Anyone know if its possible to port numbers between different peoples contracts on O2?

Wife has simplicity sim so can upgrade to 3GS.

I have 3G with six months remaining.

We swap SIM's so she has the 3G.

But can we also swap numbers? So I have 3GS with old contract number?

Looks like we have to buy out our contracts and then upgrade according to their Twitter.

Got mine in August - This is a real bugger!

Nothing on upgrade for 3G owners though ...

"Upgrade

If you're already with us on Pay Monthly, you can upgrade to the new iPhone 3G when it's time to upgrade. It's usually the last month of your contract, but you can check at My O2.

If you've already got an iPhone, download the new iPhone OS 3.0 software from 17 June and you'll get over 100 new features. Find out more"

Its going to cost me £210 to buy my contact out then £184.98 or £274.23 for the phone just for 600mins & 500 texts :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Well if you bought your 3G (when you could get one) when they came out on the £35 tariff, the 32GB 3Gs will cost £520

OK looks like it'll be easy to buy a 3Gs, doubt O2 will have queues like last time.

I spoke to o2 customer services before and she says that twitter has nothing to do with them, so I'm wondering if it's someone pulling our legs.

Well before the prices were up on the O2 site the person on O2's Twitter was spot on.

Sorry but you are not currently eligible to upgrade. You can upgrade when you're in the last month of your contract. To check your contract renewal date visit My O2.

Whats the link on o2 to see how much you'll be for the iPhone 3Gs?

Me too.

That doesn't change the fact that those of us who are out of contract are being ripped off so severely.

Phazer

Agreed. I'm not in contract and was all ready to sign up as long as the new phones fell inline with what the 3G had cost on contract when it came out. However to get the smallest 3GS (16GB) will cost £184.98 on and 18 month contract whereas the 3G (8GB) cost £96.89.

In the US they seem to have done the Apple usual thing, release new version, drop price of old one and sell new version at the same original price. In the UK they have simply brought in the new model and a much higher price point. The only way to get even close to the original 3G prices is to sign up for a 24 month contract.

For 600 minutes & 500 texts which you can get for £15 a month with a free crappy phone :D

This will be a big failure for O2/Apple. Not because of the Phone but the Pricing. Where is the logic coming from?:confused::confused:

Even if it is fake it will take a huge amount of generosity from O2 to let people upgrade early. You are obliged to give them your money for a good few months yet and they need it to cover the cost of the iPhone itself.

We'll see, but if I had to bet I would say it is extremely unlikely that they'll let 3G users upgrade early.

Well looks like I'll have to find another £100 from somewhere for the new 3GS 16GB on Pay As You Go, complete madness really but I want one, and if I buy the old 3G 8GB, it will always be in the back of my mind, that theres a better phone.

This will be my first new mobile in about 4 years, so at £440, I'll be expecting the iPhone to last me at least another 4 years, lets hope Apple continue to release software upgrades.
:)

Well, as I won't now be upgrading my handset, I've just bought applecare for it as it needs to last another year.

Anyone found out if we can move contracts to another named person/family member to at least just start a fresh contract, and not have the other 6 months of contract to pay as well?

Im 90% sure the warrenty lasts on your iphone until your contract ends. thats what the guy at my local Apple store told me.

Looking at the info on the o2 webpage.....Im going to sign up to a 24month with the iphone 16gb 3gs....which should cost me £44.05 a month....meaning Ill get the 3GS for free.....last month of my contract is next month so at most ill have to pay £35! is this correct or am I reading it wrong?!?

comments please??

i know that this is a UK thread but i was just wondering does anyone know if the release date the same for Ireland as well? there have been no changes on the o2 irish site so have no idea what it's going to cost me with the euro. hhhmmm......

I've still got my 1st gen iphone.

£87.11 gets me an upgrade on a 2 year deal. £100 was my limit or I would have taken the free 3g.

I was hoping for another 18 month contract for under £100 but i'll probably take the deal.

I do think it's a bit pricey though. Might chance my luck at negotiating 18 months for the £87
