Twitter:

@jlowery354 Every O2 customer needs to pay to end their contract if they want to upgrade early I'm afraid

and im sure apple will love the amount of lost sales from locked in o2 customers who will not pay at the £35x6months to upgrade PLUS the handset price

o2
" we dont know anything, we have no phones in stock, i cant tell you anything"

i sent them an email, but am expecting the same load of bull sh*t i got off them last year.

if anyone can get any sense out them let us know. they really are useless at this.

tbh i dont really care how much it costs , but i would like to at least order one.
ffs.

btw i am due an upgrade on one contract, and have 6 months left on another.

hey guys, would its be cheaper to buy they pay as you go 32gig 3gs then use my current 3g's sim than leave contract and recontract? im not really bothered with the cost just want to find out the cheapest way to do it. or is nothing certain till the official statment

What O2 needs to bear in mind is that at some point Apple will allow other operators to offer the iPhone. If O2 allows current iPhone users to upgrade at a sensible cost, then they get locked into a new 18 month (or even 24 month) contract, virtually guaranteeing that they will remain O2 customers for that period of time.

I know I will have no hesitation switching providers if another is available when my contract ends. If O2 offer me a good upgrade deal I will stay loyal.

anyone else expecting a repeat of last years absolute upgrade disaster.. i must have phoned o2 about 30 times asking a simple "are you sending me one or not question" and failover forms.
what a nightmare i hope they get their act together.

Spot on - but will they listen?

Crazy, they're not allowing upgrades for the 3G if your upgrade option isn't up yet on ATT. They never did this before. via @dancameron

It's happening in the US too!

Not good...

If they said last year *You must wait until your contract ends to get the iPhone 3G* , then people would expect this from the iPhone 3Gs

But now they want you to pay?

Why not just do what they did last year, add another 18 months to your contacts??

VERY VERY silly move....
