I also don't understand why people think there are folks walking around with OC12's in their pockets in europe and asia, pulling data from an unlimited bucket of happiness that costs 10 USD/month. Thats not the case. European voice and data services are expensive and metered. asian services are on par with american systems using the CDMA EVDO glory.

Here in Finland I can get flatrate 3G (512kbs) for 15€ / month. (2MB goes for 30€)
Of course I have to add voice and SMS over that but they are not actually quite expensive.

For lighter usage one get 20MBytes/month rated EDGE (enaugh for email and light surfing) for 4€.

Typical rate for voice and SMS is 0.06€/min or message.
