Used them both, Sheath is my current daily and i returned the mous. Mous has too many QC issues such as bowing on the frame, sharp corners and it makes the phone very boxy. Sheath is refined and handles much better. Its also protective and even covers the plateau.
Thanks this is really helpful, now which sheath to get for a cosmic orange. Black seems sophisticated yet boring 🤔

I have the Pro. The Sheath weighs 14g more than the Apple Silicone.

When I first got the Sheath I was switching between the Apple Silicone because of the weight. Then one day I said f it, I’m going to run the Sheath no matter what. Then I got used to the weight. Now it’s no problem.

IMO the Sheath aligns second best when it comes to form factor. Curved smooth edges to the back, not boxy.

Here’s the specs of the Sheath and Apple Silicone. As you see the only difference is the depth.

Sheath
153.6 x 75.9 x 13
44g

Apple silicone
154.4 x 76.5 x 12.1
30g
Thanks Macher, super helpful. I was worried the Sheath would be much heavier but seems most of the options I was considering, mous, Dbrand grip, rebel all are there or thereabouts in terms of weight.

Well to be honest from my experience, if you’re coming from the likes of the Apple Silicone, the Sheath initially is going to feel heavy AF. I do think the Sheath is heavier than it should be when the spec measurements are almost the same as the Apple Silicone. But I have the confidence that my iPhone is protected way more than with the Apple Silicone.

I hear you to be fair my 13 mini with the sheath also felt heavy AF initially

Tempted to try dbrand Grip, but not sure if I should…

Looks like it’s very protective, however I’m worried about thickness and weight :(

There’s a good Black Friday deal right now and I can get Prism 2.0 screen protectors with 50% off as well.

@blaine07 said the sides are chunky.

But you also have to consider how much protection you want.

Did you get a separate tracking email when it shipped or only the order confirmed email?
Got a tracking email also.

The new buttons make this case almost perfect.
I'd like a little more screen lip, better bottom speaker and mic cutout alignment and it'd be probably the best case for me out there.

Just a shame it takes them a while after phone launch to get them out and then iron out, the now traditional, early faults.

The Sheath and Tank are all I need with the Enzo close behind. The black with orange lens showing through and matching buttons is a fantastic look I'm enjoying this year.

Benks just didn't get the ArmorPro right this time with the poor fit, especially at the top. Two I had actually separated to show a small rectangle, double sided piece of tape holding (or more precisely NOT holding) the TPU to the metal plateau ring.

You’d like more screen lip with the Sheath? IMO has enough, would even like to have very little less.

With the OrigArmor screen protector on there's about 0.5mm of a lip. Not enough for me.
That's the thing with cases though, it's hard to find the one perfect case for your own personal needs. Hence us nutters buying multiple cases looking for that Holy Grail.

What is currently the best case for the 17 Pro Max in terms of offering good protection and feeling comfortable to hold?
I know people recommend the Sheath, but I don't like the sandpaper like feel the case has. Feel like the case scratches my hands...

My perfect case would be a cross between the Apple Silicone and Sheath without the silicone with same Sheath texture. But want an in between of protection.

You’re basically describing the Sheath of old. It was this exactly, in my opinion.

Edit: Sorry. Was too quick to say this and didn’t realize someone else already did.
