iPhone 3G Launches, Photos, Unboxing [Updated]

working fine for me, too.. but cant wait to take a closer look at the web interface.. had it for about 2 minutes.. damn.. -.-
Hopefully the plastic is not the same kind used on the WD Passports
The WD passport white and black drives seem to have that same glossy plastic finish as the iPhone. I hope and pray that Apple found better plastic then Western Digital did. My white passport drive looks awful after about 6 months of being in my backpack. Then again, it's just been kinda roaming around in there, without a case.
Anyone else with passports notice how easy the white gets scratched and scuffed up?

Got mine and loving it.
Haven't been able to play much whilst at work but can't stop smiling.
Was surprised how tight stocks were. I was at the store at 5am for a 7am launch and in the first group in and first out an hour later (its now 4pm here). The store only had 24 phones allocated (it was a store in the suburbs) and only a handful of 16gb and we got all the 16gb's in the first group so the rest got the 8gbs.
The carrier had taken deposits for 85,000 units and its rumored only 35,000 were allocated to them and about 45,000 for the country (Australia).
I predict Saturdays headline to read....iPhone sold out worldwide in first day, over 1 million phones sold...........You got to love the Apple marketing machine, they milk it for all its worth.

Yes if you hair is white...I mean blonde..........lol
the design... i am talking about the design only, nothing hardware related. i think they have reach a point that they could not redesign the phone much. limitation based on the hardware. also... the display. there is not way they would go for a smaller design. i don't see that happen for another two years. the phone might get a little bit thinner... still, they have reached a point that they couldn't do much about it.

I think if you pair a white macbook and a black iphone it will contrast too much. A little contrast is good, but not in season anymore. Matching color shades is where its at now.

Oh and great question, its good to know people are thinking about things n a deeper level.
I was all fired up to get in the queue this morning, but when a number of o2 stores confirmed that there would be no white iPhones in the country I felt I should probably just sleep.
Does anyone know of any countries other than the UK who aren't getting white iPhones on the 11th July launch? I have read the silly rumour about us not getting them because we unlocked so many but that sounds petty.
Any more realistic reasons why we are being shafted today?

You will notice if you look at the new unboxing photos, the protective plastic on the white iphone is far less notable then the black one. For that reason, I say if you're going to go with one of the fancy clear new skins that is on the market rather then a case, the white is definately for you. If you're going with a case, who cares, no one will see the color.

Harrogate 02 shop.
Half a million people live with 5 miles of this shop. Guess how many they got....
14 16 gig models, 40 8 gig ones.
The queue was nearly 40 strong when I got there. Didn't want an 8 gig one. Only losers would want one

I just got my iPhone about an hour ago after waiting in line all day. I originally wanted black but honestly the white is oh so sexy!!!
my white one was dead on arrival (bad battery, possibly). Had waited 4 hours for that one. When I took it back to the shop, they were out of the 16gb version. Now I have an 8gb iPhone
Nice but where is the firmware update ???
Still waiting for that firmware update for my iPod Touch, can't get the 1.6 version anymore, and I'm going on a trip soon, would be nice if I can get the firmware upgrade installed and working before I set off next week ....

Got to the 02 shop (Swansea, Wales) at 7:25am this morning, about 15 people infront of me. Looked across at CPW and the queue was only at 3 people.. I resisted the urge to swap queues just because 02 have always been better.
Doors opened at 8:02am and the first 6 people walked in.... 1 hour later and 3 people are coming out
Apparently the system had died, so they had to do it all manually.. anyway, someone infront of me asked if there was enough stock, to which the meet-n-greet girl replied "plenty for everyone".
I jokingly said "...yeah, 8 Gigs maybe" to which the guys infront of me chuckled.
Someone from CPW comes over (a customer) and says they only had 3 or 4 16GB models when the doors opened at 8, because they'd reserved so many for collection... they were now sold out.
Anyway, 9am rolls around and I'm standing in the doorway to the 02 shop.. the 2 guys infront of me went in to play with the test models while the tills were finishing their transaction.. uh oh... that meet-n-greet girl is back.
"Who wants a 16 gig?" she asks..
Myself and the majority of people behind me put their hand up..
"Well.. thing is, someone has changed their mind and gone with a 16 gig, so there's none left"
I couldn't believe it.. I was stood in the doorway for an hour and cool as a cucumber they come out and say "oh, but you can still order the 8 gig"
