My O2 contract has just run out with my previous Sony Ericcson phone. Been waiting for a while to see if there was a new iPhone coming, and behold: 3GS!

Gonna get one, just need to see some definite prices from O2.

I've been an O2 customer for about 4 years now, and I know they would cut me an awesome deal on retentions with any other phone, if I just mentioned I was thinking of changing networks.

However I'm not sure if they will cut deals on new iPhone due to demand...

Hopefully tho:)

Looking at the info on the o2 webpage.....Im going to sign up to a 24month with the iphone 16gb 3gs....which should cost me £44.05 a month....meaning Ill get the 3GS for free.....last month of my contract is next month so at most ill have to pay £35! is this correct or am I reading it wrong?!?

comments please??

You can upgrade at no extra cost during the last month of your contract.

Anyone found out if we can move contracts to another named person/family member to at least just start a fresh contract, and not have the other 6 months of contract to pay as well?

I'd like to know that too! It seems much more sensible to do it that way than to pay off your old contract and get nothing for it.

yes, so as next month is the last month of my contract and the 02 twitter is saying that you have to pay to get out of my contract, to get out early I would only have to pay £35 - next months payment = end of current contract? or have I got it wrong???

cheers mate

This is such a rip, I love the iPhone and am willing to go on a new 24month contract if it means I can have a new iPhone 3Gs for free. Thats what most networks do.

But it seems I would need to pay 6 months left on my contract which is £270 just to upgrade to a new phone which I would need to pay for aswell.

O2 fail

You could wait a couple of weeks. :D

I'm willing to bet that most other networks would also say no to you.

I was told on launch day last year that you can change your tariff after 9 months, so I'll be swapping to the lowest tariff and then paying up ;)

At last, the iPhone gets the features that £50 phones have had for half a decade..... and then O2 price it at twice any reasonable value, and THEN ask to shaft you again with tethering prices.

I will not be getting one. Simply too expensive.

Is it just me or is everyone getting the pay monthly and PAYG prices confused. Most smartphones cost £500-600 off contract, and they don't have 32GB of storage.

A Day of (P)uck Ups

Earlier Apple has the new 13" MBP as £1,299 instead of £899 and the 15" and 17" £200 more than they should have been... (therefore the 13" MBP is $1,199 in US and £1,299 in UK... more in dollars than pounds

Soo maybe o2 and AT&T messed up the pricing today.... i dont really know (unlikely) but possible

I guess it all depends how much you can sell your 3G for as then it might not be to much to upgrade.

Indeed! When you can get a THREE dongle with a 1 month minimum contract for £15 per month. And 5gb with that too.

Especially when the 3G signal is so patchy (where I live in Swindon) - £15 per month for something they already technically give me...

Will happily see my contract out with them and then decide which way I'm going to go.

Would have been priceless to see some people stood outside shops this morning though.

Cant find the Page on MyO2 which tells me when i can upgrade :/

If its the amount of months left x monthly cost its gonna cost me £300 to get out, then £280 to get the 32Gb 3GS. Total £580. Or £540 on Pay & Go...
