Crazy how many articles have been written about one extra button.
yeah there's a lot of repetition.. but still better than the 8gb ram ones that macrumors is capitalizing so heavily on for page views resulting from back and forth arguments.

I hate it I want the normal ringer switch back I never know if my phone is in silent mode
I agree. Perhaps they could have spent years and years on research and had both the mechanical ringer switch and an Action button. Perhaps this is too groundbreaking to consider.

The thing I don't like about the action button is it sits too high to be used conveniently while the phone is in the palm of my hand. It should be relocated below the volume buttons.

I use the action button all the time, to mute the phone, the same thing that the old button did. Perhaps, if it was multifunctional, as opposed to only being able to assign one thing at a time, it would be more useful.

You do not even have an Action Button, but you call it "Meh" because you failed to take advantage of earlier iPhone features?

I have an Action Button on the 15iPM, and IMO it is useful. YMMV, but at least use it first...
I’m saying newer features in general are not being taken advantage of to encourage people to upgrade.

AOD
Live activities
Action button
Dynamic Island

If Apple doubled down on these and encouraged more third party use it could be a real reason to push people to upgrade to newer phones. But since the features have remained largely unused- a 13 pro and below if your an average user; doesn’t see much difference or reason in terms of the “new” features in how the phone looks and operates

They gotta double down on this new stuff. Some of it feels half baked.

I'm definitely using it as a mute switch but that's mostly because I haven't tried using it for something else. Initially I thought the action button was going to be where taking photos would be moved to but thank goodness the volume up button is still good for that.
IMO the button needed to be centered on the phone, or at least not at an extremity, in order to be good as a shutter button. Trying to push it requires too much force on that end of the phone and makes you wobble your hand.

I would like to see the next iPhone support the Apple Pencil

Such a nightmare Apple has been focusing on useless features. First the Dynamic island which app developers have not embraced. Now its buttons with the action & capture buttons.

How about Apple redesigns an aging design. Such as embracing a foldable design, opening the possibilities for larger displays with less curb in our pockets, and introducing new ways we interact with our phones.

I am currently using a iphone 12 pro max, and will more than likely upgrade to the 16 pro max, as i am now having issues with my phone.

But without a revamp the iphone is starting to become more boring year by year.

“the updated Action button will feature a force sensor”

Is there a way to learn the usefulness of this button?

Not from a Genious.

Like the action button on my 15 Pro Max. Will be good to have it across all iPhone 16 models.

Dynamic island and live activities is to the iPhone what the Touch Bar was for the MacBook Pro.
What’s wrong with Live activities? I use it for street parking and charging my car. Very convenient.
