pretty sure you can drop your contract price to a lower tariff on any o2 contract after 9 months on an 18 month contract? anyone correct me on that?

I just had a dig through the terms and conditions and found this which confirms what you thought:

Pay monthly tariff terms (July 2008) including iPhone 3G

Consumer Pay Monthly Tariff Terms

......After connecting or upgrading to a minimum term contract, you’re unable to move to a lower priced Pay Monthly tariff for 9 months unless otherwise stated. After 9 months you can change tariff a maximum of once per month, provided that if moving down a tariff you can only move to the next lowest priced tariff with the same minimum term.

officially you will have to buy a bolt on. In os3.0 if you go to set up tethering it sends you to a (as yet inactive) o2 web page to sign up to tethering. Looking around the forums, including this one, there are workarounds. These are,I expect, against the T&Cs of the o2 contract.

hmm thats a bit crap, can the bolt on be activated for just 1 month or is it tied into the length of contract?

I have heard a rumour:

That O2 may be dropping the iphone as they have just got exclusivity to the new Palm something or other and that Vodafone are taking up the iphone.

As I said, its just a rumour.

Incidentally, I'm probably going to wait for the next iphone - I was kind of hoping for more of a change, slightly different design, colour option - maybe next year.

O2 do have the Palm Pre contract, but there is no announced GSM version never mind a release date, also I don't think O2 will drop Apple any time soon.

Not a bad price.

Was it unlocked or Jailbroken?

What condition was it in and how old was it if you don't mind me asking?

Not unlocked or jailbroken, it was only a week old as i got a new one through my insurance (dropped my old one).

would you guys say £240-£260 for a new warranty replacement 8GB 3G a good price?

If it's sealed in a box as new then you may get more.

The best thing to do is have a look on eBay to find similar iPhones, watch them, and when the auctions are finished you'll get a good idea of value.

The phone itself is still shrink wrapped but the box has been partially opened

I've put it on ebay but people seem to be taking the piss asking for £185 etc

Pic for description below. I've put it on ebay but people seem to be taking the piss asking for £185 etc
£185 is way too low, you can get £191 just by trading in the handset alone with mobilephonexchange.com:

http://www.mobilephonexchange.co.uk/search.aspx?m=2845&s=Apple iPhone 3G 8GB

Do you have a link. I'll take a look and see if I can come up with any suggestions. I sold quite a few unlocked 2G models in early 2008 so I have some experience. :)

SIMPLICITY

So Web Bold On is in effect the same thing as having unlimited internet data plan they offer with the normal iphone contracts?

But say if i call america number.....or if i text someone in america.......this is not included in my allowance is it? But how would i get charged? And how would i pay the excess?

So when you save youre voicemail........where is it stored? on your phone? or on some 02 server? And how do you retrieve old voice mails?

Can i use the simplicity new phone number for several months....and THEN transfer my current PAC number over??

Yes.

Such calls are not included in your allowance and will be charged to your account each month you make them. The money will be deducted by Direct Debit from your nominated bank account.

So when you save youre voicemail........where is it stored? on your phone? or on some 02 server? And how do you retrieve old voice mails?

Your voicemail is stored on the iPhone and also on O2 servers as far as I know. You retrieve Voicemail by dialling 901 on O2.

I have answered this question for you earlier this evening: You must get a PAC code before the contract on which you use the telephone number expires. The PAC code lasts for only 30 days, so the answer to your question is no, unless you keep up your contract with 3.

Here...any help would be appreciated

Hi daneoni, your ad looks fine to me. It's very early days as you still have almost 6 days left so there is nothing for you to worry about.

The interest will build as the days tick by and you may only see the price rising properly in the last few hours.

You did the right thing starting at 99p. That's what I do and it always stimulates far more interest than a high starting bid which can result in no-one at all bidding on the item!

Relax and watch it rise, but keep an eye out for those scammers!

Good luck with it! :)

read and save
http://www.allaboutiphone.net/2009/0...3g-s-on-o2-uk/

EXAMPLE

instead of regular 18 months @ 34.26
and paying £185 for handset
(total of £802)

DO THIS:

sign up for 18 months @ 44.05
-first 9 at 44.05 will cost 396
-total for last 9 will be 308 @ 34.26
handset will only be £87 as you signed up for 44.05

o2s terms and conditions states after 9 months in contract you can drop your tariff by one level (e.g. 44.05-34.26) each month.

the above saves you about £11, and you get double mins for first 9 months of contract
PLUS the initial payment will only be £100 less

It works because 44.05 for me is a hell of a lot, so in first 9 months i can enjoy lots of calls
and texts. in last 9 i downgrade one tariff, 34.26 which i know will be more than enough
for my needs.

CD36 = thankyou.

Sorry this last question

"You must get a PAC code before the contract on which you use the telephone number expires. The PAC code lasts for only 30 days, so the answer to your question is no, unless you keep up your contract with 3. "

I have 8 months left on my 3 contract.
I may or may not leave them before this end date.
If i buy the iphone/simplicity deal.....what im saying is, can i use the new simplicity number/iphone for however long....and then when im ready to PAC over my old number, i can do that...? Basically...once simplicity number is used and activated....you can still PAC over an old one, months later?

im gonna wait for simplicity users to see how they get on with iphone.
It may be like past minor restrictions, or it may be different, no one knows yet, what will be diff, in comparison to proper iphone contract sim.

YOU WOULD THINK 02 WEBSITE HAD A SECTION SAYING EXACTLY WHAT AFFECT THE SIMPLICITY SIM HAS ON THE IPHONE, THE DRAWBACKS ETC.

apple announced 3GS 16GB to be $199

which works out to be £123

SO WHY ARE WE BEING CHARGED £440 FOR THIS HANDSET?!

shall i tell my people in america to send me one? or will it be locked to AT&T and impossible to work with 02??

You are comparing apples and pears.

The U.S.A. $199 phone is a contract phone and the contract is for 2 years. The £440 U.K. phone is PAYG without any contract commitment.

The U.K. phone price includes v.a.t. at 15%. The U.S phone price is subject to additional sales tax.

Your 'people' in the U.S.A. cannot get one for that price without contract, and it wouldn't work here anyway as it is locked to AT&T.

oh ok....that clears that up then.....

Maybe previously mentioned but...

I phoned CPW and they are NOT doing collect from store. Even though it was on option when buying online they are all being dispatched to your home address. I for one am very annoyed. I'll save you the boring story but basically I'll probably not get mine until Monday afternoon/evening because of this.

If you pre-order in-store, still delivered to home address.

AFAIK CPW not opening early on Friday.

Why wont you get it until Monday? I thought delivery was ON the 19th?

When should I set my alarm??

Ok, buying iPhone from O2 shop on Friday morning. At the moment there are no plans to open up before the normal time of 09:02.

Will there be a queue? What time shall I get there?

(I don't expect anyone to actually know the answer to this, just interested in people's thoughts - my early queuing experience is limited to buying football tickets!)
