Ram, (since apple loves to gatekeep that as well). will probably put a "lesser" chip in (like with less cores). If they do this, other than the cameras, I wonder how they will differentiate the standard from the pro models going forward. Especially since they set the precedent of using (essentially) the same processor on the standard and pro models.
First time I sit down = folding phone.I'm pretty sure the Air is going to be a folding phone. $1299 price tag for a single camera and an ultra-thin and light design? Sounds like a folding phone to me!
It's starting to feel like that isn't it.16 models are the "transition" ones
UltraMotion ~ 240hz?So what will Apple add to the Pro and Pro Max phones to keep them special? More memory? Camera improvements? Those seem a bit geeky with limited general consumer appeal.
Perhaps something with the notch? Apple Pencil compatibility? Split screen multi tasking?
If you were to ask a typical iPhone user about their screens refresh rate, very very few would know or care. Higher refresh capability is nice and the tech has matured to be on lower end devices. But it’s far from a critical feature for most people. Most people don’t even know.
What should the price of a 60hz base iPhone be to make it a fair deal?Imo the iPhone 14 should've been the last iPhone to feature a 60Hz panel. Not because everyone absolutely needs it, but because the starting price of these phones is way too high for them to still come with 60Hz panels.
"ProMotion" is Apple's branding, not MR's. If MR decided to stop calling it that and use different phrases, that's going to lead to reader confusion. Especially when people read about a product release elsewhere that describes a device as having a ProMotion screen, but they come to MR and they call it something different.Exactly. At least the websites like MR should do it. Just name 120 Hz and ProMotion as separate things. Like ProMotion can do VRR to 1 Hz or something and the display also has a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz. Associating 120 Hz with “Pro” has been dumb for years.
Here's one opinion: I will NEVER go back to a flip phone. End of story.I never see the masses using them. Very rare when I do see someone with one.
If you were to ask a typical iPhone user about virtually most of the technology in the iPhone they wouldn't know or care but this doesn't mean that it shouldn't be present. You mention it's not a critical feature, that is totally irrelevant, critical or not people knowing or not.If you were to ask a typical iPhone user about their screens refresh rate, very very few would know or care. Higher refresh capability is nice and the tech has matured to be on lower end devices. But it’s far from a critical feature for most people. Most people don’t even know.
Pro-motion is 120hz Variable Refresh rate so it adapts to what you are viewing and adjusts the refresh rate to save battery e.g if your looking at static text then it drops to almost 1 hz.In addition to an iPhone, I have an Android phone with a 120Hz screen. Funny that it is (by OS default) set to 60Hz, and when you want to switch it to the higher refresh rate, you have to click through a warning that it will cut back on battery life.
Really looking forward to Apple switching to 120 (if the above rumor is true), and hearing the new complaints being about how long the battery lasts 🤣
That’s one thing people forget about is refresh rate isn’t the only spec for a display. Cheap android phones might have 120 Hz displays but they look much worse than the iPhone 60 Hz displayPro-motion is 120hz Variable Refresh rate so it adapts to what you are viewing and adjusts the refresh rate to save battery e.g if your looking at static text then it drops to almost 1 hz.
On the lower end Android phones (like my dads £180 One Plus Nord) they have Fixed 120 hz screens so always refreshing at 120 hz no matter what you are doing, and so this consumes more battery power. The mid range Android phones and above do have screens similar to Promotion though, which saves battery power.
But is it going to be a triple fold though?I'm pretty sure the Air is going to be a folding phone. $1299 price tag for a single camera and an ultra-thin and light design? Sounds like a folding phone to me!
Lololol. An Apple folding phone is going to cost WAY more than that.I'm pretty sure the Air is going to be a folding phone. $1299 price tag for a single camera and an ultra-thin and light design? Sounds like a folding phone to me!
