Harrogate 02 shop.

Half a million people live with 5 miles of this shop. Guess how many they got....

14 16 gig models, 40 8 gig ones.

The queue was nearly 40 strong when I got there. Didn't want an 8 gig one. Only losers would want one ;)

The O2 launch of the iPhone 3G has now lurched from debacle to utter farce!!!

Went past it at 8.15 and couldn't believe the queue!

Just goes to show you though, the improved features and realistic pricing has made this an essential purchase now, as opposed to 12 months ago -well done to both Apple and O2.

Just a shame you cocked up the whole ordering/supplies process, but in a few weeks that will all be forgotten...

Could i unlock my iPhone

Pretty much same story as above in Worthing. I was 10th in the queue at 5.40am!!! By 8 there were 52 people. The first 2 people went through really quick, probably coz they opened at 7.58am(!), after that the whole system ground to holt.

I did mine on paper, went and had coffee and came back an hour later and the system went straight through.

HOWEVER, in their hurry to get things processed I just realised I've signed nothing! My Direct Debit copy is here in front of me and it has no confirmation sig, all i've done is pay the £159 for the 16gb phone.

What to do...???

Got this text from O2 today.

The precious is mine.

First in line at the Guildford store. Got there at 5AM, and by god I am now knackered. Joined by a nice group within 30 mins. Typically the branch manager was a wally. Separated the queue into 16GB and 8GB wanters. Totally ruined the queuing, but defended my position with my life.

Just going to install iPhone 2.0 on 1st gen, and then setup the 3G precious.

Mmmm... precious.

Not Happy!!!

I queued for an hour this morning outside the O2 shop in Maghull, Merseyside, 8th in the queue, only to find they only had 4 (yes 4) 16GB iPhones. the first 4 people got them.

Come away empty handed.

I've got a 16GB Touch so 8gb will not be enough for me. wasnt going to buy one just for the sake of it

Just got mine!

Having queued for 5 hours outside o2 shop near Southampton managed to get my hands on 1 of the 5 16GB iPhones they had, they also had 15 8GB models.

The remote iTunes function is soooo cool!

I am going to Bluewater today so lets hope they have demo models I can play with in the Apple Store, if they do I will make a video for you lot.

Bloody work. Shift started at 7:30 am today, so no chance for me. Presumably until (as O2 phrased it...)"Late Summer"

You'd think they didn't want my money.

if I'd just got up an hour earlier for the Harrogate queue I'd most likely have got one. But 14 units of the 16 gb that they got is beginning to look quite generous if 4/5 unite seem to the average.

Mind you that might be because the staff didn't snaffle away as many for themselves or friends which is likely the real reason most O2 shops seem to only 'have' about 5.

I Got it

Got mine 16 gig. Second in queue from 5.40 am in Aberdeen Union Street. Only 10 16 gig where available. Queue of 50 people. I spent 1 hour to get it sorted because O2 didn't learn lesson from monday and system crashed again.
Good luck.
:D:D:D

O2. Oh Dear Oh Dear Oh Dear

Just back from the global flagship store in Regent Street.

Waited for 4 hours (about number 30 in the queue) only to be told that O2 could simply not process the contract checks. Left with nothing.

Surely someone at O2 should be publicly fired for this. Shocking. The worlds (or at least the UK's media were there in force) and as a sharehold I am amazed at the potential negative press this might have generated.

While we were there 1 person managed to get through the process.

So on one hand we have a shop with so many iphones that they can't sell, and the other shops that can sell with not enough.

Farce is the word that strings to mind.

Apple Regent Street - 5 phones sold in 3 and a half hours

Just in from the London Regent Street Apple Store too - when I left at about 11.30 they had apparently only sold 5 phones since opening at 8.

The entire O2 contract and credit checking system appeared to have collapsed ... loads of Apple Store staff sitting at computers waiting to process contracts but not able to do anything. People were being asked to leave their name and phone number and they would be called when the system was up and running (to the store staff's credit they were being as helpful and patient as they possibly could be).

What a mess ...

O2 don't know the first and most important rule in I.T.

Which was told to me 15 years ago from a friend of mine that had ten years experience at the time...

"If you think your system has enough capicity for your needs... double it right away because you will get screwed."

If that mess really was the case at the Regent Street flagship store, someone at O2 is going to get a very uncomfortable call from Mr. Jobs....

just called O2 in York. They seem very hopeful that more 16 gb's will arrive middle of next week. But they've been told that the White ones won't be here in the UK for a couple of months.

Think I'll wait till I get a chance to check out the White one before I get one. Bit of luck there might be a White 32 gb one out by then.

Termination of contract ?

The situation was dreadful (in a retail sense). Just think about the lost takings during that time. The quesue was there but not browsing or buying and I am sure even when the store opened for proper (at 10am) there was a restriction on what was happening.

I would guess that this is grounds for termination of contract between Apple and O2, something that Apple may now want - as they can then push the device across the 4 major players. Forget O2 and the money they paid and sell devices of the shelves.

hey folks,

i wanna know that are you guys just buy the iphone and go in apple retail store ???

i heard some threads that it ( iphones )needs to activate in apple retail store first .... then leave. is it true ???

and i wanna know , does iphone available in C.A apple store ???

I went over to my local AT&T store at 9:00...saw a line of 40+ people. Turned my car right around. There is no way I'm going to wait in line for two hours for a damn phone. I'll just get it next week.
