They might as welk have removed wireless charging altogether saving them 3€ on the parts and 30€ for the consumer considering it's basically useless without the auto alignment MagSafe offers. I also only started using wireless charging with the iPhone 13 - my first MagSafe iPhone, same with people around me

Old chip/less RAM with no Apple intelligence support means the iPhone 15 is only the better deal if you only want it for a year or two.
Yeah but it has a much better camera setup, brighter display, Dynamic Island, MagSafe, and its $100 cheaper... Also at the rate they are dropping iPhones for iOS support and how badly received apple intelligence has been. I expect the A16 to be around for quite some time.

Can't have it all at this price point. If the checklist to get to the price point is:

1. OLED
2. Dynamic Island
3. Apple-built modem
4. MagSafe
5. A18

... I would probably drop #2 & #4 as well. I suppose you could switch OLED for LCD but that would get even more complaints.

Yay! I have a relative hanging onto an iPhone 11 because they are concerned about MagSafe interfering with their pacemaker. Some Medtronic representative convinced them it was an issue.

Assuming a case supplier could make a case with magnets in the right position and then the phone could work with MagSafe chargers? Perhaps not at the fastest charge speeds, but MagSafe chargers are Qi compatible, right?

Yes, I currently do just that with my work-provided SE 2022.

I was just noticing it was not mentioned on the Apple product page, interesting choice. Save that money I guess.
There’s a not insignificant number of people that “never use that wireless crap anyway”. If they feel THAT strongly about it, this is their phone. If not, I believe Apple sells a couple other models…

Oh, it’s still wireless, just no magnets. I’m sure there are folks against magnets, too, tho. LOL

Silly move for a phone that will undoubtably be marketed as a gateway to iOS from Android. Qi2 is going to be standard soon on mid-level Android phones. And what's baffling is that Apple pretty much gave MagSafe to to Qi for the Qi2 standard. Apple's usual strategy is to upsell and that has worked for other devices. I won't be surprised if that backfires here. Apple overplayed its hand here. It's like they learned nothing from the iPhone Mini 12 debacle -- a good phone but too expensive for its feature set.

This is just such an unforced error.
Sharing chargers and other infrastructure is among the things that keep my household Apple-only. Now Apple has donated the standard and cheap Android phones will come with QI2 this years, but this new iPhone won't?

I could live without it, just strange to remove it from a portion of the MagSafe accessory market.
