With millions of 15s sold, the "all of the grief it has already given people" that you claim is simply internet noise. The lighter 15 PM is in reality an excellent upgrade. And the 16 rumors sound good too. We will see in 10 months.

Sooner or later, an upstart will come along with something truly fresh and new that will make everything else seem old and obsolete.

And Apple will be Blackberry'ed

Yes, as opposed to just a few hundred of different iPhones that were sold... iPhones sell well every year and you know it. I went to the store when it came out, picked it up and didn't get the wow factor, which I often do when picking up a new iPhone. The color options are meh, the upgrades over the 14 series are, in my opinion — minimal. I recognize that some people really wanted usb-c, or the 5x zoom, but this is where I'm being subjective because I couldn't care less about these. I am looking forward to the 16 though.
